Nein danke :?

I guess, that Samantha's criticism was partly adressed to me, and although my char is known to be quite quarrelsome, i admit that i sometimes put it over the top a lil' bit. I'll try to tone it down in the future.

And still, i make mistakes - when Gryphi got sick of the stew, he recovered faaar too quickly, even facing a dragon afterwards. That RP sucked bigtime, i know that - but sometimes, curiousity grows stronger than reason. Whenever you face a highly unusual situation ingame that needs a swift reaction, you can't always expect to get RP, that 100% fits the char: Spontaneaus reactions are the most difficult ones to play, and that's where mistakes are most likely to happen.

But alltogether, i rarely have any complaints about the performance of the chars i usually interact with - in 99,99% of all cases, they react appropiately to their environment, to their race, to their char, and whatever (Although my view is quite limited).

Although there will always be a lot of room for improvement, i think most of us play at a decent level that should be credited as well, not only criticised.

My 2 Cents

I also think pasifism is far to widely accepted and agreed upon in a game when killing for land was a common theme during the time.

Read the game background then. Illarion is NOT medieval ages, but an own world.
Albar has no feminism at all, and is much like medieval times.
Salkamar has more like ancient greek or roman touches (plus equal rights).
And so on.

I have to agree with Damien here. There are so many Gods/Goddess and many ways they can be interpreted. It all just depends on how many players follow which ethos.

my two cents:

what really annoys me, (other stuff is bad two but this one is just so simple) is the stupid shop. I vote that that shop wall should be destroyed, for it is an evil thing. people will sit in front of the shop night and day, be it rain or snow, they have to sit there, well not sit but lean.

Shop is the center of attraction, that is where characters meet, that is where characters go next to the depot while 80% of them dont even move anything in it. That is where you can go lean on the wall, and when you see someone to RP with, well you dont cause youre afk but anyway. Sometimes it can be a good thing, I vote no!

That is what I wanted to express with my question. Because Illa is not just a "normal" european dark ages setting, there is no reason to complain about pasifism and feminism.

PS: Is there a short overview about the world of Illarion. The most texts I found are real long.

Not really, but it would be a good project to realize, if you ask me.

I translated the background history shtick for the english version of moonsilver.de, and it's creepily long. Nice, if you like reading, but inefficient for new players who need a rough overview and sketch of how the cookie crumbles in the world of Illarion.

A short text should wrap up most important subjects into a nice neat little package, containing links that lead to more detailed background information concluded on moonsilver. Given on the official site, i.e. www.illarion.org .

Would also end alot of the discussions and arguments about basic world background info, I believe.

Just a suggestion.

Edit: And Damien, you're aware that it says "a medieval fantasy world" on the front page of illarion.org, right? Sure, that coincides with what you said, but I understand how the word "medieval" in there can get some people confused and give them too much associations that don't belong into the scenario.

Well, I only read the first post since I don't realy have a huge amount of time right now. So here's what I have to say:

"The children-being was only an excuse for causing mischief and being immature. But on the other hand they were fighting and killing monsters, just like any other char."
Guilty, thinking about it Kevin was way to strong for his age back then. But he acted like it, he never realy acted much like a child. Indeed it wasn't the best 'story', and the way I saw it some players decided to ignore me for that. And maybe he still acts to mature for his age, but to me it seems that some simply think like this "He plays a child, he plays him maturely, he's a bad roleplayer." Indeed I made mistakes playing him, everyone makes mistakes, everyone was a noob once.

But what mostly disturbes me is that some don't seem to react to anything around them. As an example: A while ago, Kevin kinda got into a fight with Taylor where Taylor swung his axe at Kevin and some people there just continued doing what they where doing, completely ignoring everything. Some just want to rp their thing and their thing alone.
That isn't realy roleplaying if you ask me.

And about the elf and dwarf thingie I think the problem is simply that most people play a nice character and racial things don't realy apply to many. It's simply the way they say things should be in our world and our time.
That and it's likely that some don't realy read the racial info.

Some people play their chars like their 'perfect' by the current standards of our world.

Also there is one more thing that annoys me.
Some people have a char description like.

Someone is a strong man and is quite handsome.
Or
Someone is a slender elfess with beautifull hair and beautifull eyes.

Stuff like that, I'm sure everyone has seen it sometimes.

Define handsome, define beautifull.
Everyone has their own taste.
If we didn't everyone would wear the same clothes, drink the same drinks ,listen to the same music and have the same sexual orientation.

As a friend of mine once said:
Only in the eyes of a 14 year old can every female be beautifull.

Edit:
And I realy have to agree with everything he stated if I'm honest.

Pretty much all of us are guilty of atleast one of those things he stated.

But when noone acts they way they should, how can you realy change that unless you can clearly get everyone to change their ways right here and right now. It's an impossible task to do if everyone has grown accustomed to it.

There are realy only verry few characters who realy have a grudge against a whole race/sex/organisation. Since many simply form their chars in the model that 'good' people in rl should be. But things will never be like that, not in any world. Some simply play their chars to be 'perfect'.
subconsciously maybe.

Its a simple fact that there will always be problems like these, since humanity isn't perfect. Nothing we do will ever be perfect. So we can never play our characters completely perfect either. Playing asif your character is perfect is not playing perfectly, it's simply playing badly.
And by playing characters perfectly. Everyone has their demons, so everyone's characters should to.

And the death thing, I realy don't like the way its done.

Death has become a mockery.

The way I remember it even with a mechanic death like being killed by an npc was played as being 'suverely injured' or something. But nowadays alot of people just get their char killed, and just go on roleplaying like nothing happened. And If someone dies, and acts suverely injured a pretty large part simply ignores you. (Like that guy who died infront of the shop.)

Characters just dosent care, that too is a problem. Its like, "oh someone is losing his soul, lets get some pop corn and watch", or "There are lightnings coming from the sky, great ambiance" or "hah a dragon! lets ride it!" or " someone is dying right next to you Roger! move aside so you dont have blood on your cloches! " etc etc

And all of theses things happened really, but death is still the biggest problem to me, it could change most of theses things I gave as example.

I think cybering in illarion has gotten very out of hand. Contrary to popular belief Stephen does not have mad sex everytime he walks in town. There was not birth control around keep in mind. So everytime your character has sex, keep in mind they should be worried and realize they can get pregnant at any moment. But well, why have that part of reality involved in illarion?

Actually, that's an interesting question. The community, by default, has always remained ignorant to things they don't want to deal with. And likely, this is how it will remain.

There was not birth control around keep in mind.
This is going on the basis that the realm of Illarion is based in a medieval time frame. It isn't, as I recall. It is a self-sustained world. Whether or not there is birth control is entirely up to the way the players choose to go about it (since it is not specified by staff).

Hehe, reading the text about demons in illarion i was fearing, that diying while fighting a demon would be a permakill. I was REALLY shocked, when the first demon, i saw, was so strong, and that by beeing attaked from 4 warriors. ((my thoughts: "Holy shit, i have played 3 month with Thariel, now i can... oh, i am only clouded ;-) ))

No. Way.

If they add perma death i'm just not going to play. It's not worth all the complaining it'll bring and stress.
