Recent Problems
Recently there has been an undeclared war between Gort, Kugrug, Richard Cypher and an unknown human and the would be guards of Trolls Bane's future. Two times in as many days this group has begun to hunt down not only myself but Karl Salameh and a harmless halfling named Alaric. Their goal it appears is to make sure that Trolls Bane does not have the time to build a guard with which to keep them out of Trolls bane effectively with. We did not provoke them in anyway, unless trying to stop them from attacking people in town or robbing people would be considered provoking them.
I tried to make peace with Gort, that I would forget all he had done if he would promise not to harm anymore people. He told me his business would be his business and not mine and then attacked me with his bandit gang. And today he did the same tactic, attacked myself while I was making my way back to Trolls Bane, he attacked (As usual in larger numbers), with Richard Cypher. I evaded them long enough and wrote on the boards what I had heard from numerous people. Gort was after Dusty Bottoms head, so I made my way to Greenbriar with Karl Salameh and Arameh.
However when we got there, we did infact catch Gort and Richard Cypher coming and surrounded them. We had our chance to end this threat, Gort was surrounded as was Richard, yet even after the threats Gort made, after the crimes and numerous robbers he has done, Dusty protected him. Telling us that he would not let us harm him, that he was a citizen of Greenbriar and that we had no right to harm him. Mayor Bottoms, in all his wisedom has turned from Trolls bane entirely and embraces now bandits as his citizens.
I write this to state the problems and evils of Gort, but also to state the problems and corruption that is plaguing Greenbriar. I will not allow Gort to attack people in Trolls Bane and run into Greenbriar and being given sanctuary there by Mayor Bottoms. It goes too far and is too dangerous.
I also ask for aid from the Grey Rose and the Magic Academy and any other warriors to help myself and those in Trolls Bane who want to stop these bandits. Do not let them walk freely anymore, as they do terrorize anyone and everyone they catch alone. And it will need the entire island to stop them permanently.
Thank you,
Phillippe Charboneau, Paladin of Elara

You are trying to sway the people against us when you are in fact wrong. Stop twisting the facts to suit your needs. Gort and me did nothing and my personal battle with Karl is none of your concern. I am warning you stop spreading lies.

As most know, when I first crossed the threshold of Gobaith, my intentions were pure, only willing to defend and ensure the serenity of its inhabitants as well as I could. I am still weak, I admit it, but I have the faith and courage to progress. I have never seeked combat and turned down every single duel I could. Not by cowardise, but by wisedom. In fact, not much hostilities has occured between me and any resident of Gobaith, except a respectable Lizard called Skaalib Drurr who mistakenly thought I seeked a duel, and got annoyed when I turned down the combat. My appologies to this being.
Now recently, Lord Phillippe has offered his help training, I have gladly accepted his assistance. Throughout the days, I have learnt to respect him and admire him. He has learnt to know me too, as most of you did. He has heard my motives, as noble as they are, and also offered to recruit me as a Town's Guard if he ever wins the ellection, which I shall not argue on this reply. He has earnt my trust, and my blade. After him, followed many great individuals I also pledge allegiance with, as long as their purposes are righteous. Them be it; High Knight Arameh, Mark Strongarm, Chief Ku 'Agor, Nalcaryos von Weißhafen, Ludin Weihenstein, Lady Siltaris, Lilles, Gildon de Vymont,
Orren Padick, Vorg Skullsnap (I still want that beer from you.), Aeron Nevas (My carpentry master.), and so did I think, Mister Dusty Bottoms, but it seems not the case. The list goes on. And I cannot but yearn that they will offer their support to stop this threat. Please take notice, I said stop this threat. My wish isn't to ban Gort permanently, I know every being can change, and I trust Gort will calm down a day. But till this hour comes, we must do our best to stop his actions. All the citizens who have known me, discern that I would not be there, writing these words, if I did not find it necessary. I am still willing to give a chance to Gort, I am willing to make peace, and it would be the most enjoyable solution for either of us. I call you to arms, my brothers. Let us prevent this threat from growing, and stop it while we can.
A word to Mayor Dusty Bottoms of Greenbriar, who had my respect, and still has it even after this incident. I beileve he has made the wrong decision, not to be questioning his wisdom. Please, we will offer protection, and serenity to you, and the inhabitants of Greenbriar. Do not rely on Gort - for the moment at least. - for such peacekeeping.
To Richard; I still wish to speak to you, and solve this problem else than by the sword. I believe you are an honorable man, and I am sure we can build a aura atmosphere of peace and respect if we sit on a table, with a mug of beer and talk for a few. And I request you halt the rumours about me trying to rob you in the town's library. Thank you.
I have no more to say, I hope this will convince you.

Poor Phillippe
As if I was dealt with by you. I handed you a beating you ran away drank a potion then came back with a more powerful weapon. Then when I was obeying Elensar because he said leave, you kept attacking. ((Then during the last minute my computer lagged so my character was helpless.)) I could not even fight back. I will teach you your proper place you misguided idiot.

I have considered the events of today in Greenbriar. My actions were in line with my "Duty" to protect our citizens.
I appreciate the intentions of Arameh, Philippe and Karl, in their concern for my safety. They truly thought I was endangered and I thank them for that. Once it was resolved that I wasn't in Danger, it should have ended there.
The line was crossed however, when you conspired to attack two of our county citizens then and there with such choice phrases as "Lets end this now..." and "we can kill this criminal.."
I had to intervene. The first time I have ever drawn a sword, and may it be the last.
Perhaps Briar County is still a joke to the high and mighty of TrollsBane, but it is 'another' nation, with its own laws, rules and 'culture'. Citizens here will be protected at all costs. How dare they enter the town I serve and quote me TrollsBane laws as a justification! Sir Gort may be a criminal there, but he is not here, and I stated that fact. I will not allow any of our citizens to be handed over to a group of thugs out on a holy crusade. If they have grievances with Richard or Sir Gort, catch them in TrollsBane, for once they cross into Briar County, they are no longer in Trolls Bane's jurisdiction.
Nations are created for a reason, for the people who live there. What our citizens do outside of Briar County are their own concern. We encourage everyone to follow the laws of other towns and Nations, but we cannot Police all of Gobiath, only our own County. Sir Gort and Richard may be criminals in TrollsBane, there has been no trial I have heard that determines that, but don't dare come here, disrespecting our laws, trying to capture or kill our citizens! No other Nation would stand for it, and neither will we.
For his provocative attitude toward our citizens and failure to leave as requested when lives were in jeopardy, Karl Salameh is hereby banned from "Hamlet of Greenbriar" for 2 weeks.
Any other "Holy" Warriors coming here to do what he attempted today, will meet with swift justice as well. Read our laws and respect the fact that we are a separate "Nation", completely separate and autonomous from Trolls Bane. There are crimes and consequences here as well, and Richard and Sir Gort have committed none. Until they do, they are safe here, as citizens.
Respectfully,
~Dusty Botoms, Mayor of Greenbriar~

The orc called Kugrug tried to kill me today and rob my corpse. Without any further warning he attacked me from behind when I was looking through my depot. After I defeated him, he even was so nervy to demand his weapons and armor back. And after he hasn't got them, he threaten me with his "bandit gang", that they will get me soon.
This bandits became quiet a problem now, and I suggest that the isle gatheres against them.
And Dusty, should you protect peoples who attack innocents to kill and rob them, because they haven't done it on your land, than you help them by their crimes, and can be concidered a criminal yourself. Just that you know it.

So you know.
So you know Shandariel Kugrug does not have a bandit gang. He is using the rumors to influence his words. Also did Dusty ever mention his name?
NO HE DID NOT SO DO NOT PUT WORDS IN HIS MOUTH! Whatever happened to you was based on Kugrug doing what ever he wants. It happens do not cry about it. Just state the facts here so others know. No need to dramatize.

Dear Shandariel el Lysanthrai,
Thank you for proving my point about how little others think of us as a separate Nation. I am no criminal for doing my duty to my town, to my Nation, to my God.
If Maggie Kermoc had broken a law in Trollsbane, would you then go to Varshikar to arrest or kill her under Lord Willowbrook's gaze? I think not.
If Thurbert had committed a 'crime' in Trollsbane, would you go to Silverbrand to arrest or kill him without respecting their King? Unless you are 'mad', you wouldn't dare.
The fact is, if there is an issue with any of our citizens, you must work through diplomatic channels to resolve them. We will protect our citizens as avidly as Varshiker, Silverbrand or any other Nation would. Please respect this. The best thing you could do is work to bolster the local guard or police force of your own town. Short of open War, I'll die first before any of our citizens are harmed here without cause. Cause being crimes in Briar County alone, that's all we can enforce.
Respectfully,
~Dusty Bottoms, Mayor of Greenbriar~

For my part, I believe Mister Bottom's decision has been took without meditation. Personally, I think it is unfair. During the whole process, I have not threatened to kill Gort, but to apprehend him. When Sire Arameh and Phillippe went, and I stayed to have a discussion with Richard, he listened not. I told him that he will not stay unpunished for his lies, and Gort, Richard, and I believe Mr. Bottoms too withdrew their weapons and attacked me. Not once have I unfitted my weapon to defend myself. I simply ran away. Well, now I wonder, why have I been banned? For promissing castigation for Richard's lies? Or for trying to protect a being I mind about, therefor Mr. Bottoms? I believe I have not broken any laws of either Greenbriar, either Troll's Bane to merit this chastisement. I believe you are a wise man Mr. Bottoms, please, revise your decision, and if so it stays, then I shall respect it and not set foot in Greenbriar unless I must; after the two weeks, of course but would also appreciate Gort and Richard to recieve the same punishment as I did, as they were the ones to draw first blood, even though I have never attacked them.

Dear Karl,
As you said yourself, you tried to 'apprehend' them. You have no jurisdiction to do so in this County. Furthermore, provoking them with 'death' threats and other 'disorder' in the streets are against the laws here. Finally, when you wouldn't stop your provocation, I personally asked you to leave three times. Once should have been enough. If I were some sort of 'King' or 7 foot high, maybe you would have heeded my request more seriously. Unfortunately, you did not heed such a simple request from an 'Official' of the Government here. At that point, you were 'escorted' off of the Island with 'severe prejudice'. The Ban for 2 weeks stands as punishment.
Any return to Greenbriar will result in a further escort and/or further punishment as necessary. After the 2 weeks, you are free to return but, read our laws first and act accordingly.
Respectfully,
~Dusty Bottoms~

Apprehend means not drawing swords.
I did not provoke anyone or threaten anyone of death.
I wonder why you did not set the same punishment to Sire Arameh and Phillippe? Not that I want any of them to be, but maybe is it because of their high importance in Gobaith's Society? Maybe because they could actually do some good to Greenbriar? Well, I intended to do the best I could to all of Gobaith as much as I could, but since I am unwelcomed on Greenbriar, so be it. What about Gort and Kugor? Didn't they pull their swords in town? I believe weapons do much more harm than words.
I reckon since they have the priviledge to be citizens of Greenbriar, they do have the right to unfit their gear and poke me with them. Well. If so is your decision, I will respect it. And it is not because of your small corpulence I did not obey your order to part, but mainly since I wanted to make things clear, and know why Richard was calling me a thief.

You do not seem to realise, Mister Salameh, that you can not 'apprehend' any person in Greenbriar under Trollsbane law, for Greenbriar has its own laws and customs regarding criminal fugitives. I was not present at this incident so I cannot comment on the treatment of you compared to Arameh.

It is widely and accepted by most of these lands that if a citizen of a certain town commits a crime in another town, that town is responsible in seeing that criminal is not given safe haven in their home town. That is the way Trolls bane stands and as Captain of the guard I will enforce it to make sure our citizens are not surrounded by bandits.

We are unlike other parts of the world guard. Here in our backwards Briar we do not have war or bloodshed. Yet you seem persistant to bring it to our shores.
We try those who have broken our laws. It matters not what those have done in other places, as long as they are civil and abide by our laws when present.
We shall not extradite any that seek refuge from the pit of war that is Trollsbane.

Phillippe, I agree with Lord Nalzaxx.
The Hamlet of Greenbriar has always had 'sanctuary' status for anyone fleeing persecution and such, since it was founded, specifically because of TrollsBane's thirst for blood.
As a county, our very first law expressly says:
§1. Criminal Law
Crimes in Briar County will be determined by the laws of the city ‘closest’ to the scene of the crime. Extradition of Criminals outside of the county are solely at the discretion of the County Council, as are all external matters.
I honestly can't believe an 'official' is considering walking into another country to arrest its citizens. As an official of TrollsBane, you now carry the weight of responsibilty on your shoulders if you start a conflict or hamper relations because you cannot respect our laws. If you are to speak for Trolls Bane, You should guard both your words and actions. They may have consequences both for you and Trolls Bane. I believe you should speak to your new Governor before you speak for TrollsBane in public again, you are only aggravating the situation and losing.
Times change as need arises. Our citizens have come here for various reasons and our laws reflect their needs. They will not be handed over like cattle to the slaughter for alleged and unproved crimes in other towns. Enforce your own laws in your own town first, as we do.
Respectfully,
~Dusty Bottoms, Mayor of Greenbriar~
P.S. Dear Karl,
Phillippe and Arameh were not charged as they did stop and then leave as requested. You were the only one to return to aggravate our citizens. Gort and Richard were not charged for drawing weapons because they were following my cue to escort you off the Island. The specific law broken was:
Hamlet of Greenbriar:
§4. Fights, Intimidation and other misconducts
These behaviors are not tolerated and will be punished on the Isle of Briar. If two people witness this crime personally, the offending party may be asked to leave the Isle for the day. If they do not, the Town Council may apply further consequences as deemed necessary.
Repeated occurrences will receive harsher punishment as determined by the Town Council.
Nothing more needs to be said. I bear you no ill will personally, but a crime is a crime. Do the two weeks and we'll meet again in peace.
