Video and Sound Drivers

Post by Dyluck »

This may sound like a stupid question, but where do I find these drivers that are said to be "typically available for download from your system or hardware manufacturer's website"? All I know is that I'm using Windows XP, and it wouldn't happen that I just have to go to Microsoft's website, would it? If I'm supposed to download from the website of my video and sound card manufacturer, I am not sure what type of video or sound card I have and don't know how to find out.

Like I said, I don't know the manufacturer of my video and sound card. Do you know how I can get this information without say disassembling my computer and physically look for it?

1) Start Menu
2) "Run..." option
3) Type in "dxdiag"
4) Check the "Display" and "Sound" tabs for Manufacturer/Provider

Since i think that you use a Via Sys. Mainboard, you can download all the drivers you find here:

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa ... e=1&OSID=1

And you should try to find the manual of your mainboard. The type number on it, is really inportaint to choose the correct drivers.

I think my motherboard is an Asus X Series P4S800-MX, but I can't seem to find that number on the webiste, or I don't know what to do with it?

That RadarSync thing also says I need Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM), but I'm not sure which one that is?
