Since we have to re-organize the whole magic learning stuff (also concerning the academy thing), i want all players of mages who have the teaching rune to answer here. NO SPAM PLEASE.

Markous: You do not have it with a player char though, right? just with a questing char which will be deleted eventually. Or am I wrong?

Da kann ich leider nicht. Ausserdem besitze ich kein irc chatprogramm und mags nur ungern extra installieren.

und ausserdem...wieso diskutieren wir das ooc? lasst unsere chars sich ig treffen und das ic besprechen. immerhin wird das eine ig organisation und angelegenheit sein.

ich fühle mich nicht wohl dabei das ooc zu besprechen und zu beschliessen und dann mit ig zu tragen.

We will meet INGAME, in the academy building, NEXT sunday (03. december 06) at 21:00 GMT.
(=22:00 in Germany).

Since noone answered at all, except for Thorwald who cannot come at this time point (but i am in contact with him about things) we will have to abandon this meeting.
As it seems, actual mage players (except for me, Thorvald, Samantha (has answered with PM)) are not interested in teaching.

Well, we may disable the teaching runes of these characters, or disable the teaching system completely and find another solution if there is so few interest in ingame teaching activities. In former times runes were bought in expensive books in the shop.

Or possibly people have been trying to teach without the ability to do so since the wipe but missed checking this topic, due to connection problems, etc, etc., and so missed the rescheduled meeting. Though I thought my previous PM's made my position clear on some matters. And you well know my difficulties with early times for meetings, etc.

Dude, don't disable the teaching rune! it's one of the best things that i loved about this game. Just make the standards for teaching a bit lower. And i think that personal teachers are a better idea than the academy...

It'll encourage n00bs to pg to get runes and then we'll have hundreds of n00bs running round 0wning people.

The problem is that we have few magechars with teaching runes who are really active, and with active i mean ingame more than one time a week.

Djironnyma is gone, Sideon is very seldome ingame, Jeremy too and when, than late at night. Marie isn't much ingame aswell.

We have a lack of mage teachers who are active enough.

Currently i see just Samantha and Damien as teachers who are also active and often enough ingame.
maybe its time to give some other magechars the teaching rune aswell. i mean magechars who are ready for it, like Duchan for example.

Anyway, what do you suggest Patric? New people with teaching runes? Select members of the current Magic Academy thingie whom have proven themselves worthy or something? Or are you also "for" a new teaching system?

A new teaching systhem would be never bad. but the scripters have no time for that and wont script that too soon. so we need an other solution, and currently thats giving active and well played magechars with enough background knowledge the teaching runes and use the teaching room.

I think Damien should give ever second character in the database the teaching rune, youve got more chance of actually targetting someone who will be active enough to take advantage of it.

The problem with giving new people a teaching rune is the same problem we have had all along. They go about happily with the new rune, but fall inactive before they have the skill to teach.

In my opinion you should remove the penalties from teaching a rune to the student. Mage characters still have to be careful who they teach, but the restriction isnt so terrible they never DO teach, and when they do it is weeks and months before they can teach again.

Perhaps even implementing something like having to wait 12 ingame hours before teaching another rune would work. As it stands, its so much work, players get disheartened and so give up.
