You don't have to put tries in everything or whatnot, it's just annoying and doesn't make such a nice story. If you don't put it in the other can still evade it. And the chance of a man evading a pie slammed at him while not even looking at the pie'er is very unlikely to me hmm? As is it anoying, that another char who got a pie tossed at him completely ignored it all, even though she tossed the pie at him, didn't say it hit I think.Mr. Cromwell wrote:That's not in my opinion the point. Yes it was forced rp, but there wasn't much chance of him evading when not looking.
Well, end of discussion.
I liked noones rp today since I only just woke up.

Okay, so you say it doesn't make a nice story? Is this a nicer or more coherent story then?Kevin Lightdot wrote:You don't have to put tries in everything or whatnot, it's just annoying and doesn't make such a nice story. Kevin slams a cake right in middle of Edward's face.
Edward dodges the cake.
If you insist on humiliating a character in public with a #me action, it's bloody well only decent to ask for a permission from the player. Otherwise you'll either are forcing the player to behave in a set way in order to make the story look like something not ridiculous, or then you will cause the story to be worse than with any "#me tries" combination.

No no, not like that I mean.
Like
Kevin slams the pie toward Edwards face.
He can still dodge it.
In some sentances such as this yes tries should be put there, but not in every little bloody thing.
I mean #me tries to walk
#me tries to bite his sausage
I mean anyone could trip him or steal the sausage from his hands.
This is a bit exaturated but unless you're really really dumb you know what I mean.
You can put tries, attempts and whatnot in every little fucking sentance but it just gets annoying.
Would you read a book that has tries in it every 2 sentances?
And.. Kevin only slams pie at Christine![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

To me, the usage of "towards" implies that there is still a chance to dodge it.. that it still has not happened (ie. that the pie has been thrown but it has not yet hit the face, which is only the intended target).
So unless I am completely mistaken, it's technically the same as "tries", "attempts" and so for. In which case there is no problem.

What the hell? I have been discussing actions that intend to cause X-effect on the characters of other people. I'm sorry if you failed to grasp that at this point, next time I'll be sure draw you a picture.Kevin Lightdot wrote: In some sentances such as this yes tries should be put there, but not in every little bloody thing.

Maybe I'm just really dumb, but I don't understand how #me walks has any direct effect on other people's characters. Or #me bites a sausage.

I did not want to steal the thread, but someone here needs a chill pill.Kevin Lightdot wrote: Well, end of discussion.

As I said, it was exaturated, might as well be
#me tries to kiss the other person softly on the cheek
On a first time this is good.
But it just really anoyes me to put tries before everything.
It still could be that with the walking my character is trying to get closer to another, or someone doesn't want him to eat the sausage because he thinks people shouldn't eat meat. It's quite much the same.
I agree, slamming pie into someones face would require 'tries' or 'attempts to' But the way some people speak of it makes me think we should put it by everything. And if you see tries in every sentance it just gets real anoying rp, it ruins the atmosphere.
A little forced rp is nececary, and often makes things much more fun.
And if you're going to get all pissed at me I have no intent to talk to you so good bye.
Go complain in the off topic, I might just answer if you try to be nice.

Kane & Atuan - very good rped paladins and very very enjoyable ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Auric - That's the kind of char you read the description of and thinks: "I want to know more about him!" I'm glad I was able to get a grip on him and get to know this char. Awesome backgroundstory, awesome rp. thanks![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
And I'm really glad some people enjoyed my RP again. I thought I'm already forgotten. *g*
