Ellaron the merchant retires.

Post by Ellaron »

I have been thinking of retiring for a while now and one or two things that have happened recently has made up my mind. I know most of you don't know who I am but this is for the few that do. I have come to realise I am not the person I thought I was and this has.....upset me slightly. I will continue to be Ellaron the druid and will do some fishing and gardening to fill in my time. Thankyou for your custom.

Farewell, Ellaron.

Thankyou Roke. To be honest the main reason I'm retiring is I'm just too old. I have trouble lifting the merchandise let alone selling it, ha ha. But it's also because it's not the same anymore. People don't stop to chat, there are too many thieves and most people want to buy cheap not quality. (To any one else reading this, the last thing you want between you and an ogre is a cheap shield. Take my word for it, the price of a decent shield is less than the healing and care you'll need to put you back together again). The list of reasons for retiring is long and petty but the final straw was a dent in my pride. I had built an image of myself as a pillar of the community, respected by those who knew me for my honesty and fairness, certainly not my bravery. It turns out I'm not, at least not to those close enough to me to make a difference. It's not that I'm not respected, but that I'm not even well known. I know it's silly but it just came as such a shock. Walking round thinking I was.... well, somebody. When in actual fact I was just old man Ellaron who did something with plants. I know some of you reading this may be insulted but I dont mean to. Think of it as having a massive banquet. You invite all your friends only to find out, half way through, that out of the tens of people who show up only three know who you are, and one what you do. It's a bit of a come down. Anyway, listen to me moaning on. There are plenty of good merchants out there ready to fill what little gap I leave and I will be happy pottering round in my twilight years. Dont pity me but rejoice in that I'll be living a truer life. I'll still be in town from time to time so if anyone cares to share a beer with me you're welcome. Take care all and thankyou. Still talking like a shopkeeper.

quiting being a merchent becuase you cant lift your goods! i would be glad to carry them for you. also quiting becuase you relized that you arent a pillar wouldnt be the right thing. no one is a pillar of the comunity. the pillar is everyone. not jsut a few. your pride shouldnt be dented. fishing and gardening is a ncie peaceful way to spend a retirement though. i would take you up on haveing some beers, but i quite drinking. one of those twelve step programs. wel, happy retirement to ya.

To Drogla. Thankyou for your offer but I'm sure you are more than busy lifting your own merchandise. You are right in that everyone in the community is equally important. I lost sight of this and elevated my self above others. Pride comes before a fall will be my epitaph.
To Mishrack. I'm sorry old friend but all that can be said has been.
To Everyone. Thankyou for your messages of support. Please remember I'm retiring, not dead ha ha. I shall still be around from time to time.
