New Learning System

Post by Nilo »

I could be wrong, but since Cassandra implemented the new learning system, I have not seen the blue 'swirly' graphics above your head to show that you've learned something.

Are they supposed to be gone?

Also, i shot 250 arrows today, and i learned nothing at all... should this be?

THanks,
Nilo

The blue swirl is solely a client matter and has not been changed.
If it does not show, you haven't gained an skill points.

Ok,
you gain in your minor skill,
Say it is 1-10.

You skill up in the minor skill of Carpentry we'll say.
Once it hits 10, the color bar, or major skill rises in Carpentry.

PS: Cassaundra said think of it as the system in Elder Scrolls.

Then it hasn't reached the maximum for the minor skill to raise the major skill.

I don't know why, but ever since Cassandra implemented the new skill advancement system about aweek ago, my character (Dusty Bottoms) hasn't advanced in a single skill (no swirly blue thing)

I have been mining, lumberjacking, carpentry, tailoring and even Herb Hunting and Lute playing all week, and nothing! I've tried making complex items as well as simple ones. Nothing. Usually I advance at least one level a day, I do so much. But nothing all week, and I have been busier than normal due to increasing business. I am starting to get worrried, and a little cheated for all the work I've already done.

Has anyone else had this problem? Could a GM or Dev, check this out for me? Thank you.

I played my Harp for a little while practicing on a few occasions without anything. Since I am new I just figured it takes ALOT to improve at all. Although, with all the playing I figured it would go up at least a little bit.

Odd, I get some sand every now and then, and haven't seen any change in skill gain really. It seems a bit less drastic now, though, but I have been seeing it.

Atleast three graphics for about 300 sand or so. This was over a few days, so comparing one day to the next, it didn't seem any different.

Ok. I got one of those blue things now while playing the harp. It actually scared me for a second.

My character, Jalen Noel, has been doing plenty of mining, smithing, fighting (concussion weapons/parry), and tailoring this week. I haven't seen one skill-gain in ANY of these areas.

i know the problem i think there is a hidden bug, currently i implement a information system where you can show directly your current "skill state" how hard you failed in gaining skill.... etc.... maybe i can find the bug with this informations.

I couldn't agree more, Jon.

But while we're on the topic, what exactly is the deal with the "Minor/Major Skill" system? When you saw a minor skill, are you talking about Smelting being a sub-skill of Smithing? Or are you talking about Smithing being a sub-skill of the Strenght attribute? I'm a little confused.

No no no...Smelting is the skill..And you have minor skill ups, and major skill ups. Major skill ups are the blue swirlies. Minor skill ups are just skill ups that you get with each smetling action you do. If you gather up enough minor skill ups, you get a blue swirly. This was done to take out the randomness of skill upping. :P

I do because I prefer to use resources to gain skill and not gain minor monetary value.
