The Searching Dove...

Post by Galvin »

Galvin sits on the shores of Greenbriar, legs sitting in the water of the stream. He takes out a nice, smooth apple wood board, some parchment, and some ink. He begins to scribble a note down and soon finishes. It reads...

Dear Mother,

I haven't seen you or Tielumil in a long time. I hope you two are alright. I guess you are back home with your family so if you get this dove I hope you have the time to read it. Can you please tell me when you'll be back?

Your Son,
~Galvin Tjime
~[Anc] Galvin Tjime [Anc]

Galvin ties the note to the leg of his dove and pets it for a bit. "I hope you can find her," he whispers to the dove, then the word, "Mother." The dove then begins to flap its wings and takes off, soon flying around Gobiath, trying to locate its intended target.

after learning of Galvin's note to his mother, decides to send a note to his father also, gets parchment and pen and writes with precise handwriting

Dear Azuros,
Your son Galvin is staying with us here in Greenbriar, he says he hasn't heard from you or his mother for quite some time. I do hope you are well and receive this dove. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to speed your return. Galvin is a wonderful boy, but has some issues..... I assume you are aware of the difficulty he still has with the death of his real parents....

Achae Eanstray
Temporary Co-Mayor of Greenbriar
Druid Apprentice

looks thoughtful and decides to write no more in the note, calls a dove and gives it a nibble of food sending it on it's way

Sits down next to the storage dreaming of the evening fires they had and takes out the note from Mark reading it one more time with a sad look on her face "I'll miss you also, love....... come home soon" sighs and holds the note close to her heart

Galvin sighs as he sits on the shores of Greenbriar, still waiting for a sign of his dove that he sent out to find his mother about a week ago. About mid day, a small, bird-like silhouette appears and heads back towards Greenbriar. Galvin hops up and watches the bird, trying to see if it is his. As it gets closer, it begins to head on a straighter path towards him. When it finally reaches him, he smiles widely and seems to be very giddy. He takes the note off the dove's leg and opens it, only to be disappointed as he finds it to be his own note to his mother. He sighs and pets the dove for a while, tears forming in his eyes. He feeds it then lets it go back out with the note attached to its leg, trying to seek out its original target.

Cyndil sits on a small chair, besides the bed, it was the only peice of furniture in the tiny room she was forced to share with Tielumel. Other than the fairies that brought her food everynight, she has seen nobody. It has been many weeks since she left the mainland for Vanima, how many she can't be certain. She still didn't understand where she was, or how she got there.Last she remembered was taking the ferry so her and Tielumel could nap in their own bed.
Cyndil kicks at a tiny empty cup that used to contain the tasteful honey wine the fairies so aptly made and it clatters across the floor. Perhaps they didn't come for her because they didn't know where to look, which would make sense, she didn't know either. If only she was able to send a dove! Certainly she thought she would be out of here by now, and although she has decent company to pass the time with, she missed her own family. Would Galvin ever forgive her for missing his birthday? Would Azuros miss seeing his son grow into a healthy boy?And oh, what she would give to insure Galvin could teach Tielumel to read.

Galvin watches again as his dove returns with the same note for the second time. He seems to have grown sadder and sadder with each passing day. He pets the dove as it eats some seeds he has and then drinks, then lets it go back into the air, beginning its search again. "Don't worry mother and Tielumil, I'll find you, even if you're home soon I'll be able to get you and bring you home so father and I can see you and we can do things together again." With this he sighs and goes back chopping wood, then taking the logs and sawing them into boards. "Only a few days now till I have all I need..." He smiles as he works and begins to work with more vigor.

Achae was very happy to have finally found Galvin and though he had been hurt, he appeared well except for some small scars. She keeps him company as he chops wood, looking concerned at the much larger size of his pet wondering what will be done with it when grown. At first she thought he was going learn more woodworking skills and was pleased he had an interest, but the more trees he chopped, the more perplexed she became at what he was doing with all the wood.

Galvin sits in Greenbriar, piles of wood everywhere around him. Ayla near him, helping him when he asks her to. He forms everything into ribbing of a boat, a mast, and begins to nail the ribs together. He sighs as he finishes assembling the main frame, then begins to cover it with leaves and sticks and some cloth, trying to conceal it. He sighs after this is done and heads back to Greenbriar.

Cyndil lies in bed, Tielumel sleeping soundly by her side, and looks out the small window cut into the crudely made wall. She stares at the twinkling stars that look so strange, like they are in a different sky than the one she knew at home. Cyndil tucks the thin blanket around Tielumel as she gets up and moves to the window, lifting her face to the sweet smelling breeze and closing her eyes. It has been another week, at least she thinks it has been that long. As she stands at the window, you can see how her blue dress hangs off her thinning frame, where it used to hug ample curves. She opens her eyes and sighs the name of her love, her hope, her future, and by the grace of the gods her way out of here.

After many days of hard work, Galvin sighs in relief as yhe looks over his newly built boat. He walks around it and eyes all parts of it, making sure there is no detail left unchecked. He smiles at his work, finding nothing wrong with it, and, with a bit of sollitude, pulls down the sail. He strains as he pushes the heavy boat into the water. Once it enters its new, wet home, he quickly grabs the end of the rope on his side and ties the boat off. He takes out a bottle of wine and with a smile, crashes it against the side and says, "I name you, Tielumil ." He quickly begins to scribble down two notes, one to Achae, and one to his father Azuros. He ties them to his two favorite doves and whispers the name of thier target to each on. He lets them loose and watches them fly away into the sky, smiling. He then steps into the boat and unties it. As he does this, he glances back and looks to Gobiath with an almost solum look, then pushes off and pulls out his newly made flute and begins to play a loud, almost harmonious tune as his small craft sails away from the island in search of his mother and younger brother.

Galvin now changes course after being out about a day with no wind and Gobiath still in sight, heading towards the western part of Gobiath, the Druid House in his sights. He looks up as he feels the wind blow, then looks to his sail as it finally fills up with air and he easily triples his former speed. He gently pats the boat and says, "Good old Tielumil, now, just a bit more..." He reaches over and then pets his now quite large black panther, Blacky, and pulls out his flute once again and begins to play a cheerful tune until he reaches the Druid House, about a half a day later.

Achae walks into Greenbriar again looking very worried having searched for Galvin in the forests and roads, everywhere she could think of. She looks up in the sky and sees a dove that looks like it had been flying a long time and looks very tired, it lands heavily on her shoulder. She pets it and gives it some food taking off the note it has on it's leg and begins reading.

"Dear Achae,

I am sorry if you are worried when you get this and I don't want you to be. I have become too worried about my brother and mother and have decided to go and find them, I have scoured the island and haven't seen them so I guess they must be somewhere else. If you see my father, I think I left out the part that I had searched the whole island for them. Oh, and also tell him I have Blacky with me to protect me if I need to. I hope to see you and him as soon as possible.

~Galvin Tjime
~[Anc] Galvin Tjime [Anc]"

She reads the note a second time and stilll looks very concerned wondering where Galvin could have gone to try to find them and wondering where "somewhere else" could be. When finished reading and again gets to the end she pictures how big the pet is and her eyes widen whispering "He could also hurt you, he is getting too big now" . She gets out her pen and parchment and hurriedly scribbles a note to Azuros

Dear Azuros,
I am assuming and hoping you received Galvin's note and know he is trying to find his Mother and brother, but I wanted to also let you know my concerns. His pet that is with him, Blacky is already big enough to eat pigs and sheep now and I am afraid he may hurt Galvin one day. I also fear for the almost fugue states he has at times. I don't know if you can do anything about it, but if you have an idea where he has gone, I will be available to help search.

Sincerely,

Achae"

Achae looks at the tired dove, sighs and sends it on it's way. Calling another dove, she gives it a nibble of food tying the note to it's leg and holds her hand to the sky watching it fly away
