Thieves/Player killing
Recently, a thief character was scrutinised by a player (talking OCC without (()) but whats not the point). He said that i was "PKing" because I was attacking him. I was infact attacking him for his possessions, but he did not know that.
This seems to be a very easily confused matter, and I recommend it be reviewed.
Just an add on to this, from reading another post, what if your character kills for "kicks"? Or they are slightly insane, or some other freak reason?

In real life, if someone kills for kicks, they arn;t deleted or restrained from making further characters, they are put in jail for some time, or given a fine.
If, on the other hand, someone is jsut running around killing people madly with no thought of what they are doing, that is player killing.
It's a 2 sided matter with a very thin red line.
A thiefs life runs on that line.

Though i guess in real life an assassin dosen;t shout "Hey Primeminister, stay still for a sec while I shoot ya please!".
I'll review this psot tomorrow, see how it;s to be dealt.

No, a bandit/mugger runs on that thin line. They also usually don't if they give somewhat fair warning.
As well, suspicious #mes work. Even if it is just to prepare the player ooc.

heres how I rp thiefs in a very, very basic and non-detailed form
#me sneaks up on the man and tries to take some coins out of his pouch
man drops some coins on the ground for you to pick up
usualy (from what I have expierienced) depending on how clever your scheme is, and how good your rp is, determines how much you will get, or how valueable the item is.

To be completely honest, "Say Goodnight Mr X" is very cheesy. Since your character most likely is nowhere near as skilled as many of the characters currently ingame I would advise against such tagline-killing; especially since you heard Keikan's stance on the thin-to-no-reason kills situation.
I'm going to be level and say that if I saw a player act in the manner you describe I would assume that the player wasn't really playing Illarion for the roleplay. In other words, you need to understand that Illarion is not Tibia.
There have been a few successful and many unsuccessful "insane" characters portrayed in Illarion. The more successful ones I have seen have some background reason to them: a bad childhood, a curse or illness, whatever. The character doesn't just walk around ctrl+clicking. This will definitely cause some (justified, imho) complaints. Use a line such as the ones suggested above, or maybe describe your character as deranged-looking or appearing aggressive.
A few examples of what is generally accepted ingame:
BAD:
"Haha, Die!" *stabs*
*walks up without any roleplay and stabs*
"PREPARE 2 DIE!" *stabs*
etc.
GOOD:
#me has a deranged look in his eyes and stares greedily at your bag.
#me has a suspicously unfriendly look to him.
or some variation on looking strange/sneaking up on someone.
In summation, it is a really BAD idea to just attack someone without a valid reason. If your character truly is crazy and attacks for the lust of it, at least give the other players some warning by describing his aggressive appearance. The other rule of thumb, DO NOT kill a player in succession. This means, do not follow him to the cross and kill him again.
Anyway, that's my take on it.

P.S: it really is bad to attack for no reason...you should always type ((I'm killing your character)) before you do so

Its this way because we say so. Get a grip dude, its a game. There are some degrees of realism that are required and some aspects that are tossed aside. Follow the rules or you ruin the game for everyone else. Its not to be 'dealt with' at all except by informing you that if you do it again you can say goodbye to Illarion. Because you've been warned.dannycool75 wrote:Really....woops.Avalyon el'Hattarr wrote:you first must RP the atack or anounce the guy ooc.. it's against the rules to attack like that
