Well actually, Hellbriar isn't the nicest place to live in methinks unless you like lava and cobwebs, and Caelum requires... a great deal of mutual trust. Not to say we wouldn't accept you, but it'd take somewhat longer for you to join Caelum and get to our private boards than the "Okay, the more the merrier" approach our neighbour Greenbriar takes. As you can tell from the information we give, we aren't the most open town with the public.

Dearest citizens of Greenbriar,
Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to contact Mayor Rumil. I have been asked by several to 'lead' Grenbriar again. I will serve as an Alderman until the Mayor returns. We must rebuild a town council as well as an active Mayor. In the meantime, I will handle affairs of Greenbriar, and serve on the county council, until Mayor Rumil is well enough to return.
As my first act, I wish to declare the environs of Hellbriar and the chambers beneath (formerly known as Nocturnalis) under my personal protection and control, call it a mission of redemption if you will. I will contact various authorities in the coming days to organize clean-up and restoration of these once-beautiful lands. I would ask anyone who can plant trees to begin re-planting there. As nature and good intentions grow, the land will heal.
As the month of Olos has already started, lets plan the Harvest festival. I will post plans in the next few days, and will encourage Caelum to also assist as they did last year.
((Lets have it next Saturday, January 20th, 7pm GMT in Greenbriar))
We will raise money from this festival, to go towards a new project I am planning, and have discussed with Lorian McGintish a year ago.......'Hobbit' Holes. These homes will be located at the forest edge, be made under the hills into cozy little cottages, respectful of nature. They will be made at Greenbriar's expense to be sold to our citizens. As Greenbriar grows, I believe these homes will be in demand, and blend well into the local environment.
The Hospital will remain open at Greenbriar #2, and Anfala Antani is still our resident medico.

I have updated the Hamlet's Charter Page ((Page 1 of this thread)). Please let me know if I have forgotten anyone as citizens or if anyone knows of people who have left. I have also added a "Memory" list for those citizens who have passed on and are buried here. We will begin a cemetary near the Shrine to Oldra Cross on the north and the two graves I know of will be moved there. Here we can remember our loved and lost.

Come One, Come All to Briar County’s second annual County Faire in the Hamlet of Greenbriar!
Master of Ceremonies: Baron Dusty Bottoms, Alderman of Greenbriar
((He ‘begins’ each event and moderates disputes))
Address any questions, offers of help, or offers of supplies to him.
Security provided by the city of “Caelum”
Schedule of Events:
((Each 'Hour' is 20 minutes Real Time))
Sunrise ((7pm GMT)): Prayer to Oldra – At the Cross to Oldra
- A Community prayer for bountiful Harvests for all.
6th Hour ((7:20)): Introductions and Parade – On Main Street – Parade is around Greenbriar and back again. Whoever the audience thinks is the ‘dumbest’, ‘silliest’ or ‘ugliest’ person on Gobiath will be elected the “King of Fools”. William Elderberry was last year's 'King'.
- Election of “King of Fools” and he (or a straw effigy) leads the Parade.
7th Hour ((7:40)): Social Hour & Farmer’s Market – On Main Street
- Visit with local farmers and fishermen as they sell seeds, crop, fish, baked goods and other wares home-grown in Briar County! Prizes given by a ‘secret judge’ for best ‘example’ of local crops and fish, so farmers, get out and show your best crops!
8th Hour ((8pm GMT)): Battle of the Bards – At the Campsite
- All Bards sing lyrics to their favorite instruments and the audience decides who is the best with the loudest “Huzzah!!” Winner receives a purse of 2 Silvers.
9th Hour ((8:20)): Onion-Ball Tournament – At the Onion Ball Field
- Round Robin contest, challenge your own opponents, last one standing ‘winner’ receives purse of 2 silvers. Referee - TBA
10th Hour ((8:40)): Beer Garden – At the “Briarpatch” Tavern
- Show, sample and buy Beer, Wine and Ales from around Gobiath. Prizes given by a ‘secret judge’ for best ‘example’ of local brews, so Brewers, get out and show your best vintage!
11th Hour ((9pm GMT)): “Lumber carrying” Race – Carry 25 wood boards from Main Street to the Bridge in North Briar (touching it) then back again to Main Street. Fastest one back, after they touch the Bridge, with all the boards wins 2 silvers!

- Buy your numbered tiles anytime from Dusty Bottoms, Mayor at 25 coppers each, limit of 4 tiles purchased by each participant, for a chance to win 25 Silvers.

I would like to share a letter I recieved from the Mayor.
Dusty! Friend. I am so glad that you have returned. It saddens me to hear the fate of your sister...I was hoping you would find her. I am sorry to say that I have been unable to live up to Greenbriar's, your, or my hopes.
A couple months after you left, I went out into the woods to rest for the day, relax, and refresh myself for the activities ahead. When I woke, I was in lands that I had never seen before. It took me more than a few months to find my way back. During that time, Achae Eanstray took over as Mayor and seems to have done a fine job.
When I was finally able to find my way back to Greenbriar, I became ill almost immediately. I was hoping my illness was to be short...just the result of my long weary travels, but I find myself still ill...more so than at first. It saddens me to be in this condition that keeps me from my duties.
Due to my illness, I would like you to once again be Mayor of Greenbriar. I cannot accomplish anything in my present state. I am uncertain when or even if my illness will fade. I feel it taking hold of me deeply...forcing myself out. ((I have had more problems with my computer and internet connection than I would care to list here...Every time I fix one problem, another comes up. I don't know when the problems will end...you'd think reformatting the hard drive would fix them all...))
Wake me up whenever it is convenient for you so that I may give Greenbriar's items back to you.
I wish you the best as you again lead Greenbriar. May the sun shine down upon you brighter than ever to guide you and protect you. I love you, my friend...you are very dear to me, and I would hate for anything to come against you.

I didn't know that Mayor Rumil was so ill. I'll do my best in his absence.
A few notes,
Please do not plant trees on the north side of the Hospital. That plot of land has been promised to Miru Yukimitsu. He asked to build a house there for him and his wife to begin a family. I have given consent and have donated the sand he needs and wish him and his future family the best.
If any other citizens wish to build homes, please contact me about location, size and other requirements. We will record any 'claims' legally and maintain their records. We may also build some 'apartment' houses for those who cannot, or will not build a house of their own. These are all ideas that will take take time to plan and collect for.
I have negotiated a trade agreement with Varshikar and in the interest of international friendship and cooperation, I would also like to start an "Apprentice" program for Greenbriar in association with other cities. Greenbriar is looking for 2-3 new/apprentice smiths who wish to learn their craft. They will recieve a 'smithing set' and pickaxe, and a stipend of one silver a month from Greenbriar for living expenses. They will then be expected to train under Maggie Kemoc of Varshikar, learning and aiding Varshikar with their needs. Later as their skills increase and Varshikar no longer needs them, they will be required to return to Greenbriar to teach others here the skills of smithing. During this time, they will be paid by Greenbriar 1 silver a month.
In Return, Greenbriar will offer to train apprentice farmers/cooks/lumberjacks of other cities at their expense.
I believe each city has much to offer, and together we can heal Gobiath and increase economies of everyone.
We will take the first step to providing Gobiath with more 'craftsmen' and increase the friendly ties we have with other cities.

I´ll summarize and translate the most important points for our citizens of the old language.

Ich werde die wichtigsten Punkte hier für unsere Mitbürger der alten Sprache zusammenfassen und übersetzen.
Wie ja schon viele mitbekommen haben, ist Dusty Bottoms zurückgekehrt. Aufgrund der schweren Erkrankung von Rumil Togrin und seiner ungewissen Zukunft wird nun wieder Dusty die Aufgabe des Bürgermeisters übernehmen. Wir wünschen natürlich Rumil alles Beste, auf dass er schnell wieder genesen möge.
Es sind noch ein paar Bekanntgaben zu machen:
Bitte pflanzt keine Bäume auf der Nordseite des Hospitals. Dieses Land ist Miru Yukimitsu versprochen, der dort ein Haus bauen und mit seiner Frau eine Familie gründen will.
Wenn noch andere Bürger ein eigenes Haus bauen wollen, dann wendet Euch bitte an Dusty Bottoms ((möglichst auf englisch)) und teilt ihm den Ort, die Größe und alles andere Erforderliche mit.
Es werden eventuell auch Appartments gebaut, doch dies wird wohl noch etwas Zeit brauchen.
Dusty Bottoms hat mit Varshikar folgende Übereinkunft über ein „Lehrling-Programm“ getroffen:
Greenbriar braucht 2-3 neue Schmiede. Diese bekommen von Greenbriar ein „Schmiede-Set“ und eine Spitzhacke sowie ein monatliches Gehalt von einem Silber. Sie werden unter Anleitung von Maggie Kemoc von Varshikar im Schmiedehandwerk unterrichtet und sind auch verpflichtet Varshikar zu helfen. Dusty hat sich Hellbriar, dem südlichen Teil Briars, angenommen und ruft alle, die Bäume pflanzen können, auf, bei der Wiederaufforstung zu helfen, sodass der ursprüngliche Zustand dieses einst so schönen Landes wieder hergestellt werden kann.
Ferner wird ein Erntedank Fest in Greenbriar abgehalten ((Samstag 20.1. um 8Uhr bzw. 20Uhr GMT+1)). Hier eine Zusammenfassung des Aushangs:
Programm:

Sonnenaufgang ((8:00Uhr)): Gebet zu Oldra am Kreuz vor der Stadt, um für ertragreiche Ernten zu bitten
6.Stunde ((8:20)): eine Parade, bei der das Publikum entscheidet, wer zum „Narrenkönig“ gekrönt wird und die Parade anführt.
7.Stunde ((8:40)): Bauern und Fischer aus der Gegend haben die Möglichkeit, ihre Waren auf der Hauptstraße zu verkaufen. Es werden auch Preise für die besten Waren vergeben!
8.Stunde ((9:00)): ein Wettbewerb für alle Musiker und Sänger, das Publikum entscheidet mit dem lautesten „Huzzah!!“ wer die 2 Silberstücke gewinnt.
9.Stunde ((9:20)): Onion-Ball Wettstreit: Wer als letztes übrig bleibt, gewinnt 2 Silberstücke.
10.Stunde ((9:40)): Zusammenkunft in der Taverne, bei der Brauerzeugnisse von lokalen Brauern gekauft werden können. Auch hier werden Preise vergeben!
11.Stunde ((10:00)): ein Rennen, bei dem die Teilnehmer 25 Holzbretter von der Hauptstraße zur Brücke im Norden Briars ((sie berühren)) und wieder zurück tragen müssen. Der Schnellste gewinnt 2 Silberstücke!
„Ernte Lotterie“: Bis zu 4 nummerierte Lose pro Kopf können jederzeit bei Bürgermeister Dusty Bottoms für je 25 Kupferstücke gekauft werden. Die Lotterie findet dann am Ende des Festes in der Taverne statt.
„Erntedank Mahl“: Nach den Hauptveranstaltungen können alle in der Taverne für ein Festmahl zusammenkommen. Wenn Ihr Essen braucht oder schon habt, dann kommt und esst und trinkt und lasst es nicht an Fröhlichkeit mangeln!
Spenden werden natürlich immer gerne angenommen. Diese und andere Anliegen bezüglich des Festes können Dusty vorgebracht werden.

Ich werde die wichtigsten Punkte hier für unsere Mitbürger der alten Sprache zusammenfassen und übersetzen.
Wie ja schon viele mitbekommen haben, ist Dusty Bottoms zurückgekehrt. Aufgrund der schweren Erkrankung von Rumil Togrin und seiner ungewissen Zukunft wird nun wieder Dusty die Aufgabe des Bürgermeisters übernehmen. Wir wünschen natürlich Rumil alles Beste, auf dass er schnell wieder genesen möge.
Es sind noch ein paar Bekanntgaben zu machen:
Bitte pflanzt keine Bäume auf der Nordseite des Hospitals. Dieses Land ist Miru Yukimitsu versprochen, der dort ein Haus bauen und mit seiner Frau eine Familie gründen will.
Wenn noch andere Bürger ein eigenes Haus bauen wollen, dann wendet Euch bitte an Dusty Bottoms ((möglichst auf englisch)) und teilt ihm den Ort, die Größe und alles andere Erforderliche mit.
Es werden eventuell auch Appartments gebaut, doch dies wird wohl noch etwas Zeit brauchen.
Dusty Bottoms hat mit Varshikar folgende Übereinkunft über ein „Lehrling-Programm“ getroffen:
Greenbriar braucht 2-3 neue Schmiede. Diese bekommen von Greenbriar ein „Schmiede-Set“ und eine Spitzhacke sowie ein monatliches Gehalt von einem Silber. There is just a wish to make: The Death of our Friend Pia just shows that we need a priest who knows how to pray to oldra, who can lead ceremonies and make prayers.

Dear citizens,
I have sent a request to Lorian McGintish, builder, to modify our hedges to better define Greenbriar and the growth it is experiencing.
We will also creat a modest cemetary to remember our loved and lost. I am planning to prepare the land north of the "Cross", between the Sea and Road.
I also recieved a request for help from a new guild "The Tailoring Guild" organized and led by Johnny Lant, a skilled Tailor, to build a guildhouse. I offered to help them if they brought their guild, livestock and skills here. I have granted them the land across the creek, west of the Hospital, for a small guildhouse, and enough land for a sheep pen and pig pen. I believe this will be a great mutual benefit to both their new guild and to Greenbriar. As many of you know, I am a skilled Tailor and Dyer myself. Having a 'Guild' for this under-represented craft will be of great benefit to Gobiath as a whole. There have never been enough tailors to make fine clothes.
In the next few months, I look forward to the growth of our fine village. I have even thought of a new motto.....
