Scrambled Papers

Post by Fooser »

Within various desks in Trollsbane, there are many papers and letters regarding town affairs, jailings, trial preparations, evidence, and other documents. Every once in a while, some strange papers appear, apparently written for a different purpose.

Sylveria, how I could use you in times like these. Remember the nights during the lich war? We would sit against the cold stones of the castle, looking out into the distance, to the black clouds hovering over Trollsbane. To the possible threat that could come and slay us at any moment. I would always talk about my problems, and you would listen quietly. I appreciated that, and I can't really do that anymore.

I wish I could send you a letter, but where would I address it to?

It's open season on Trollsbane governor's it seems. First Stephen was kicked, now some want Brer gone. They don't seem to understand that intelligence is required for that job. Brer is the complete opposite of leaders of the past. He is introverted, quiet, thoughtful, and he doesn't use a weapon. I find it completely refreshing, but also frustrating. He moves at snails pace to get things done when we really need a more aggressive stance.

Brer is a good man, he sticks to his principles. This is not the right time for in-fighting again, and if this keeps up it will be the end of us for sure. The only good news is that the jails outside windows were sealed, and he captured a new prisoner. Perhaps that isn't even good news.

I can't seem to focus tonight. Good news, what good news, what is the meaning of that phrase, I have forgotten. We captured an ignorant dwarf, that probably doesn't know what he has done. I find it good that he isn't walking around anymore, he seems like he has some kind of insanity bothering his mental state.

But at the same time something is bugging me. Sure, going after orcs and skeletons hasn't been a problem, but we harmed another dwarf to get him to turn himself in. I remember myself condemning acts like that the guards used to do years ago. What is going on?

I heard for the first time tonight a direct mention of Darlok's return. I did indeed see the parchment that was posted on the Varshikar section of the wall, but I figured it was an imposter. Darlok died of illness, did he not? By what curse and ill doing has he been brought back up? These questions will be answered some day perhaps, and if this is all in fact true (which I don't think it is), the Varshikar response was quite fitting, and I support it.

I recall most encounters with Darlok, and all the hardships that came from all factions on the island to get rid of him. I just realized, I am the only full movement member remaining on this island right now.
