In the path that is shown in the Info-Box of the client, same directory where you'll find illarion.cfg.
If you don't find a log there, please send me your illarion.cfg file.

Thanks for the configs. Now I can tell you why you see no logs. They are disabled. By default, the client should install a illarion.cfg with logging enabled. Did you ever delete the illarion.cfg file? Did you install over an existing client?
Anyway, open your illarion.cfg and add the line
anywhere except for the last line.
Now you should get the logs.

It is weird. Though it shouldn't be related at all, all those logs show an error during sound output. Please try disabling sound in your client and whether this makes any difference.

I've tried it with the sound disabled but I'm still unable to type anything.

Please produce another set of logs (delete the old ones before starting the client) with sound disabled.

Ok, here we go again. I have set up a special debug version of the client for you with the old libraries. What we are going to do now is go step by step through the different version of LWJGL that I skipped in the client update until we find the one that causes the problem.
You can download the debug client from this URL
http://www.illarion.org/~nop/debug_dev/ ... debug.jnlp
It works only for windows and has the oldest libraries. In theory, everything should be working as before.
Please let me know whether you can type again.

Works every time I try it. Is the problem persistent for you?

Yes it is. Fails everytime with a 'technical problem has occurred'.
@diomed Are you sure it is the updated lwjgl version? First time I tried running from the desktop icon it didnt download the lwjgl files. Then I ran it from the shortcut above and it downloaded but wouldnt run.

I think you're right, my client didn't upgrade.
Now that it has, I can't run the new client either.

Next step. I have upgraded the debug version to LWJGL 1.0 beta 1.
Let me know how it is looking.

Seems we have found the culprit. As soon as I get another confirmation, I will revert the debug version to the last working one so you can play.

Thanks Nop. Your efforts are much appreciated. I know this has taken up a lot of your time.
What is the difference between the beta 1 and 2 versions? And what does this mean for us in terms of future game development?
Thanks again

They changed the DirectX input connection and DirectX seems to be faulty in Win98 SE. I guess it also means that they need to think up a fix for beta4.
