For those wondering about Germany and English times

Post by Jon Childs »

Well. Germany is GMT+2 (now 22:40) England is GMT+1 (now 21:40). When it says GMT in a thread for a meeting, if you live in Germany, its 2 hour after and 1 hour after for England.

ATM: New york is at 16:40, amybe someone could work the American times out?

Because of Daylight Savings Time worldwide until October.

Engalnd doesn't recognize it, but GMT does, hence the difference. Jon is quite right.

American Times:
Eastern Standard Time (New York, Atlanta) is now GMT -4 hours
Central Standard Time (Chicago, St. Louis) is GMT -5 hours
Mountain Time (Boise, Denver) is GMT -6 hours
Pacific Time (Seattle, Los Angeles) is GMT -7 hours

Frank Wayne, are you in the Eastern Time zone or Central? Also, find out if your State or Territory recognizes Daylight Savings Time.

I know that even though Arizona is in Mountain time, they do not legally recognize Daylight Savings Time, so they would be GMT -7hours. It depends on your country or State as well.

I live in St. Louis, obviously in the Central Time Zone, and I am correctly at GMT -5 hours.

From October to March, I will go to GMT -6hours as DST will be over.

oh ok I live in North carolina so that would make me GMT -4 because of daylight saving time. I just thought it was -5 because that is what the clock on my pc says when I set the time to update itself.

Suggestion:

Could we do this? Someone programs it so that the server time is shown on the webpage, and everyone uses THAT time as a standard time for Illarion meetings? Would save soooo much hassle... just compare two times together...

I think the server time won't be a large problem. But i really like to see a ig time clock and an ig time calculator ;)
