How do I talk as an elf?

I once saw two dwarfs talking and they said [dwa]****. I presume this is dwarven language? How can I talk elven? Put #elf before I say something or [elf] or what? I am really very new to this.

Also, another question. How do I buy something from an npc? I tried saying 'Hello' but they wont respond...

I have 2 more questions.

I have bought a scizzors (sp?) recently and now I'm at the place with the sheep. But how do I get the wool from the sheep? I know I get wool from killing a sheep but is there no way to get wool without killing?

I also recently bought a hatchet. I try to chop some trees but it keeps saying that it's not choppable. I tried with a few kinds of trees but no work. I have never before chopped a tree, so what kinds of trees can I chop?

if you use the scissors with the sheep you get wool, and you can chop nearly all kinds of tree. You just need to use the hatchet with the tree several times and eventually it will fall. Then chop the fallen tree and you get logs.

Fr both make sure the scissors/hatchet are in your hand. For chopping you also have to be looking at the tree, I am not to sure about getting wool but it would make sence to look at it to. This is just stuff harky didn't mention and common problems.

I succeeded getting wool, and I made grey cloth from it, finally! I also succeeded chopping a tree and getting logs, and with a saw I made boards from it. Thank you guys very much!

But what can I do with leather? I have a piece of leather, not raw leather, but real leather. I also have a needle and some thread, but it still says that I don't have enough materials. What do I need to make something from leather?

you need needle and scossors in hand, leather and thraed in belt, then use needle

Unless they changed it, you have to use the leather or the cloth you intend to work on...
