green/red light thingy

Sometimes when I fight a foe a green light goes above my head and a red light above the enemy's. What is this?

The magical longsword has magical attributes, hence the magical part of the name. You can figure out what it does ingame hopefully. Also I don't think Magical longsword should be smithable anylonger.
