Can't confirm that. I was at the eastern swamp yesterday and fought some flies (with Elf Mage Staff, wearing leather hunting armor) and their damage was not that high (but higher than was used to).Retlak wrote:Flies are a pain in the arse, Retlak uses a mace on them and hits everytime, but they must have 15 consitution or something, i know it is hard to hit and would last a while to kill but the damage they do is alot.

i was not sure how it worked. if indivuals images can be changed or only be narrowed down to races, it was an idea bouncing around in my head is all and had just planed to ask about it. I was under the impression that lizards fight with there claws as in roleplay so they have a claw icon apear when they fight, I was just curious to if there was a way to narrow indivuals down within the fighting system and change the image seeing as how is a monk trainer and fights something of the same as a man or elf. If this is just some stupid somewhat selfish idea only say so and i will drop it.

Didn't know where else to put this.
But I have found that,
(I am using a character with lightblue puncture, and a single dagger)
You can actually kill things faster turned away from them, without taking alot more damage.
(Tested on Mummies only.)
I didn't know if this was intentional, so I posted anyway.

That could be explained with the extra concentration etc. you need for the usage of a shield. If you only carry one 1h weapon, you can focus fully on your weapon.Gro'bul wrote:You do less damage with 1h weapon and shield than 1h alone.
Otherwise, 1 h weapons without shield would be quite useless, I think.

I’m curious, could wrestling possibly be made to parry? I would understand if your not going to block a blade being swung at you but maybe dodge it, though I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to block others using hand combat as well as some blunt weapons. as of now wrestling is somewhat useless against those with weapons but if it could parry some I believe it would be more formidable.
Or perhaps steel gloves could act as the shield and be worn to block with or to block blades.

blocking does make sense to me. in a sort of way. blocking would only lower the amount of damage that you take which happens anyway as you dodge and parry go up.
some notable points to 'wrestling'
it's a very bad title for 'unarmed' combat. we've already agreed that whats actually done in 'wrestling' will be left to the rp (some may choose to rp actual wrestling, others martial arts and so on.) but as it stands it's a fairly useless skill.
lets go through some things first. let remind everyone that this ia a rpg not real life. but we'll use some basic's anyway.
parrying with your bare hands is possible, but it would only be with some weapons. a staff or a even a mace, as well as weapons with a long pole. however your hands feet elbows knee's are all part of your body. thusly it would be expected to take some damage from such a manuver.
dodging would be best in this case however for some reason your parry will always outmove you dodge. even when your using wrestling (as of right now my parry is higher then my dodge and i've never parried even once in combat). might as well make partial use of it
a big one i always here is wrestling should be weaker, it would hurt to punch metal with your hands. true yes, but need to be that realistic isn't needed. more over everyone's hands are usually wrapped in metal anyway (knight gloves). but the concept is the same for punching as it is for a concussion blow. a soft body inside of unbending materials like metal will take damage form the blow. lets say a head shot one someone wearing a helm. now imagine your head is inside of a a large bell, no more then about 4 centimeters away from touching your skin. and the fist is the bell pole. would suck a bit right?
wrestling was changed slightly recently however i also note some of the monsters will now be very weak. any monster using wrestling type skills has been severly weakened (poor rot worms...if they ever come back)
overall wrestling should do more damage or have some sort of advantageous point to it. perhaps it stuns people when it lands a critical blow. i heard that was an idea for awhile. or maybe it has a higher chance of critical then other fighting forms.
lets face it. wrestling will never be as good as it's brother fighting skills if you pit two people with equal ability against eachother. (as in same dodge/parry and evened fighting skill of choice) thats fine, but there no point in making it invalid completely.
my two cents

Well spoken, Athian.
And Wrestling/Ringen are really not the fitting names for it...
Maybe some special "unarmed weapons" like spiked gloves (or normal hand armor as weapons) should be introduced?
Other point:
I heard that mages can't cast spell if they get hit. I think that should be the same with wizard NPC enemies!

Feel free to propose something new.Miklorius wrote:Well spoken, Athian.

If you have this a item in the slot of your hand, its okay. Else its not. Armors currently just can't be handled as weapons.Miklorius wrote:Maybe some special "unarmed weapons" like spiked gloves (or normal hand armor as weapons) should be introduced?

Unarmed Combat, for example.Nitram wrote:Feel free to propose something new.
Yes, it has to be in the hand slot. If they are gloves, they have to block the gloves slot.If you have this a item in the slot of your hand, its okay. Else its not. Armors currently just can't be handled as weapons.
And maybe normal armor gloves could use as armor or as a weapon?
Why? Maybe via some kind of distant check ("if player on tile next to me, I won't cast")?Nitram wrote:Impossible.Miklorius wrote:I heard that mages can't cast spell if they get hit. I think that should be the same with wizard NPC enemies!
I ask, because it is not so funny that there are quite some differences between PvE and PvP.
