I pulled my 400MHz processor and dropped in a 450MHz....just spent 2 hours IG on the new client (all minimum settings no other progs running) and it seemed to work fine. Didnt freeze or boot me out anyway.
So...working system =
Pentium 2 450Mhz / 128MB RAM / ATI Rage Pro 3D 8MB AGP Graphics
EDIT: Having played on the new client for a few days now I have to report that the problem of freezing isnt completely solved. Its a lot better than it was, but does sometimes still fail. First time I came to the arena in trollsbane it crashed! High graphic content still upsets my system!
Hopefully I will have a 32mb card tomorrow or Tuesday which will fix the problem. *crosses fingers*

Windows XP
graphics card: SiS 651
problem: New client would be a blank white screen and never turn over to the map screen then actual ingame look.
reason: playing old client and then going to new client caused it. In my case I cannot play both clients. Old client somehow for some reason corrupts the new client and I have to restart the computer to switch from clients.

swish,
no, that is not your memory.
true, high and 256 colour means how much colours your screen will use for display.
for ILLA you need to put it at high colour (16bits) or true colour (32bits)
if i remember correctly, to find out the memory of your graphik card, you should go in settings/control panel.
i m not shure about english, but there should be something like graphik or video.
and dont hope for a high number. if you would have a 256MB graphik card, the hole in your bank account would remember you perfectly...
look for something between 16 and 128 MB, thats more probable.
(have a look, where your screen is plugged in. if it is near the plugs for keyboard and mouse, (and not where the additional cards are) it's probable, that you got less than 64 MB of graphic memory)
happy seeking,korm

Wait Vista is out? I ordered my laptop with Centrino so I can load Vista. Now for the summer I am somewhere else. So I could tell my father to load Vista and come and here I want to load more software.( did not load software because then I would have to load all over again once I got new OS)
Korm I am 16 I dont have a bank account.
have to wait more.
Oh ya almost forgot. My graphics memory = well i cant find it and the plug is not plugged in additional graphics card. I opened my computer and the PCI slot is empty. So it must be less than 64. Wait is Virtual memory graphics memory?
But I still cant believe it does not work on my desktop at home which is P4 and it works here P3 and this is WS 98Se and that is XP. Odd.
Thanks again

swish,
do you know what MBRAM is? thats the shorttime memory for the processor, so that it can store some, while calculating other things. the virtual memory is a windows programm, that uses a part of your hard drive, when your MBRAM flows over.
my 98se computer is in the capitol for repair. when its back, ill tell you step by step, where to find your graphik memory.
thats not odd, if a good 98se works better, than xp. xp has so much things running behind stage, that it needs a lot resources to play with itself.
my 98 is better for playing illa than my xp compi as well...
concerning vista, there must be an official beta version somewhere in the net. for those who are not afraid of anything.
donal,
here in the middle of no where in southamerica videocards cost a fortune...

Korm, I know a lot about computers. i took a hardware courses last year. Ram is actually Random Access Memory. The higher you have it more programs you can run. Think about it for a second when you copy something where does it go. Ram. When you open a word document and typed hello before saving it where is it? Here try this download some MS Word file and instead of clicking save click open. Once you opened go to file save as. It will display its current location which is a number. That number is Ram. ( make sure the document your loading is not a virus for New bees who try this) I forgot the name. It is not a PCI slot. Darn it, it is brown.. i forgot its name. Oh well. This was just to explain. If you want to discuss this further PM me. Because this will spam this topic.

Latest upgrade.
Still running a P2 450 Mhz
256 MB ram
Win 98se on 56k dial-up
I had a 32MB PCI Nvidia TNT card which ran Illa well on LOW settings. I just upgraded to a 64MB Nvidia Geforce 4 mx420 AGP 2x card and now it runs perfectly on HIGH settings.
Just proves what Nop said all along, its the graphics card that is important not the processor/ram/etc. (though it obviously helps to have these things in you pc as well...

HILFE?
