Now take this with a pinch of salt as im not sure if my facts are right but,
When using an axe or two swords you dont seem to get very little if any parry ability. This makes fighting with an axe almost usles. The same goes for fighting with two swords.(One in each hand.)
Now I know you get more attacks using two swords than someone with only one, but.. I would say the man with the shield will always win (to chars with the same stats.)
So my point is, I think in my opinion the weapons balancing and handeling should be high up on the agenda of things to do as it could do with a few tweeks. Dont get me wrong I do like the current system it just needs a few adjustments.
Players using two swords should only be alowd to do that with short swords and dagers. But nothing to larger as swinging two large swords around is... well.. gona hurt your self more than anyone else. Also the parry should be improoved depending on your weapons skill, so maybe even introduce a new fighting skill. 'Dule swords' or 'Axes'
Same with an axe.. using one may give you a powerful hit but I dont think anybody fights with an axe (two handed or other wise) as you will alwys get cut to meat before you get two swings with it.
ooh one more thing..archers, now this also could do with a bit of a tweek as if you are shooting at someone with two shields you might as well....not bother. You should be able to breach any armour with enough skill in bows, as after all what is a skilled archer if not a good shot and knowledgable in armours week points. The other things is...range! The visual limitations of the screen make arching almost usles as a combat skill. You can get maybe 4 arrows away before you are run down (and 4 arrow dont usaly kill) or 2-3 if you swap to hand to hand before they get to you. You cant run and arch so....yes you see my point.
well...that does me. (And im not totaly sure on my facts, im just going on experiance here)

Well, double swords actually give a decent parry, if you are skilled enough. My char uses two swords against everything up to an ogre without any problems. Two handed weapons of any kind, however, are really useless as you need to be an almost god like fighter to parry with them. I disagree with you in the point of limiting double sword tactics to small swords only. As you might know, in our world samurai even used two handed swords (Katana) with such tactics. It's unrealistic just to say "You can use two swords but only two short swords". Then it would rather be needed to introduce a system which allows using two long- or fireswords, but with disadvantages. One disadvantage we do already have is decreased parry, compared to shields.
A two- weapon skill is a very good idea, just like a polearm skill for axes and warhammers.

I would love to use double daggers, the thin ones, so i could look like Zidane from final fantasy 9
but when i do i always get killed with one blow ( unless its a fly ) I dont know how you would parry someone swinging swords at you with daggers so mabey agility should make you be able to dodge better than it can do now. Just a thought
Someone with two swords or daggers should be able to deflect more than person with shields would, because they can move with the ease and light ness of their weapons. And dont you think the axes cant block enough
I mean if you go up against a enemy you get chopped in two without a doubt.
And for all you people who dont KNOW what parry means, Parry means to deflect an opponents attack and be able to strike without minimal damage.
