He slowly lowers his lute, while a teardrop falls down his face.A story i tell, not often heard, a story of my life, which has only been told twice.
A strange tell i tell, for all is not well. it starts eleven years ago, some say the song sounds swell, while some say its the song from hell...
I awoke from here not far, just outside teh tavern bar, teh bar's door was not ajar for it was late at night.
At night! At night! In the middle of my plight!
I did not know who i was, nor how i'd come to be, how'd i come to this place? had i lost my sanity?
I only had 12 years, so you can imagine my fear, i huddled in the rain, i thought i was insane...
But alas, a lady elf, who is much better than myself, she took me in her home, she raised me as her own.
I was taken to her house, she did not have a spouse, she sang to me that night to alliviate my fright.
At night! At night! In the middle of my plight!
And every night from there she would sing before i slept, what a beautiful sound to hear, but so sad that i sometimes wept.
For other things i wept as well for she died soon after, she was sick you see, and knew it too, so she taught me things three.
She taught me to play, and i do to this very day
She taught me to sing, and thats how i earned this ring
She taught me to love, and be as gentle as a dove.
Her beautiful voice you see, make me what i'd be, a bard who sings for free, with a lute on my knee.
But back to the story at hand, i was raised in this here land, at sixteen years you see, some orcs did threaten me.
I walked home from the bar, in the middle of the night, i heard a voice from afar, boy it gave me such a fright!
At night! At night! In the middle of my plight!
They demanded all i had, I said that i had none, they said "that is not fun," and they beat me pretty bad"
A busted arm a broken rib, they said "you lie" they said "you fib"
Give me what you got they said, do it quick or you'll be dead
On the ground i lay, with a broken face, in disgrace, they searched my pockets then, they searched to no end.
I did not have on me a coin, they left me for the gods to join. Then a girl came to save my life, a girl i'd want to make my wife.
Se came with herbs, on my wounds she spread, and then she helped me home to bed. I healed up right, i was ok, but other woulds haunt me this day.
We met every night from there, w'ed often sit under a tree, she started to steal my heart i fear, ahh... she was an elf named "shawnee..."
The most beautiful elf you've ever seen, caring, sweet and funny. After months of meetings i ask for her hand, and she said "of course honey."
We were to be wed the following moon, but something did happen... it happened much to soon...
A walk to greenbriar we did went, for thats how we liked our time spent. We walked in the dead of night, we then saw a gruesome sight.
At night! At night! In the middle of my plight!
A man lay in the road, burns across his face, shawnee tried to help this toad, she went to him with haste.
Out of the corner of my eye what did i see? i saw a skeleton hidden behind a tree.
I yelled to her, stop! i said, for i feared she might end up dead, but she continued in spite of me, i continued to yell quite fright-ful-ly.
As the gruesome man looked to her, i always remember what he said, "death the all beauty" with a smile on his head.
An incantation left his lips, while fire left his finger tips, straight for my bride it did fling, and i could not do a damn thing.
The monster vanished as i screamed a death curse, she was never even able to drop her purse.
She died then, there in my arm, i promised her she'd come to no harm.
Ill never forget that ugly face, no i never will. i'll torture him, i'll make his guts spill, right before i kill...
