New Skill System - Neues Fähigkeit System

Post by Lihtner Gragglefoot »

Hören auf, um die neue Fähigkeit Systemingame bitte zu besprechen. Dies schließt Leute wie zum Beispiel Randelf, Zerion, und Morgin mitein. Vielen Danke.

please do not mention another word about the new skill system ingame. This includes randelf (says they are too hard), zerion, and morgin. thank you.

Yes, I understand exactly what you mean...clearly it is more difficult than they say..I have been training for about 4 days now and I have not gained one "point" of anything...Serpardum says that there is a change..but it is really hard to see..well I dont usually believe something unless I see it myself...so I dont really believe my skills are raising...and reasonably so if I do say so myself...

Yes, I have noticed the same, for instance when I was making a bit of money carpentering . . . I made 700 wood into a lot of harps, but my skill never increased . . . wierd!

I do not mean to come off as rude or offensive in any way, but given the fact that illarion is down right now and this is a general board, I have no intention of roleplaying at this moment. The GM's and whoever else makes those decisions are the ones who altered the game..not us...we are just voicing our opinions...since when is it a bad thing? Is it true that it does us no good to say what we think?

don't look or talk about your skills
Can we have the 'show skills' bar removed then, to stop the temptation of it?

No one will have a problem with not being able to see their skills...but people will still have a problem with the near impossibility of raising abilities....There is no way around the topic...

I say yes to remove the "show skills". To much new players talk about their skills and how much they have. There should be just the knowledge that you can do something or now.

@freaper: sind sie nicht

is it bad if you need 10 days to raise your skills instead one? i think this isnt impossible and the tite of a master is then something worth

Then there are those other skills..the ones that take weeks to master..with the old system. What of those? Is it hopeless now to see mastery in any of those skills? Will we NEVER see another master goldsmith ever again?

Ok sure, we all know this is a roleplaying game. We are not meant to talk about our skills 24hours. And i guess the greater part of the illarion comunity does mainly roleplay and not only try to raise skills.
But i think it's not fair to make it 10 times harder to gain skills, because sometimes skills are needed to make roleplay. And i think this is really unfair for new players, who have no skills and need ages to gain a minimum of skills. In fact this could bring the contrary of what the inventors imagined. They might try even harder to gain skills, so they will use less time roleplaying. It's unfair if they have no chance against older players who have maxed their chars skills in a week maybe.
I would either make it only 2 times harder to gain skills, or i would risk to delete all skills of all chars and let them start again, so they're all equal. But that would not bring more roleplay in either.
I think actually the only way to get newbies and even older players to roleplay is being a good example. Don't judge over bad roleplayers but show them how to do it better, i know it's exhausting and strenious but it is clearly no solution to tell them "you don't belong here, piss off!"

I doubt deleting players is the solution, or deleting player's skills, this will annoy all the older players, I do think it's unfair on younger players though. It's a contraversial thing to discuss, with all points valid and in the end the decision is all down to the creators. But if the older players do have high skill and are still here, they havent been deleted for breaking rules (showing they are good role players), so perhaps I would waver to the side that skills should still be harder, but I dont know how hard . . .

I seem to remember reading somewhere, when I first started, that you had to learn your skills under a master. Perhaps we could have a system where it's 10X harder to learn on your own but only 2X under the tutelage of someone more skilled?

It could also be not very diifficult to have a good skill in something, so newbies could be as fast as in the moment improve their skills, but it should be very difficult to be master in something. Maybe you need a teacher for becoming master.

I think Ellarons idea is great. Newbies should be forced to have a master, who teaches them, otherwise they would only be able to learn a minimum of things. Someone should make a post on the proposal board about this matter.

Skills

Post by Lihtner Gragglefoot »

Some think it doesn't suck others think it does suck. However, if you have a old account, then I woulden't say much about this. People with old accounts had a chance to raise thier skills easily. The people with new accounts are just now starting on thier skills so they take way longer than the old characters. This doesn't apply to all of the old characters, but some. I know a friend that thinks it is a good idea to hire skills. However, he has been playing for awhile so he raised almost all his skills really high. It took him about 2 days to become a master blacksmith. I have been blacksmithing far more than that, but I'm not a master. This also depends on how much you go on. Some people can't really go on for a whole day, so it takes them 2 years to become a master in something. Others go on all the time so it is easy for them.

then things are as they should be.
No single person can become master of all, just as not every person has the potential to become e.g. a smith.

Oh boy this is quite getting out of hand. The only reason that people dont roleplay is because there is nothing to talk about, hmm o wait but only if you make it up or something, truly we need more action and people will definately stop skill talking as much. Maybe other NPC characters who say stuff and interact might do something who knows :?

Great ideas here. Remove the skill-bars and this idea with "master-training" is very good, too. I'd really like it. Let's see what's going to come the next monthes ...
