herb lore
How exactly can you increse this skill? I just used to "pick up" plants (with no effect) until someone told me that you need to "use" them on the groud. I tried that but nothing happened
Some plants that you shift click to use increase herb lore I think. When you shift click a plant that's fixed you might get something like "You find nothing but dry leaves and grass", I think this is herb lore. And a successful search would be when you use the plant and something is put into your inventory.
I don't think dragging things from the ground into your inventory will increase the skill.

i am at the point where i can't learn anything at this skill... i shift+click on plants countless times without any result. So i'd bought a sickle, but i don't really know how to use it.. do i "use with" any part of the ground or just plants like until now?Gro'bul wrote:Naw, herb lore is pretty non-productive craft anyway. At some point your char won't learn from shift+clicking plants anymore, you'll have to use sickle+ground.

It does, you cannot gain skill after a certain point just using landscape herbs. The key is you HAVE to find a herb to gain skill, otherwise you won't get anything from it. The only tiles I can find herbs on is farmland.Nerian Finera wrote:(and about the sickle, don't know...don't think it increases any skill)

I've tried gathering saplings and things in farm land with the sickle as well as gathering from every log, tree, flower, and grass patch around. I don't seem to be getting any better at herb lore whatsoever.
Futhermore places I used to be able to collect things at a decent rate have become about 10 times harder.
I've heard with fighting, creatures have different 'levels' and once you get to a certain skill,l level 1 monters don't help you learn. If this is true and there is a similar case with herb lore? Can we have dev confirmation that there is some way to develop skill in herb lore past a certain point. My skill is teal right now. I have tried about 1000 tries I wager without a skillgain.

You cannot gain skill by simply using things after a certain point, it must be gained with sickle after that point. Static objects like plants no longer have a infinate amount of resources, and ground tiles are 20 plants per 20 tiles. I guess theres problems with sickle+ground everywhere except farmland, even then, you must have sucess to gain skill. It is however possible to gain skill through fails at static resources. I don't know whats up with the rest of the tiles concerning sickle+ground.

There used to be (or still are) three ways to get herbs.
1. The "Gaya- system", which drops herbs anywhere onthe ground where you just have to pick them up. No skill used or increased here.
2. Use sickle with ground and herbs will appear randomly around you. The devs want to get rid of this system.
2. Use sickle with landscape objects.
