For want of our old roleplay.

Everything about Illarion that fits nowhere else. / Alles über Illarion was inhaltlich in kein anderes Board passt.

The time we spent complaining about newbees we can teach a newbee.
If we RP separate than we will never grow. the newbees would play among themselves and us among ourselves. I dont think I like this too much.

Plus, you were a new bee when you started, think back and see how would you feel when good rpers left to a place and let you rp alone or with bad RPERS.

A new bee today could be your favorite person to RP with tommorow.

Again I disagree with this idea.
Sweet sentiments and all, but why don't you read the entire thread before posting next time?

I only read part of this, first few posts yatta yatta.
I find the newbies and such annoying to at times, such as most of us.
But here are some problems I see:
-Chars would avoid places for OOC reasons
-If those 'better' roleplayers who actualy care more about rp then levels arn't there to help the newbies with their rp, who will? Basicly you would simply be working toward a game where rp is optional.
-The continueity(Hurray for my spelling) stuff is gone, and there will only be few people around at the 'good rpers town'
-It's simply wrong and somewhat selfish to. If the 'good' rpers avoid Trollsbane and such there will be far less to instruct those that are willing, resulting in Illarion going back to the way it was when 12 players online was alot.

Its not so much good roleplayers as people who are friends with each other on MSN and tend to plan every action they do ingame to a T. the roleplayers who do so on a fly will still be around rest assured ;)

Oh my god! Kevin knows Japanese!

...

Anyways....I think it's a good idea. A campsite would make for very nice roleplay, in more ways than one *wink*.

...

Shutting up.

I just dont like the idea of things being separated into 'ghettos' like this.
Newbies deserve a chance, period.

I don't agree with an area just for RP.

Illarion is a roleplaying game, so you should RP ALL the time... however it seems to have gone out of fashion... for some people anyway.

Last time i was pig-killing, and #meing diving, punching ect... while nobody did anything else...

Same day I found a fairy who went through all the trouble of a loong RP session involving a scared stiff halfling.

Its not the noobs problem... its just a few of them, and a GM should get in there every now and then and weed out a few.

Personally, I think this suggestion weak for a few reasons.

First of all, you won't find your old rp out in the middle of nowhere. You'll find a new sort of rp that might be altogether too contrived and seem forced.

There are different kinds of rp and different qualities and different levels and different expectations. That might sound hypocritical coming from me considering some things I've said in the past but I stress that I'm of the opinion that these subsets are all fine and acceptable--that is *where* and *when* they are fine and acceptable.

If you've been pushed into a corner of the map, you've lost, frankly. I see all the old players that I know saying that they've "lost their fun" and they're leaving Illarion or they're just not playing like they used to and yet... amazingly the numbers of players online are quite a bit more than they ever were before.

It doesn't suprise me to see people go. I've watched a few generations of Illarion players come and go only to be replaced. Who's left of those who were here when I started? Aristeaus, Damien, Jennifer, Errian, and Patric? Is there any more?

Just as, perhaps, some of the new crowd don't fit into your sort of rp, I can almost guarantee that your rp would have been alien to the old guard long ago before they either left or got used to it. With each new crowd that came in we either engaged them and found some healthy medium to rp in (or sometimes did things less diplomatically, more than once, I'm sure), or we, well, pissed off.

I'm pretty sure I've finally left Illarion as a player, but it isn't about roleplay.(it's more somewhere between the feeling that it's just time, and the knowledge that I'll never be able to truly and fully be a player like I was before I became a GM) I'm absolutely sure I could adapt quite easily to the rp that's going on, and, if not, there are other solutions. Hiding is not one of them.
