That is one of the things you should find out in game. If the rings have a real purpose or not OOC shouldn't effect your character's decision to wear them. For example, if a ruby ring has the effect of bringing you some great power or something, its rumoured in game and its some kind of myth. And if its a myth or a belief or an actual fact does it really matter? If someone tells your character IC that their smaragd ring gives them special help in something then your knowledge OOC shouldn't matter and therefor doesn't. If it has special properties find out in game.

My char wears rings all the time. There has been no indication that they do anything special. I have heard that they boost atributes slightly, but again, if wearing a ring makes say 'agility' go up one point I doubt I'll ever notice. The rumor aspect is cool, as many people seek rings without even knowing if they do anything. Joke might be on us eh? Again *but* 'someone' should know what they do if anything, like ring crafters.. or mages or an npc or something.

also it would be alot cooler for the rings to have an effect rather than just being a rumor. I like effects :D

Yeah, I bet you wear lots of rings. While your character does nothing but train all day. I don't think I've ever successfully engaged you in roleplay without you walking away going ((This is BS. I need to train)).

So I bet you must know all about wearing rings now, huh?

Umm... sorry? Who's your character?
I roleplay with my characters friends. But he's always up for making new ones...

In the past rings used to effect the character's stats. I used to be a ring-crafter and if I'm not mistaken, these were the rings' effects:

Red ring (Ruby) - Increases health.
Green ring (Smargd) - Increases experience.
Purple ring (Amethyst) - Protects some skills after death.
Blue ring (Bluestone) - Increases mana, lower spell cost.
Black ring (Blackstone) - Increases speed.
Yellow ring (Topas) - Increases spell strength.
White ring (Diamond) - Increases all stats slightly.

*Sigh* Those were the days ... the days of the ring-bearer :)

Gondra's post really should be deleted. It is also aiding others by giving them OOC knowledge. I belive if they use it, it would be considered cheating...

I just remembered what people used to say about these rings. I didn't say that their effects is true. In fact, nobody knows. From my personal experience in the past, I didn't realize any changes in my character while wearing rings.
