New Governor for Trolls Bane
Stephen having a contract with the cult and the town, starting a war between Silver Brand and us! What more? Before our town turns to a waste land I think we better get a new governor.
Plus, How long could a person possibly be a governor he has to retire our give a chance to someonelse.
What does everyone else think?

The problem is, who will stand up for this position to take? If there are no candidates, there can be no election either.
The second problem is, that those who want to have him down, are no citizen of Trolls Bane.
So Trolls Bane lacks candidates and also people who would/and are allowed to vote.
And the election would just turn out, like it did the last time.
((http://illarion.org/community/forums/vi ... c&start=30))
So either Stephen Rothman steps down voluntary or the dwellers of Trolls Bane will just have to live with what is happening. Or he gets forced to step down through violence - which I don't agree with.

Re: New Governor for Trolls Bane
I think you listen to rumors and nonsense too much.
How many times does it have to be said that there *is* no 'contract' between the Governor and the temple? An agreement, perhaps, an understanding, to try and protect the citizens of this town, but no contract, no binding of the town and the Temple.
And if you paid attention, it is Silverbrand that declared war, not the Governor. He gave them every chance and fairness that could possibly be expected. Change happens; you have to accept that and roll with it. The dwarves are unable to accept any change, especially if it is not entirely in their favor. They wish to try and force that unchanging quality on everyone else.
And he has not been Governor for some unreasonably long amount of time. Retirement comes when one is aged and losing one's ability to do one's job. Governor Rothman is still resonably young, fit, and perfectly capable. And even that aside, who would you propose to replace him? There is no one else in Troll's Bane as qualified and dedicated to the town as he is, nor who has as much time to give.
I am not a citizen of this town, and so my words may not hold much sway, but I hope that more reasonable heads will prevail and end such nonsense.

I would stand up for voting. I love Trolls Bane and I would not fear dying for the good of it. Maybe these were rumours or maybe they are not. I would love to be a governor but who would vote for a smelly lizard? Maybe Stephen is good but we have to give other people chances. If I were a governor. Trolls Bane would be the best place to live in I would make sure it is. I have thousands of ideas, small Guard houses atleast, 4 in town for the four gates. A more protective jail, with a wall around it so you just push the criminal in and lock the wall and you dont have criminals escaping much more.. but again no one would vote for my race so...

The Governor gives even the guards the right to be members of the cult. Stephen Rothman should be stopped! And, from what I heared, the person who wanted the war was and still is only Stephen. King Ghorn never said, that he would like to start a war. Only Stephen is talking the whole time about a war between Silverbrand and Trolls Bane. And he took away the tavern from the dwarves, wich doesn't belong to Trolls Bane, but to Silverbrand. That was for no reason. I will do everything I can, to stop Stephen on his ways of destruction.

Stephen definitly allows the guards to join the black stone cult. That is enough for me, to see him as evil, or bad.
A little fairy flies to the massage and posts some new words on it in the same script:
I know, that Stephen allows them, because I met a guard who is a member of the cult. Unfortunatly I have lost his name, but Arameh told me that he is a guard and he also told me, that he is a member of the cult and that the guard is allowed to join the cult.

Unfortunately, unsigned writer, the truth is miserably subjective. We have all spoken the truth as we see it.
My opinion of the truth is that matters have been blown way out of proportion and turned a disappointingly large portion of the citizenry of your town against the best thing they have going for them.

I will not ruin this parchment that may infact be good for the city of Trolls Bane, so I will write this and only this. I have never done anything that would hurt Trolls Bane or put it at a disadvantage with the other cities.
The Treaty between Trolls bane and Silverbrand was very heavily in Silverbrand's favor giving their citizens a major advantage over our citizens and it is and will remain my duty as Governor to ensure that that advantage is taken away. I, and any other Governor, strive to ensure that my city and it's citizens are given the best chance at being successful and rich land owning people. If you find fault in that so be it.
But rest assured, as the dwarves have declared a war upon myself and not the city, I will accept it and will stand alone against them if my city truely does not wish for me to remain Governor.
In your service since the day you elected me,
Stephen Rothman
Governor of Trolls Bane

Yes, his city, for he governs it. Do you yourself not refer to your home-city as your city? Do not waste your words on this parchment whomever you are, unless you fully grasp the words of what others have written. I, for one, whole-heartedly support sir Rothman, even though I am not a citizen of "the" city.
Perhaps the Five can grant you all some more insight on the matter,

Brother Markous
Very well, I guess it was foolish to blame Stephen. Let us just say I was angry that he refused to make me a guard. But now after thinking over it.. he did it for my good I guess I am not that powerful.. He did not want me killed. I am sorry Stephen. I thought about supporting dwarves but I have thought over and decided I want to fight for Trolls Bane. Stephen but I only ask permission to attack in this war. May I? If needed I will not hesitate to give my life. Are you sure you cannot talk this over with the King of Silver Brand? I am not afraid of the war but still losing lives will not be worth it if you can just talk it over.
Sorry again.

Governor Rothman, know that I'll stand by yeh, 'til the bitter end, if needs be. I joined the guard t' do me part in protectin' the city o' Trolls Bane, AND it's elected government. I'll do anythin' an' everythin' I can t' make sure there's no revolt, an' t' make sure the war with the dwarves doesn' get too out o' hand.

Take it from this previous Guard William,
The Guard is to protect the Citizenry and the walls of town. Not it's elected leader. We hold loyalties to the captain and not the government. Your brothers stand beside you, but the wars you take outside of town is your own, and do not expect your brothers to be forced to follow you. Stephen has waged a war outside of the borders of trollsbane. The guards no longer have any part in this, The Knights now take the stand
The Guard will stay in town, otherwise you will force me to, for this reason. Say Stephen and his forces do fail, The dwarves will certainly turn onto and attack the town to overtake it. Killing citizens thinking they were fighters, ect. I will protect the citizens as a free sword. It's something i promised someone to do.
I care for the Citizens of this town. Not it's walls, it's government, but for the greater good of the people. Walls can be rebuilt, Government can be rebuilt. People, Can not be reborn. Remember this.
What it cost to regain peace during the last war hit me certainly harder than others. The woman i considered to be my mother died to save everyone. I will protect the citizens with all the strength i possess. If the Guard wishes to stand by me, The Elected Captain of Revlen's Guards, Or Stephen, The Governer. Make it clear now. So that i can see how many people i must bring to help me.
I hope I have made things clear here. I am not on Stephens side. I will protect the citizens of a town following a leader who has been pressed by too many sides. This, is how I will protect.

Re: New Governor for Trolls Bane
A cloaked person attaches a note to the townwall.
Beware, that total anarchy is still better than a leader, that leads you to your utter ruin!
The cloaked person leaves undetected, not signing the note.
The talk about his agreement with the temple of bjolmur is neither a rumor, nor nonsense - it is a matter of fact. As well, that there's been a money flow between him and the temple. There's a document that proves that - I will reveal it piece by piece, when the proper moment has come.NirAntae wrote:I think you listen to rumors and nonsense too much.
