Rankor Deathronk, a threat no more.

Rankor Deathronk, a threat no more.
Today, after being attacked, with no warning, inside the town's walls by Rankor Deathronk, stating for reason I had "insulted" his "friend" Gort, which deserves more than an insult, he has been wounded to near-death by myself, the Captain of the Guards Phillippe and the Town's Guard Liles. He has then been dragged to the Northen Woods in order to solve the situation outside Troll's Bane. He would not collaborate, and state but obscenities and insults. We then decided to sentence him to prison. The Captain decided this actually. He would not cooperate and tried running away. After being chased down and captured again, he riposted quite.. violently if I can say, we had but no choice then to paralyze him, and it was not easy, he had to be pinned to the ground. But after recieving a few hits from him, we decided he would not calm down, and he got... quite a beating. He would not stop his foolishness and dared us to finish him. Even after being litterally beaten to the ground, he would not stop. We meditated about his past crimes, murders and infractions, and decided his last one was the last chance we could accord him. And it is with regret I must announce that we finished him.
May his soul rest and haunt no more.
My appologies to whomever cared about this being, he had done too much, and I hope other bandits learn from this occurence. No one will stay unpunished for their crimes.

Before threatening me for doing good, do sign your name. I hope you do not expect me to fear someone who is coward enough not to sign his identity? And you say sorrow is not enough for his death? Sorrow you say? Need I state his countless murders, thieveries and other crimes?

Though it is easy for you whom were not there and certainly never had Rankor's blade slicing at you to preach about how it would have been better to take him to jail peacefully. Indeed, you will find no arguement from me, stealing ones life and sending them directly to cherga is never a good thing to do. However the situation gave no other option; he was fighting tooth and nail and refused to go to jail after assaulting a member of the guard and threatening numerous people nearby, (not to mention the warrant already out for his arrest). Letting him go was not an option, he would not have lived a peaceful life and no doubt would harm another person through robber or plain murder, his extensive criminal record should prove that to all without doubt.
However feel free to go on and to speak ill of our intentions and beliefs. No doubt we were all sharing a drink to his death in the tavern and patting ourselves on the backs for such a great thing we did.

You keep your mouth, and ink, shut of honor! You killed a man today, out of cold blood! You think that honorful?! You say there was no other way?! There are many ways! Knock him unconcious, don't bloody kill him! To the damn with the new guard, killing was never an option, and never should be!

I believe you are right, Baurus.
A man who murders for no reason, robs the weak, and assaults people for to no apparent end, is not much of a threat. Maybe if we stood in line in front of him, a dagger in the hand, waiting each by our turn to be stabbed in the head, then, would he be called a threat.

You did well, you did what i would have done, do not listen to these lads that would preach to you about non-violence and mercy. Mark this advise well lad, show what ever mercy to the criminals as they did to thier victims. Those who are now preaching to you do not know the first thing about having to defend a town that is almost constantly plagued with crimes and attacks, they have not the first inclinc as to what it means to be a guard.
Any, ANY, who threatin the guard of trollsbane or trollsbane itself will not only have to deal with the newly appointed guard, but they will also have to deal with me.

Aswell as I. Relven is correct. The Guard did well. They are on their way to being a True Guard. A Guard is a force that uses weapons. If you want non-violence useage to protect the town, Make the scholars try and talk to a demon. Then tell me how it goes if they don't all die. I will protect, and train the current Guards in the ways of the Old Guard, if any should so wish it.

I am more than happy to see that there is actually someone who supports my actions. Finally being appreciated for my true valeur, at least someone who knows that I only want peace and justice. I thank you both, as for, T.W. is it I read? Well, I do not know your identity, but I would be more than glad to recieve your assistance, please send me a dove.

I understand your words. Note that it was not my decision.
And I strongfully doubt he had asked the people's opinion or vote before murdering the innocent victims he slayed.
Therefor, the people who stand against the Town Guard's decision to execute this man, sign on the left side of this scroll and justify your choice. The ones who believe he deserved his sentence, mark your identity on the right side. I will let his linger two days. If I find out he has not deserved his death for murdering innocent people, then I shall appologies and measures I will take to make -almost- everyone satisfacted.

Baurus, ever the critict as usual. I do not see you taking up arms defending the town from bandits, killers, demons, drow, and undead. The people do not decide the fate of a criminal, that is left to trials, and granted there is a jury of citizens in the trial, a mans sentance is NOT a voting matter for the entire town. Once you have grown man parts and fight every single day for the town untill you nearly die time and time over again, never will you understand what the guard must do to protect the ungrateful whelps like you.
New members of the guard, you are young, and you will learn that ungratefull fools like Baurus here will come at you from every direction questioning the method in which you defend them. Disregard them compleatly.

This is a point the guard of Troll's Bane seems completely unable to comprehend!
It is *entirely* possible to run, and yes, defend a town without resorting to threatening and killing every person who breaks a law.
And moreso (this sounds like such a familiar argument; life truly goes in circles) Rankor may have indeed deserved exactly what he was given. In my experiences with him, I dare say he was completely unfit for life in any sort of society. HOWEVER, vile crimes or not, the guard should not have the right to make such a decision about his fate. Such matters should be decided only through an official trial and sentencing. In the entire matter concerning Rankor, in all the times he was placed in jail, I do not recall there ever having been a proper trial. And now the man is dead, without ever having been given the chance to say his own piece. I do not nor have I ever said that every man should be shown mercy, that no man should ever face execution. But there is a due process that should be followed in making such decisions!
I do not preach total non-violence, nor mercy for everyone. But I think much can be accomplished without bloodshed, and I also think that there is a *way* in which certain matters... such as taking the life of a man... should be handled.

I would also like to add that Baurus *IS* a member of the militia of Varshikar, and he has already stood bravely at my side, and been cut down for it, on more than one occasion.

Lady Kemoc, how easy is it to apprehend a man when he is attacking you with a sword? How easy it is to not a man down when he is attacking you directly? You defend yourself and a blade goes into him and he dies. You need not a trial for something so simple.

It is a sad thing, the town has always been this way, back to the days of the Northerot wars. Just remember you are defending them, do not expect any thanks. But every once in a while you will hear those two words "thank you", keep those words in your mind. The fools that will critisize you might one day say those two words to you. Remember you do this for the good of the town and those that dwell within in. Even if they are the fools that question the method in which you defend them. Stead fast, and keep to your resolve, and stand behind what you do. If ever you young lads of the new guard need my aid, you need only call, and i will bring with me perhaps some older guards to aid you in your plights.

Re: Rankor Deathronk, a threat no more.
This does not sound like a matter of self-defense. This sounds like a conscious decision on the part of the guard, and this is what I am objecting to. If it had been in the heat of battle in self-defense on the guard's part, it would be another matter entirely.Karl Salameh wrote:We meditated about his past crimes, murders and infractions, and decided his last one was the last chance we could accord him. Rahz... Don't make me put you non-combat-able over just this simple thing.. You too Baurus..
Foggy days are good days to die. If you cannot sacrifice your life for something, you are not worth to live. Rankor is a man who has sacrificed his for what he believes, and he is a man of respect, even if I do think he is a weakling. He has done much things that even the evil would only think about as a last oppertunity.
If not for popularity, I guess he has nothing left to live for, and then I shall take his life, if I ever find him. I have my own reasons aswell for doing this, he has done something that is in my eyes unforgiveable.
Phillippe, I got my eyes on you aswell.
As for the guard, I agree with 'The Lone Wolf', the guard is beginning to know it's place and do what it's supposed to do.
Tahlian Lylth.. I've seen several knights and others kill out of cold blood and they've gotten more honour for the deed than you could ever dream of. Killing is a good option, as the gods have granted us with the possibility of ressurection. It teaches you that you are not strong enough to continue living on the run. Be warned, I got my eyes on you too.

Well this discussion should last no more, and what has been done cannot be repaired. Next time, I shall think twice before killing a man. I have never killed a being before Rankor, and I intend it to keep it to that number, yet again, if they deserve mercy. And believe me, I am one of the most merciful folks you'll find around.

Whoever believes I have misused my powers, and over-took an opportunity to stop this criminal's acts, please, step forward to me, and take my position as Town Guard, or at least, Recruit Town Guard. If you can do any better, I shall abdicate my position.

And now, if someone believes I have anything to ammeliorate about the way I guard, please, send me a dove, or sit with me on a table, like civilized people, and I will be more than glad to listen to you. Thank you.
