Illarion: The Addiction
Yes, there are two things (or more) you are probably wondering about this post just from the title. Number one being that I ripped off the name from an earlier post and two, How can someone actually become addicted to a game? (Unless you are already addicted, then you know why)
To begin, my problem began the first time I set eyes upon this game, about 4 years ago, before it was ever a heavily role play based game. I quickly fell in love with the game and began to play it ALL the time. Unfortunately, my parents didn't notice my addiction until now, which was a bit too late.
I do not discourage people to stop playing or to not play this game, in fact, I highly encourage it. Just don't get carried away and let it take over your life. As of this post, and maybe a few time I get on the forums just so I am not completely in the dark, is the last time I shall see many of you for months, maybe even years if it comes to that. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and whatever other holidays I have forgotten and have a great time playing.

the thing is, if I didn't play as much as I am playing, I woudn't know what's happening and all the stuff, there would be a much smaller chance of having great rp moments, i would need a muccchh longer time to train a char on something and so on...
I used to play maybe 2 years ago, but I didn't spent much time on it.I had stopped playing it because I wasn't getting any grasp of what was happening around, I wasn't getting enough rp practice too. I really felt left out of the community.

Too late indeed. The reason I complain about the rp is this: I'm clincally addicted to the game and the dosage I'm getting is crap. It's even affecting my behavior and schoolwork. My personality has changed a lot since I started playing. It's given me so much fun and rofl funny moments. It got me 94 new msn contacts. It gave me something to do other than replaying old SNES games and watching the music channel all day. But now I'm addicted and I feel somewhat incomplete now the good rp's gone. I miss you, Illarion. :[

I have never seen a game which has as much potential to make you completely addicted like Illarion has.
As parent i would forbit my childs to play this game more than an hour a day... if at all.
You really have to keep an eye how much time you spend per day on playing it.
At the same time, I have never seen a game, which gives you so much fun over such a long time.. for me now I play it more than half a year.
So i guess that Illarion is like alcohol: till a certain level it is fine and makes life more ...interesting; but the side-effects can be drastic.
Actually, that is why I am not sure if i should feel happy or dissappointed that I'll have to leave Gobiath in some days again for a month or two or three.

I'm turny
Your all noobs
I've been a user of illarion for six years
They tried to put me on intervention, but I mauled the producer with a firesword and hept kels
My family wonders why I walk around wearing green felt pants and a green cape and how come I never walk diagonally, I told them it was because of the tiles, they called a pyschiatrist
I guess theres no room for people like me in the world

Illarion is good, but not addicting.
that, what you guys call addiction imho is a genetic defect.
it even has a name.
those mutations of "homo sapiens sapiens" as we are, are sientificly called "homo ludens".
so calm down everybody, it is not your fault. it is an inherited genetic pattern.
if illarion would not exist, you would play anyhow.
maybe, that you would try another game every week, but you would play.
so this longlasting preference for illarion is not from addiction, but result of the fact, that illarion is (one of) the best.
