Offensive magic

Samantha Meryadeles casted offensive magic upon me today the 23rd of Olos in the tavern. This is within town bounds and I am a citizen. I did not pull a blade on her or tell her I was going to hurt her. She apparently thinks I am in some temple(witch I am NOT). She broke basic law #9 witch states... Dantagon was the only witness I knew there. He and I are both sworn to an oath of truth.

Magic can be used for defense of the town. Aggressive magic for any other reason is banned, because magic can be quite unpredictable, meaning it could cause unintended consequences to others. Dueling IS permitted in town as long as it is within a certain distance from a building and road (5 paces).

It appears Samantha thinks she can do whatever she pleases in Troll's Bane with no regard for our laws.

An elf named Callith admits to seeing Samantha take a ring I dropped during her attack on me. You can add theiving to the charges on her.

Never again dare to threat my friends and their life. Shall you do again my wrath will be more than a little punishment.

You are expelled from Trollsbane, never dare to enter it again, or you will again find your end.

That is my last warning for you.

And as a member of the Temple you have no rights in Trollsbane.

Your property will be donated to the Trollsbane guard, it will help to secure the towns safety.

I am a member of no temple, there is not law that says temple members cannot come in Troll's Bane. I told you to beware for your friends because you said you were going to find Gabon who attacked some one you knew. I was warning you to be carefull, for Gabon is a strong and powerful orc. I broke no laws where you did.

Your lies are useless, we know about your connection and bound to the temple and Avalyon el'Hattarr. You are concidered as one of them. Face that.
And your threat was a threat as a member of the temple, whose threaten me already often before. Don't belief we will allow you and the other temple members anything inside Trollsbane. Stay in your own town, but don't dare to dwell in others.

But since you named Dantagon Marescot and Callith as your witnessed we may also ask them to write here down their opinion about the happenings.

None of my friends. I wanted to talk with you about the case of a young halfling boy who wanted to play games with you and endet than with your axe in his back.
I wanted to discuss with you that you choped in trollsbane a little, overweighted halfling boy down who couldnt even run away right because of his round stomache, just because he said your father must have been a big rabbit. The boy never really wanted to insult you, he just wanted to play a game.

Ask Dusty aund Jonny, da hafer hud more dan enough chances ter shut his hole but he chose nut too..i warned him tree times nut ter insult meh fodder but yet he kept it up, Dusty Bottoms aund Jonny wos der aund saw da whole ting aund will tell yoo da hafer deserved whot he got. i wos patient wif him as he insulted meh and da orcs but saying en ting bout meh fodder is crossen da line dat i draw.

Gabon, you are a big, evil orcy! Everything startet up when you said to me, that my mother must have been a human and my dad an orc. Then I contered and you growled and became angry. After a while of teasing you, dusty arrived and when you decided to attack me, Jonny barracked for you and Dusty even helped you to catch me and rimmed his dagger into my reverse! This is sooo nasty - I didn't even say a word to Dusty or Jonny but they decided to have their fun with bullying me!

Well it is no surprise. She is used to bending the rules and laws to have things her way. Maybe she considers herself as being above law...

More than Dain has been attacked by Samantha Meryadeles the last few weeks. I was attacked myself. She charged me for insulting her, and like she was a law herself, she sentensed me to death. She told me this was acording to the laws of Trollsbane? Luckily the godess does not kneel for Samantha, and sent me back. What I in fact did, was somthing she asks her friends to do. I used her name. Is that not what we all want? For everybody to treat us like our friends does? And if we do not, are we all alowed to go prosecute as we wish? And even carry out the punishment as and where we wish?

I don't know her that well except an occasional word or nod, but when I was severely hurt by an assassin using a poisonous blade, Lady Meryadeles, out of all the people in the tavern that day I told my story, was the only one to try to look for him in Trolls Bane.

If he ever bothers you again, please tell me Kaila, and i will do my best to help. I think Meryadles sadly would use any excuse she could get to use her magic. Somtimes assassins other times on... Others. The fact that noone would help you, does not set an example on how people usually behave in Bane, I think, and hope. As I said, ask me if no others will help. I would be happy to.

Mister Isthil, you have forgotten to mention that I asked and warned you 4 times in a row to stop mocking me with calling me by my forname as if we would be friends and knowing each other on an intimate way. 4 times I warned you, and you knew what will happen if you continue. You accepted that fate, and provoked me again, knowing how this will end. It was your own fault.

As a guest in Trollsbane you should respect a citizens wish for treating him or her more respectfull, and you should aswell listen to a warning if told to you. If you can't do so and prefer to treat Trollsbanes citizens respectless and mock them, than you shouldn't moan when you one day get a bill for such behaviour.

Respectless treating of Trollsbanes citizens won't be tolerated. Behave while being inside of our townwalls, or don't enter at all. Treat our citizens well and polite while visiting our town. That is all I ask for.

And Miss Galathil, I can assure you that the assassin who attacked you won't attack you again. It seems he vanished, maybe he left the isle or tried himself on a victim too strong for him. You don't have to fear him anymore.

As much as I respect your continued struggle against evil on this isle, I believe your title of magistrate does not give you power to sentence people to death no to actually attack them, regardless of their offense, only to jail or ban people. Perhaps you should keep to those powers in future.

Again, he had 4 choices to stop. He ignored it each time. If you simply ignore any wishes or warnings, it is your own fault. There were many chances for him to stop mocking and disrespecting me. But he prefered to continue and get punished, as I told him he will be if he doesn't stop.

Also i was not Magistrate at that time.

4 choices or not the fact remains that you attacked a man with magic, who did not threaten your life, and as such, broke Trollsbane law. Had you at least tried to detain him, perhaps I would be a little more sympathetic but it seems that his 'punishment' was one of being sent to the cross, which I could not disagree more with.
To give to an example, were a child to come to me and torment me for my big nose, would I give him four warnings, and then proceed to stick a blade in his chest? I do not think so, and you are equally at fault as in my example, because the elf in question was just as helpless as the child in my example.

If I gave you four chances to quit as a magistrate, before I slayed you, would I be in my right to do so? If I ordered you to cut your hair, and gave you four chances to do so, would I be in my right to slay you if you refused? In that case show me the law wich gives me this right.
You broke a law when attacked me that day, and yet another when you slayed me. If you may not show Trollsbane the law wich allowed you to do this. And neither the law wich I broke, then I suggest we all follow the laws that do exist...
What does the law say about assaulters? What does the law say about murderers?
