Someone Help the n00b Please

I have been looking forward to trying illarion for quite a while now.. and the reason ive only been looking forward to it is because of the tonz of problems ive had downloading the client... when i finally got it squared away I played for 5 mins then shut the pc down.. I came back and clicked play.... it says that it is unable to launch.. i try re-installing on the offline install and it says it is unable to download the client.. can someone plz tell me wtf is up with this stupid client? It worked fine before.

Hmm... Does someone else use your computer?
They might have deleted it. Or the offline file where you download
the client from may have been corrupted. Try downloading from the internet. Try your account does it work?

I am also having problems downloading the client. I have tried three times so far without any luck and will continue to try, I have no idea what it is I am receiving as a download but it certainly isn't the file as described in the manual and running it through WinZip is useless.

Is it just me or is there a problem with the download? I have no problems running other games on my PC so should have no problems running Illarion, provided I can actually get the client to work!

Any assistance gratefully received, and pleased bear in mind that not all of us know all there is to know about PCs.

I have never problems with downloading/installing the client.

Java 1.5x has to be installed, your internet connection should be open when installing. Try to always start the game via this this Link on the website.
And: You can run the game only from the windows username you used for installing.

Check "Start" => "Run..." => javaws. Then Java should start and you should see "Illarion Client".

Mmh, I guess that all do not really help.

Well, do you have Java Runtime Environment installed aswell? You have to install that BEFORE you download the actual client.

I was just coming back to post an update. I had DLed the Runtime Environment 1.5-06 as suggested, but it seems that it was that which was causing the problems. I went to find the latest version, 1.5-08 and it seems to be working, now all I have to do is read the manual and scope out the interface. If anyone else is having the same problem try getting the Runtime latest, it might also help if the link on the websitrw was updated to the latest version.

I am using the Java Runtime Enviroment ("Java 2 Platform Standard Edition") in version 1.5.0_06-b05 (infos from within javaws) on Windows XP SP1 with no problems.

But good to hear that a never Java version works with you.
