is there any way u could speed up the server. i was on the other day and there where
7 people. i was killed and i suffered extreme lag. overe all it took me 15 minutes to
reach the cross. als once i was there more lagg occured and i didn't have enough time to put my shiled on as an ogre attacked. over all i would just like to know why the server is kind
of slow. just wondering

Hallo

it isnt the server it is his connection to the internet (the connection form the server over the university)
i think i dont lie when i say the server can handle 100 peoples online
btw i remember when 30 peoples where online and i dont had lag

btw the tech board would be a better place for such post and if i do remember it correct the same question was already answered

The lags occured especialy the last month since we had new students here since october. Most of them have internet connection the first time and are "exploring" it a little now.

Asking for a way to speed up the server - there is a way:
We will rent a server with an own connection sooner or later. This will cost 350 DM (about 170 US$) per month. If you pay it, we could switch sooner than expected (i.e. if you pay it every month, not just one).

Considering the fact that once Bror and the others finnish school we will no longer have a server, we are going to have to pay for it eventually anyhow.

I would gladly donate 5$ a month to the server considering it us money it's not alot at all.

Perhaps the more reliable and responsible players (I speak only from my own opinion here) the players who have been here awhile.. could band together and donate a small bit of whatever they might be willing. 170$ a month US dollars isn't alot at all. considering how MANY play illarion especially as of late... not only would any overflow maybe help out Bror for all he's done to provide us with a great game.. it might also go into better features and quickening the process.

Bror if it is ok what i stated early please give confermation and email me the address of where I can send the donation once you decided.

Taking donations may be one solution, that we will concider. Other solutions might be ad banners (which will only give a small part of the money needed) or a amazoon partnership program. However this will not be needed before next spring.

Out of personal opinion I love the illarion site. I would hate to see it cluttered with banners and such.

I am not sure if I am right, but from what I can tell you would like this game stand alone without needing to have confines of a partnership ect..

We can do it

Hell if I get this job I want I might donate the 170$ myself

I lag sometimes for enough time that I am kicked off and I have a cable modem...

I am not sure that everyone is aware, that some actions have BUILT IN delays. So if you dig for ore 10 times in 5 seconds, it is very likely that you are not able to move for a few more seconds. If you do this for a longer time, you might also get a disconnect. This is no lag, it is a regulation against flooding the server, powergaming and macro using!
If you were able to move one step and the next takes a few seconds - that is a real lag.

I know that bror I am not mad at the server or anything I am just commenting that for example sometimes when I am walking it will stay in place and then after a while suddenly im somewhere else.

True, i agree that it will be able to handle many people. Sometimes when 30 people are on the game is swift and fast. Sometimes when 2 people are on there is huge lag... So i dont believe it is the server...
