Murdered by Mr. Rothman

Post by Siltaris »

The message is written in an irregular writing. The paper is partly covered by small red drops.

Dear people from Gobiath,

I want to inform you about the latest actions of Mr. Rothman, the self-proclaimed Governor. The man without honor. The man without braveness.

Some days ago, I was the Captain of the town under the leadership of Lady Aleytys Lamar. I just was Captain for some days, because then Mr. Rothman came back and claimed for power again, no matter that there already was another Governor in the town. He just acted like nothing happened. He did not consider what kind if changes happened. And he did not listen to the peoples wishes - the wishes for a free election for a Governor. Is that behaviour honorbale or brave? No!
During my very rare time given to me for going against crime and anarchy in town, I only was able to imprison one robber and murder, Rankor. I am sure, there is much more to do than this, but Mr. Rothman thinks different. Instead of supporting me and the guard in defending the town and instead of appreciate the imprisoning of Rankor done by me, he prefered to raise his sword against me to strike me down - is this honrable? Does the town need a man who kills the few persons who stand for peace in town? No!

Let me tell you how he acted before i felt the cold steel in my back and my soul moving out of my body feeling the warm embrace of Ushara.
I entered the town and was asked by a dwarf, who was new to this island to explain him some things about the town and the island. More than saying 'greetings' and confirm my support in showing him the town was not possible. Mr. Rothman interupted the talk by stepping close to me and asked me in a harsh way for the cell key. Do we need a man who does not seem to care for travelers visiting the island? I doubt.

He explained me that i have ownership (the key) of the Government. But firstly, the cell key he asked for was never given by anybody from the so-called government to me. Second, there actually is no government in trolls bane. As long, as there are no official elections for a new Governor, there is nobody who has no right to rule over the town. Does the town need a man, who does not consider the peoples' wishes? Never!

Furthermore, Mr. Rothman stands for peace in town, as he always states himself. So do I, as i have proven, most recently by imprisoning Rankor while Mr. Rothman did not care for the town and its citizens these times. Why does he not trust and cooperate with the few people who care for peace in town then? Does Trolls Bane need a man, who does not take nor accept the help of others to stand together against crime together? By the five, no!

Because of these two reasons, and because both (him and me) were standing at the same side and i expected that we would act together until the new election will be made (which would have been the most reasonable behaviour in this moment), I was not willing to hand him the key. I have the same aim as he tells he has himself - keep peace in town. He did not even listen to my arguements, which are the ones I told you here. Instead, he gave me an ultimatium, then he would take the key himself from me. He counted till 3 with raised weapon. I did not raise my weapon, but let it in my belt. I did not wanted to fight. I wanted to talk and care for the future of Trolls Bane together, till the elections are made. At three he attacked me, an unarmed woman, which did not wanted to fight him. Does the town need a man, who attacks a person, who does not want to fight? Does the town need a man, who attacks a person, which has the same aims as he has, namley standing for peace in town? The answer must be: No!

After his first three slashes i raised my sword and fought him, defending me. But instead of having a fair fight one on one, a man came and attacked me from the side at the same time. Mr. Rothman did not tell him to stop attacking me. Instead both fought me. Is this behaviour honorable? having a fight two on one, while me never wanted to fight? This behaviour shows that he has fear of making a fair duel. He fears to die, he fears the cold steel, he fears that someone could harm him. Does the town need a unfair coward as leader? By Malachin, no!

When i tried to step back, to stop this crazy event, they did not hesitate to hit into my back. I felt the steel going through my armor into my flesh. I fell on my knees, was able to turn while trying to defend, crouching away from them, trying to speak and tell them to stop. But instead of lowering their weapons, both jumped forward and slashed down on me. They raised their weapons and slashed them down into my chest, without hesitating - they killed a woman, who stood for the same aims, who did not wanted to fight them, who was forced to defend herself against two men, a woman who tried to stop the fight, but was cold-blooded murdered by Mr. Rothman and his villain.

When my soul left my body i felt the embrance of Ushara. I heard how she whispered to me. I felt her love. I felt that time has not come yet for me.
I woke up in a bed in the Seahorse, where Lady Meryadeles and Lady Aleytys Lamar and the medico Lady Igdrasil cared for my wounds. I thank them a lot for doing so. It is good to see and feel that there are warm-hearted people in town. That makes me keep on following the path - the path to a peaceful town. A town, where kindness, honor and braveness are values shared by its people.

It makes me feels really sad that Mr. Rothman has not even one of these goodnesses.

Now, as you see which kind of man, which kind of barbarian, brute and fiend Mr. Rothman is, I call all people from Gobiath to raise their weapon against him. He will lead Trolls Bane and Silverbrand and the whole island into never-ending darkness, if nobody will stop him.
He must be stopped.

I will give my life to do so - and I ask the whole island:

Is there anyone who follows into the fight against darkness, against Stephen Rothman?

Violence won't solve anything. It seems the atmosphere around here has become quite sickly, but lets have cool heads prevail, unless something worse happens.

You say first that you were the captain of the town under Aleytys. Then you say Rothman acted like nothing had happened. Then you go on to say that he did not listen to the peoples' wishes of a free election. This last statement has nothing to do with the situation. Its simply more slander, regardless of how true or untrue it is. I am against Rothman being in power. But I am also against Lamar's attempt to rise as well.

Many people have spoken out against Rothman. Few have actually tried to do anything about him, however. Why? Because everyone is too preoccupied with their own lives to care about everyone else's. Not that that is good, or bad. It just seems to be the way of things now, regardless of how much people preach about their loyalty to their hometown.

The few who have tried to conquest against this "darkness" have failed due to others incompetence. How can those in the name of righteousness fight against a tyrant when they are so few? I think Cain needs to stop his masked defense of the tyrant's reign

Do not speak of masks when you haven't the courage to even give your name. I am against both "rulers" involved in this. Make no mistake of that.

Dear Lady Siltaris,
As I told you then and I will tell you now. You have property of Trolls Bane. You are not a citizen of Trolls Bane. You are not Captain of it's guard. You do not have the power nor authority to own a key to the prison of Trolls Bane. You refused to give it to me and I took the proper steps so someone whom is not a member of the guard and has not gone through the training of a guard can access the prison.
I will do so again everytime you step foot in this Kingdom. Hand over the prison key you stole from me when you attacked with Galthran and his cohorts or face continued persecution and punishment.

Two times now you fall under my magic power, Rothman, and more times will follow. Until you realise that you are not any longer the ruler of this lands. That this land don't wishes you any longer. You have no friends left who fight for you, just your warriors who follow you because they seek the power. Leave Trollsbane, and leave it to a new vote. But don't dare again to set foot on it and claim to be the ruler of this "Kingdom" how you call it.

Your time is over, and soon you will face the gods and face your punishment for your doings.

Your barbaric slaughtering of a honorable and goodhearted woman who hasn't raised her weapon, and that because of a simple key, was the last unhonorable act you done.

And to you warriors I write, it is not too late for you. It is not too late to find back to Malachin, or whomever you whorship. It is not too late to fight for the good, and not Rothmans power greed. That man will fall, so or so, but you can be a part of a better society. One in which honor and chivalrity means something. In which friendship is the strongest force, and not a barbarics powergreed.
Stephen Rothman is the one the isle wants to see gone, not you, not his men. So find back your common sense, and leave the sinking ship.

May Zhambra guide your path.

A tall shadowy figure moves to the wall, reading many of the partchaments apon it. His ice blue eyes seem to show the slightest bit of emotion as he reads over the back and forth of the posters. With a feral growl he stalks away, only his faint mumble can be heard as he stalks off.

"This town is no longer worth my time."

Mr. Rothman,

your lies you spread become more apparent from day to day.
If you have a look at your own list of citizens, there is written down my name! But in your delusion, you seem to forget about reality. How do you want to lead a town, when you are not even able to remember and follow your own law?

Then you tell, that I did not gone through the training of a guard and thus am not allowed to own so-called property of Trolls Bane. Besides the fact that it is not your property, you disagree with your own acting and words spoken in past: In past, to my shame, I followed you and you were the one who gave me the key to the prison. That proves that I was and that I am allowed to have a key, when it comes down to the way to use such a responsibilty of imprisoning people.

Your writings are the proof for your irrationality, your lack of being able to realise the reality and truth, your lack of being able to remember your own actions done in past. It proves your obsessed desire for sheer power, no matter what the people you want to rule really need and want. Your acting also proved your short-sightedness: By killing me, you did not achieve anything - they key is still my property, because you did not even ask if i have it with me. Of course, I had not. I followed the rules of a guard and do not walk with the key through town - you told me to do so, when i was in the knighthood. You seem not to care for your own words. The only thing you have achieved by killing me, was my dead body laying on the ground, the street covered with blood, the weapons lying on the ground - and you have sealed your own death by doing so.

Stephen,

Siltaris is, i dare to say, one of the purest, most honorable beings i've ever had the honor to know, and back in the days you led the town, she did great services to all of us, especially during the struggle against the cult - unfortunately you seem to have forgotten about that. That points out that the ideals you claim to stand for hardly have any meaning for you.

By striking down Siltaris you've not only comitted another deed of shame, you've also caused harm on a very close friend of mine. Know that i'll be on her side, whatever it takes, since terms like friendship still have a meaning to me.

I fear there will never be true justice done upon you, Stephen, for that would require you do die ten times.
