Cyndil sits in her small rented room, the only light coming from the fire in the hearth. She sits alone, like every night, writing a letter. Just like every night, she will send the letter by dove, not knowing if it reaches it's destination:

Dearest Azuros,
i have something to tell you, i have been attacked by the same orc from the shop. In regards to this i have taken up learning how to fight to protect myself. Can you imagine, me, fighting? It surprises even myself. Baurus has been kind enough to teach me some moves, and my skill increases, slowly, but it does. I also have recently decided to learn to sew. That doesn't go so well, i'm afraid. The sheep are harder to shear alone. I suppose i just need practice, but it is hard to continue when i can only make rags. I think i will try cooking next. Pray i don't burn the city down.
I have also heard of your return, is this true? I will wait for you by the docks, as long as it takes to see you come back to me. I wanted to come look for you, Baurus wouldn't let me. I even hit him!

Cyndil takes the letter and folding it small, ties it to the dove's leg. She kisses the bird and whispers "fly well little friend, fly well" she releases the dove out of the window, crying.

As Norson walks by the inn, comeing from a halkfing that buyss his few products, with his coin purse slightly heavier, he is surprised by the bird comeing from no where. He jumps out of the way with an oath as he hits the ground. He gets up and starts walking back to the shop to drop off some suplies, not realy thinking of the bird except why it had to happen at that moment...

as he reaches the depot he wonders where his freind is then shrugs it off

I set out again to look for you, and again i failed.It seems there are forces that would keep me here. Baurus has informed me of dangers i could come across, on my quest to find you. I had acquired an escort, but i am afraid it won't work out. I will explain later. I am unhappy to admit I am resigned to waiting for you here, for now. I do not like being able to do nothing for some one i love who could be in danger, it reminds me too much of my family. Cyndil ties this letter, just like the others,to the birds leg. But tonight, no kissing ceremony, no tearful send-off, and no tender message. Tonight she just gently tosses the bird at the sky.

tonight Norson sits in the tavern, singing a slightly morenful slightly rejoycful song, smoking at his rarly used pipe, thinking over the not so well events of the day.
"maybe another time" he says to himself then takes a long puff as his mind starts to go blank with wieryness

Baurus sits against the tree by the shop, he watches the dove fly through the air then smiles slightly. he keeps a keen eye down the road for Norson. he Apperently wants to talk.

Azuros, my love,
I spent much time today with the sheep. They really are hard to catch! I am still sewing, or trying to. I can still only make rags resembling clothes. A funny thing happened today, my sewing is so bad. I gave a coat to an orcess and she couldn't even force somebody to take it! What an ego boost, right? I might get the hang of it yet, at least i have better, these doves aren't cheap.
On a different note...there is a lizard about, who is a self proclaimed bandit. It doesn't matter to me much, it just reminded me of yet another attack. back awhile, the elf bandit guy, i don't know. He attacked me in the shop, and then tried to make me go with him. Do you remember? Why do i always seem to draw trouble? I don't harm anybody, hell. I can't even harm the people who help me training, the five know i try. Hopefully i will get the hang of that as well. Until then i try to keep my back to the wall.

Cyndil swings her legs off the edge of the bed and sits up.She takes a dove out of the little cage.Cyndil gently kisses it and ties the letter to its leg. she sets the bird on the window sill and lies back down, letting her tears carry her to sleep.

Cyndil looks at the water and sighs. She crumples the parchment and throws it into the river. She watches it float downstream until she couldn't see it anymore, then lies back flat on her back, listening to the water.

Alli walks along the river, and gazes curiously at the parchment that flows with the current, but continues to walk, stoping as she sees another elfess laying near the waters edge.

Cyndil sighs and sits up. She turns to her bag and pulls out another roll of parchment.

Dearest Azuros,
My plans to look for you are yet again interrupted, Baurus is leaving and Alli had some incredible news. Needless to say, i am going to stay here with Alli. She has graciously agreed to help me learn to cook. We have already started, but the first try was a disaster. We made it as far as locating a hatchet, and listing things we like to eat. Again, i ask you, pray we don't burn the town down.
Baurus is still instructing me on self defense. He says i'm getting better, but I don't know. Although it will have to be put on hold, because he is leaving, and because me and Alli were shot today. It's not that bad, just in the arm, but it had to be the good arm so..but to change the subject a little, I broke Baurus sword during training! He was really surprised, not as much as me though. I feel lucky to have met him, and every day he becomes closer to being my brother. I will miss him almost as much as you. I will pray that you both come back. forever yours, Cyndill

Cyndil reaches into her bag for the small cage. When she straightens, she sees Alli. Smiling she waves Alli over. While alli is walking, Cyndil takes a dove out of the cage, and ties the parchment to it's leg. She stands to greet her friend, still holding the bird.

As the elves come closer, they hear gutteral noise and splashing coming from the river. Cyndil screams and grabs alli's arm, racing for the town gate. She doesn't look back as they run, just tries to get alli out of the way. Alli fights to be let go the whole way screaming for Cyndil to stop. Only after she pushes Alli through the gate and closes it behind her, Does Cyndil aknowledge Alli's frustration. Knowing she didn't have to explain her actions, Cyndil just shrugs at Alli, smiles and walks into town.
"It's probably gone now" Cyndil casually says over her shoulder.

Alli looks worriedly to her friend. "May I ask what is probably gone?" Alli looks curiously to her, waiting patiently for an answer.

Rannek walks towards the next village,in hope to get out of this acursed forest.His sword softly hits his armor as he walks.He hears a river running and decides to wash off the dirt from his armor.Rannek was near the water's edge as two devilish creatures jump out of the water.They charged at him as he whips out his sword and slashed at them,they moved to dodge it but was too slow.Their heads roll to the floor as their bodies hit the ground.He turn around to find another one of those creatures but wat bigger,bigger than him.The creature's head rises over the trees and brings up his arm and punches at the ground.

Rannek jumps out of the way and slices through it's hand.Blood splattered on his armour,as he climbs up the creatures arm,using his claw gaunlets to bring him up.He was at the shoulder when he jumps up and slices through the creatures arm.Rannek twists around and stabs at the creatures body,his weight making the sword slide through the creature.Rannek finally moves to the water and slides into it,washing his armor,getting rid of the blood.He sees the village and walks towards it.

As Rannek nears the village,he finds the entrance to the village has a gate which was closed.He was two feet away when he sees two elfess on the other side."Excuse me miss,could you be so kind in opening the gate please."he asks the one that is turned towards his way."I understand if you don't since you don't know if I mean harm to your village.Most people would think that since all they see are my eyes,and the armour."Rannek reaches to take off his helmet and placed it in the pack he carries.His white eyes shone like two full moons in the darkest of the night."There now I can see better."

Cyndil turns to see who spoke,her breath catching as she sees his eyes.Quickly she jumps in front of Alli..

"Who are you? and what do you want?Was that you that came crashing through the water?How do we know you don't mean us harm?"

Cyndil waits for an answer, with her hands on her hips. She gives the stranger an appraising look.

"This gate won't open until you answer, for i will not take chances with my friend's life, nor my own."

"Take it easy,my name is Rannek.All I want is to come into the village.It was my home village before I left to help around the world.Killing criminals or just helping in wars.Yes it was,sorry if I scared you,I needed to wash my armour.You know I don't mean harm to you and your friend because if I did,I wouldn't be standing here right now talking to you.I would have destroyed the gate and would have killed you both,not wait here patiently answering your questions."Rannek sighed as she gave him an appraising look.

cyndil blushes brightly andlooks to Alli for help.

"I am terribly sorry, you gave us..or me rather, quite a fright. I suppose you are right, you may come in."

Cyndil opens the gate and allows him to pass, stepping to remain between him and Alli, though her attitude is much less severe.

"my name is Cyndil, this is my friend Alli. So why were you crashing through the water like a crazed bull? Was something chasing you? ooh,or were you chasing something? Where did you come from anyway? You weren't there a minute ago"

Alli smiles to her friends questions. She doesn't seemed at all surprised at the man, but still seems slightly uncomfortable. She walks around Cyndil, so she can clearly see Rannek. She calmly waits for the mans replies.

"You sure do have a lot of questions.Well I was attacked by some creature,it was huge,bigger then the trees.It had whipped me acroos the river,I tried to get to solid ground fast,and with my armor on I couldn't move that much,so thats where the splashes came in.I killed the creature so you don't have to worry about being bothered by it."He paused a little to catch his breath and then coninued."I went back to the river to clean my armour off.I was born in this village,I didn't come back to it in over..umm"Rannek took another pause trying to remember how many years have past by."I mean about 20 years have gone by since I had left.Wait,so then what were you doing out there by the river?"he asked looking at her.

Cyndil looks to Alli for help again, aware she has said too much already. Thinking fast, she turns back to the man.

"she promised her husband to be, that she wouldn't fight while he was away."

Cyndil blushes again, unable to stop talking

Later that night Cyndil sits ,yet again, alone in her room.

Dearest Azuros,
So much has happened since you've been gone. I hardly know where to begin. Baurus has gone, he left for his mother's funeral, I imagine. Alli is a little scared, but who can blame her. I don't know what I would do if I was in her situation. I think she is very brave. She wants to buy a home for her and Baurus, so I help her. I'd rather not say how, it's not something I enjoy or am proud of doing, but anything for Alli.
I tried baking bread earlier today. Started by gettingwater for the dough, after I dropped the bucket down the well, a friend gave me another and I was able to mix up a nice batch of dough. so I put it in the fire to bake it, and well, it sort of expanded everywhere and even put out the fire! No worries, Dusty explained the proper way to bake it, and I will try again tomorrow.
I also have come across some green dye and if I can find the white cloth, I will try that. I figure if I keep trying different things, eventually I'll find one I'm good at. I still sew,and it gets better, but very slowly. Don't tell anybody, but i had so many grey coats, I had to throw them in the river, and behind bushes, and under carts. I tried selling them, and got laughed at. So I tried giving them away, still got laughed at, so I had to do something, they were coming out of my ears. Baurus and a few other friends took one and they wear them, but I think just so they don't hurt my feelings.
I feel like your return is soon. I get butterflies every time Iwalk into town. Like the next time I do you will be there.you are making me crazy, you know. I forget people's names, I forget my things, I have gone through 20 needles! I'm always off somewhere with you in my head. Worry has clouded my brain, and every day you don't return, brings me closer to believing you won't come back. Todayalso brought the horrible realization that the feeling of your kiss has faded, all that remains is a ghost of a memory that I long to relive. Just to have your arms around me again, I think will be all I need to draw me back down out of the clouds. Please be safe... your forever love, Cyndil

Rannek sat underneath a tree ou8tside of the village,just thinking what to do next.He then saw a white dove fly across the night sky,it then turned back around and landed on the hilt of his sword.He looked at it and saw a peice of parchment.A letter,he thought to himself"You know little guy,you have to get to your destination,or the letter will never reach the person in question."he whispered and extended his finger towards the bird.It had luttered down onto his finger,he then lightly through it into the sky.

He sat there thinking how good it must feel to not have a care in the world,to have a normal life then killing beasts outside of villages.Tomorrow,I'll put away my armor and sword and live a relaxing life.

I don't know how to tell you this, but seeing as how you should be returning anyday now... i don't look the same. Somebody, or something has transformed my body into that of a dwarf. Iam still the same person, although I have strange dreams, and my temper is a little shorter than usual. Alright, everything about me is shorter than usual. I have no idea what to do. I was not the only one ..affected, but as others are changing back, I still remain dwarfish. I am going to tryto see if I can't find the person responsible, hopefully he/ or she will have the heart to restore me to my original self. Until then, can you ever find it in your heart to love a dwarf? I understand if you don't feel the same, it's hard to look at me and remember the elf I should be, the elf I still am inside.

Azuros,
I have heard a way to change me back, only, it makes me uncomfortable. Supposedly I am to pray to the god I follow and at a temple. Problem is the gods from my home are different than here. I was just starting to get used to the idea of following and believing in a different way, but now to be forced into it? I mean, won't these gods know i pray to them half heartedly, just so i can gain something? It doesn't seem right. I pray to the gods I knew before, hoping they still exist,considering my home does not. And now I pray to the Five, hoping they will accept my love and loyalty, and have pity on me. For my soul is lost between two religions and two races.

Having just left the tavern at Trollsbane, Cyndil lies in the grass, on her stomach, looking at the parchment through one squinted eye. The effects of a nice bottle of elven wine causing her some trouble writing.

dearst Azuros, i'mstilladwarf..whatever..figured isi was going to be one, might as well act like, right? tried mining...was awful..went to sold some coal to Mugush, and he never paidme!!acted like i wasn't even there...whatever.staying on TolVanima tonight, no need to explain,

as Norson walk from the pig pin wraping his hands in cloth to help the bleeding of raw hands, he looks to Cyndil with a slight question but walks on looking forward after wards.
