Portal use

Just going to ask that whomever pushed the lot of the ogres and most the wolves and skeletions from skeletion forest into portals to trollsbane stop doing this from now on. and same for anyone whom does it or will do it in the future.

sometimes it can be fun and sometimes people don't mind. but usually it gets out of hand as it did tonight and many nights in the past when someone uses a portal to find 8 ogres and a horde of other monsters standing around the portal zone. theres no reason for this, especially during completely peaceful times. i see no reason why one persons boredom has to lead to several other people being clouded. this act can technically be considered pking as player deaths are incirectly caused by another players actions. just because you didn't do it with your character doesn't mean it's not your responsibility, or would go unpunished if someone happens to report you.

lets all keep in mind that there are alot of players whom don't own fighter character, and many newbies now a days, theres no need to ruin there rp atmosphere because a single individual is bored.

it doesn't matter who did it. Just that attention i brought to it for the future. excessively portalling monsters because your nights dull, is nothing more in direct pking, which isn't very funny or very fair.

We had the same thing in Greenbriar earlier. Funny thing was it didn't happen for 2 1/2 hours, then right when the auction began, there were wolves. I think it was a cheap shot by someone who was pissed he couldn't bid on the buildings. And yes, It should be considered PK'ing as if they did it themselves.

Pushing monsters through portals is cheesy and cheap. Besides, who ever heard of 'pushing' an Ogre into anything? Usually they grind you to a pulp first! Where's the RP in that? I think the 'uber' characters of this game need better monsters to fight, because if they get their kicks off of pushing monsters through portals just to screw with people, they either need something better to do, or be severly penalized. It's just Bull$%&*, come on, get a life.

Can we change monsters and NPC's to not be 'pushable' please!!!!!!!!!!

We could just disable the portals for monsters...

But i think thats kidda crap, because the characters who want to flee out of a dungeon activate the portals without thinking...

And they have been used to send monsters through in a genuine RP sense. However the Temple only uses it for summoned monsters.

Move the target locations (in Troll's Bane) out of town...

And in general: Use portals a bit aloofly (cool word) from streets etc; I don't wanna always avoid portals who are in the middle of a street.

No, wrong...The auction thing didn't bother me to much. That was settled befor I left Green Briar yesterday.

No, I wasn't talking about Gort. If I remember right, He was still in Greenbriar when those things came during the Auction. Maybe you did some afterwards and in Trollsbane too, I dunno.

Unfortunately its a tactic I think is overused and plain unfair to the many non-fighting characters who can't out run a wolf or jaguar. Where's the RP in portal pushing? It simply ruins the RP of others if there is no reason for it. I have tried playing a non-fighter character, as the Homepage of IIlarion suggests, but find it's impossible.

Portals should be a convenience for travel. If they become too much trouble because of portal pushing, I believe more people will want them removed. There is a growing trend, from what I hear, to move portals away from cities and roads. I think I'm in favor of that if it safeguards 'protected' areas for beginners and non-fighters. Then, no-one would be able to just go from town to town without lots of long walking first, or even locked gates when you get there. Do you 'portal pushers' want that? Lots of innocents are affected by these tactics. You're ruining it for the rest of us.

All I'm asking is just be a little more discreet with your 'pushing', RP the event or even give us non-fighters a little warning first. Maybe as a quest event, or rumors 'Thread', or just send a note by a flaming arrow into the town.....something!
