Cooking

Post by AlexRose »

1. You should be able to cook good or bad meals or if your skill is awful your food should sometimes burn.
2. There should be more vegetables and other foodstuffs.
3. There should be tools, e.g. potato masher.
4. You should be able to shift click a plate and all the foodstuffs you are using and it prepares a meal and you can have good or abd preparation skills.

1. Failing is implemented afaik. What do you mean by "burning"? Good and bad meals are possible by using the quality, would require some script changes and database changes but it is possible. If somebody has time for this. I must admit I fail to see the benefit of this for the game.

2. What kinds of?

3. What other tools? How to use them?

4. Sounds clumsy. Why not just shift click the plate, spoon, whatever and choose the dish from a menu? There is a cooking skill (called baking... erm... bad state, I know), what do you mean by preparation skills?

1. I meant that you can cook well, badly etc. so you can burn the food and it won't give as much energy, but you can make it well and it will give more energy.
2. Potatoes, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes... whatever floats your boat. Think of a roast dinner. Also I was thinking other types of food like pasta.
You could make sauce out of tomatoes and you can make spaghetti etc. and make proper meals. That way restaurants could be formed.

3. Mashers which can be used to make mashed potatoes or tomato sauce etc. Those things they use to make flour into pasta. Knives to chop up meat into strips or to chop up potatoes to make wedges or chips. These types of things.

4. Yeah that'd work too. Like the smithing kit you could click on your tools then a menu would come up with what you can cook. You'd get better as you do more and can prepare harder dishes. By preparation skill I meant that you could present the dishes in a bad, good etc. way. Then the finished meal could be dependant on how good the food is and how well it is prepared. e.g. Very tasty, well presented steak dinner or maybe Revolting, badly presented pea soup.

these two already exist. Problem is AlexRose, nobody is skilled enough, because of the problems plagueing cooking. These were solved at one point, but nitrams work was for some reason reversed. It still persists unfortunately. I think you do not have enough IG experience, or you would know theres not much if any market for food except pies.

I can hardly see spaghetti fitting into the game style

One request, though : Please implement the cooking and edibility of rabbit, deer, and lamb meat :) It would add a bit of variety and one of my characters is sick of ham ;)

Haha. My Ullyatth Leader account has been exterminated. This is PO William Elderberry and yes I think a year's experiance is enough. I just aren't much of a cook, but I want to start a restaurant at some point.

Persoanlly.. i really like the idea, i've been suggesting a better role for cooks for AGES...

And YES there is a bug or something...100+ bread without learning anythign new falls under a bug :)

However a new eatign system needs to be made IMHO, so you actually have to take time to eat, yet be able to talk... which would give banquets ect, and prevent:

*person is dying* *shiftclickshiftclickshiftclick*, *wait till heal**goes back down, kills mummies**back up again* ah you get the idea

Great idea. I agree. I just really think cooks should have a bigger role. And food is only a small industry because there is no variety. It's better with more food because then your char can have more likes and dislikes and there really needs to be a player run restaurant where people could have meals with colleagues or candlelit meals or go on their own when they've just got a bit of money.

And the restauraunts could be part of the luxury point system they are planning to put into play, giving characters more motivation to go which would inturn increase motivation to build them.

Just a thought.

See, another good idea. We need restaurants! I'd be there all the time! There could be a romanticising section, a group section, a "Lets get drunk on expensive alcohol" section, a "I've just lost my girlfriend and my whole life's falling apart so I'll just sit, eat and wallow in self pity" section, a "Hey I just made tons of money, hey everyone, let's blow it all at the restaurant" section etc.

I have GOT to get a restaurant. Only a matter of time...

Recruit Culandria: you said you were taking me somewhere love
Farel: I did..
Farel: The tavern
Recruit Culandria seems unimpressed.
Farel: A little bird told me once, that the tavern is not romantic
William Elderberry: yes
William Elderberry stands behind her and winks.
Recruit Culandria gasps.
Fooser: Culandria, you should dump that slouch Farel
Farel nods to Culundria.
William Elderberry grins.
Recruit Culandria: Agreed Fooser

Conclusion>>>The tavern is not romantic.

It can be romantic, just doesn't have to be.
Besides, the problem would still be the same in a restaurant.
