C++ Help?

I am pretty sure C++ is important with Illarion development. So this is just like Elea's thread. So my question is..

In C++ you use cin for user input..but do you have a way that you can say..like if cin was ..... then execute so and so. In my tutorial so far I only use cin >> x or so and so. Can a dev like put a paragraph with the cin operator and the conditions I ask ?
