Casualties of the Plague

After many weeks of hard work, Galvin finally remade his ship. The only difference from the first time was this one was about 3 times as strong and firmly made. To celebrate his achievement, he went to Trolls Bane to buy a bottle of wine with which to christen his new craft, "The Lyre." As he entered the West Gate, he looked around and was a bit shocked to see no one there and to smell the terrible stench of the plague. Unfortunately, by being separate from most everyone during his time of reconstruction, he had heard nothing of the plague.

On his way to the tavern, he spots a young boy, which happens to be a rare sight on Gobiath. The boy looks tired, weak, and acts rather sluggish. Trying to be like his father, Galvin rushes over to the boy’s side and says, "What's wrong?" The boy is unable to speak and just looks at him with saddening eyes. After about a minute, the boy begins to the loose the sparkle of life from his eyes and fades into the blackness of death. Galvin begins to cry, seeing as that this is now the third person, possibly fifth if his mother and brother are dead as well, that have died because of him. (Or so he thinks).

After crying for a bit and still sobbing, he goes to a depot and pulls out a shovel from it. Next to the hospital, where the boy lay, Galvin began to dig the grave. After many hours of digging Galvin began to feel weak and tired, not only due to the cold but also slightly due to the plague that has begun to develop inside him. He carefully lowers the boy's body into the grave and whispers something to him, "You're alright now, you're safe." After a moment of silence, Galvin fills in the grave and places a small rock on top of the upturned earth to mark the grave.

He heads into the tavern to buy a bottle of wine, only to find out that Borgate is not there. This confuses him even more and so he heads out to find his father. On his way back to Vanima, he spreads this deadly plague to the land which he walks upon, unknowingly helping to set the stages for a massive pandemic.
