If you haven't noticed, lately there have been many names that are not roleplaying WHATSOEVER and should be deleted.

TO ALL NEWBIES: MAKE A MEDIEVEL NAME

I have only been on, oh, half an hour, and have seen about 7 names that are NOT good.
If you want a list, I would gladly share them.

There is a bad crowd coming in, and someone needs to take action. (GM'S)

i see the threat but i kinda wanna know who exactly you are targeting (list).....not that it matters im not a gm but what i think is more of a threat is the PKERS they should be taken care of first i think...but that is just my opinion.

the name-problem is well known, but as GMs we can't directly do something about it. all we can do is:
jump to the corresponding character, tell that the name doesn't fit into a medieval fantasy-world and ask the player to write an e-mail to the gods, containing their old name, the password (?) and the new name. however, if one of you meets a character with a name that obviously doesn't fit you can tell the player the same story (e-mail, ...).
there isn't anything else we can do about it...

@Martin: Has any GM actualy told that to any player? I haven't received a single email of players asking for a new name, that I haven't talked to by myself in the game.
If you have told someone to change his name, and you think that he won't write the email, just report him to me and I will take action.

Edit: I must correct the above, "Geld Geld" was one who wrote an email to change his name.

well... i've noticed this problem too , and i've also heard about one name-change..

but this aint yet SO bad.. in other games where you can have ANYKIND name you want i've seen names like : "ipickedthisnameforattention" , munapää /in finnish its coc*head and other extremely stupid and vulgar names , others even racially or sexsually harassing/insulting..

dont let this got that far..

well...i think the "ipickedthisnameforattention" was quite... :biggrin: amusing .

I asked two or three players with such names, one did not like illarion and preferred tibia, the others said to change their name or made a new char.

Hmm... And perhaps being kind about it, and trying to present to them the facts without making an issue of their personality will help them to realize their mistake. (I mean, *honestly*, how much effort has to go into thinking up a name that could fit in with a mythological/historical/fantasy setting? Not much, I believe, but maybe that's just me.) (Although I don't think it is, heheee...)

@Fire Man: If you think it sucks, simply go away. Don't forget, this game is ALPHA. That means, a lot will change, and most things simly aren't implemented yet. Tibia is in beta stage of development. That means, bugs and flaws will be ereased, but the most will stay as it is.
If you prefer hack'n slay to Roleplay, then simply play Tibia or Diablo2. You don't have to play illarion.

Since a small list has been called for, I will also mention:

MAKE 1 CHARACTER AT A TIME!!!
If you get sick of that character thats fine, but don't make multiple characters at a time.
I have made quite a few characters, and one with a moronic name (I am guilty!)
But absolutely NONE as stupid as "hlafnaked" or some other non-capitalized names.

about warm and friendly game world of Illarion came back to me!! So here i am :biggrin: !!!

I played Dransik long time ago b4 i even heard about Illarion... it was open Beta and community was really friendly but now it close-beta and it wanna charge some money for playing in it... watta greedy ppl!!!!

About the "greedy" people of Dransik.
If we would have to pay for the internet connection (we use the University connection right now), it would be 350 DM (about 160 US$) per month.

160 dollars isn't too much you just need 40 people to pay 5 dollars and
then you would have the money you needed plus 40 dollars more!

OOC: I seriously don't have 5 bucks to pull out of my back pocket every month, so I suppose that idea won't do too nicely for me... Guess if that kicks in I'll be gone for quite a while til I can collect up 5 bucks at least... :*(

Yeah Bror but b4 they was saying that game is totaly free and they made it for all this MMORPG player...(like Mirage, Drakkan ect)... It just smells same as Lineage... it was commercial and one day it went to open beta and like extra 1k of player joined in one day...play for month (notice: there were bugs!) or so and then Lineage went back to commercial (just 15$ us per month!

) half of player already got a lot of friends and stuff like that in the game, so half players from 1k in some way were forced to pay for game... It like big trap for poor MMORPG players!!! sux

! i think only real beta testers (who came to test the game not play) stoped playing and all other just starting to pay

I just wanna say that GM must say that game maybe or will go commercial and that player play it on own risk... (like Runescape, Elkardien)...

Yeah $5 dollars is not much for game... even it cheapest on net... only few game charge so low (like The Realm)... If anybody saw poll on one of fan Runescape page... it says that only 1300+ players out of 12904!!!!! said that they gonna pay $5 dollars for game ... But we should take in mind the ppl who play in Runescape (all this dumb idiots who ask on the forum board how to win this rpg! or ppl who ready to kill poor Andrew when they got killed buy some weak monster)... So maybe if Illarion grow and will keep good and friendly community it have good chance to go commercial... By now i think the best idea it to find few sponsors and keep collect money (even if it 5 buck per month) so after live will be lil easier... Also not bad to open lil Illarion shop where u can buy for RL money stuff like dif color of char hair...or maybe some special add-on for game...or pass to some area of map..even speacial Illarion t-shorst!!! ect... of coause it only good if GMs wanna keep game going for long time...

Yes, korn Mumphin, 40 players paying 5 $ each, gives us the amount to keep up the server.
But how to get 40 players to pay? I guess by introducing a fee and thats what Pasha complained about in the game Drinsik.
To make this clear: It is not planned to go "commercial" with Illarion, i.e. we are not planning to earn our living with it. What I can't promise, is that we don't charge some kind of fee to pay for the costs that we will have in the future (we have other plans to earn that money, but we don't know how this will work out).

well , i've been playing for dransik about an year now (but im on a break now though)

i dont really care what will happend to it , its full of bugbusers , mass pkers , morons and such..
it was supposed to be "free forever" , atleast what the page said at the time i started..
im not really mad at the GM of dransik for that reason , maybe for some other reasons wich i do not announce here . im not mad at him for the reason because i think hes has already got what he "deserved" , he "ate" hes word in the eyes of many players ..

well , i like illarion and prolly would pay for playing it...but we'll see..

And Runescape is veryvery fun, not as much as illarion though.
And to Pasha hitting his head:
Did you think of the nice cave/basement music? That's my fav. part of Illarion.
