~ Back to the monastery ~

Post by Mairead »

Two days have passed by and Mairead was sick already from being on the board of the ship all the time. As much as she enjoyed looking at the bright sea, but after some hours of staring, even she got slightly bored. Unlike her first travel she tried herself in some socialising. She talked to the captain of the ship and listened to some stories about pirates and adventures. The old seabear was obviously happy to find someone who he can share them with and Mairead hadn't anything better to do anyway.
And in return, Mairead told the captain wonderous stories about Gobiath. About love and fate, about joy and sadness.

The end of the days, Mairead always spent at the railing to watch how the sun setted behind the ocean and coloured the sky in a deep orange, then purple and red.
But this time Maireads attention was captured by the dark, nearly black clouds covering the horizon and that came closer and closer. It was a frightening view and not only for Mairead. The young woman was able to feel the tension and nervousity of the others, when they looked at the arising storm...

Standing at the end of the small pier in Gobaiths harbour Darius looks out to the rolling waves, a look of anguish covering his usual stoic visage.

Two weeks..
Was he to late..

Turning upon his heel the man makes his way to the Monastary.

Contemplating on lateness makes up no time..

Mairead held herself tightly on the railing.
The waves crushed against the ship and Mairead desperately clinged on the wooden railing. She heard someone yelling against the wind, telling the passenger to go below the deck; but she was not able to do any step. She was too scared, that if she releases the railing, she would go over board.
„Oh Tanora“, she said to herself as the ship swayed heavily up and down while another thunder broke the noises of the hard rain.
The young woman heard the captain yelling some commands to his crew, that she didn't understand and she would swear, she heard some noise that reminded her on breaking wood...
Her eyes were focused at the stairs that led down underneath the deck and she felt how her arms grew weak from clinging. She had to try it, she had to...

...
As Mairead released the railing and raised to make her way to the stairs it felt like everything would happen in slow motion. Her first two steps were secure but a huge wave seized the ship and the wind made Mairead stagger. She felt how she was losing her balance, but something just went wrong. Instead of hitting the wooden deck, there was only air beneath her. It probably wasn't even a few seconds, but for the young woman it was like an eternity. She knew she was screaming, though she wasn't able to hear herself and all she wished, was to feel the ground again. If she would go over board, she would be lost.
She hitted the deck and the railing on the other side of the ship and the pain of the impact with the hard wood nearly made her losing her consciousness.
The ships fore raised into the opposite direction and it was too late for her to grab for the railing and she slithered over the wet deck...
... then, everything became black ...

For nearly 7 days running, a Boy, clad in black leathers, walks around on the rooftop of a guard tower. Watching the horizon always, never does his eyes leave the horizon. His face is beyond tired. He would seem to have not slept in a week. He can also be seen training ontop of the guard tower, by himself, His movements fluid, yet wild in nature. quick and nimble, yet incredbily powerfull for his age. His eyes carry a vicious manner, Hate, malicousness, spite. These eyes carry all the feelings that are not within the boy. The boy is scared, alone, and worried about something, But he lets no one see this. Only his ice cold visage is visible.

She's alive! She's moving“...
...
Of course she is. Lucky girl only passed out.“
...

Mairead's head hurt like hell. And not only her head. Her whole body was an only source of pain. Where was she? What happened?

Nah, no moving, girl. Ya need to rest. You are lucky that we arrive the land soon.“

The girls eyes fluttered open slightly... Everything was blurred, but she could make out that she was lieing in a boat. There was a man who's red beard reminded her on one of the captains crew, and a boy in her age. The ship boy. Tiredly and pained she closed her eyes again and for two or three hours she slipped in and out of a dreamless sleep. Occasionally she heard a gull squawking.
She remembered that someone picked her up and carried her somewhere. Then there was again only darkness.

As Mairead woke up again and opened her eyes she found herself underneath a tree. A campfire crackled next to her and some fish sputtered over it. The sun has setted just beneath the horizon.
She focused her gaze on the man with the beard who watched the fish and she tried to say something, but the only thing her lips left was a painful groan.
The man with the beard looked up and smiled widely. „Ya're awake, girl. Good timing. The fish is nearly done. Here, ya need to drink. Do you think you can sit?“
The young woman nodded slightly and tried to sit up but made a painful look. „Le' me help ya.“ He kneeled over to her and helped her sitting up and leaning against the tree. „There ya go.“ He smiled through his beard. „My name's Wilbert. And you are...? “
Mairead.... “, Mairead responded quietly.
Mairead. “, Wilbert repeated and nodded. He opened the bottle with water for her and handed it over. The girl sipped carefully from the water while the sailor examined her other arm. It was covered with dark blue, nearly black, bruises. „Ouch. Oh well, you will survive it. At least it doesn't seem like you have anything broken.“ Mairead smiled slightly and handed him back the bottle.
What happened...? “, she asked finally.

A glint of sadness came across the sailors eyes. „Aye. The ship wasn't able to resist the storm. A few got on boats bu' the waves dispersed us. No clue where the others got to. Ya're lucky I picked ya up. Ya nearly went over board as ya passed out.“
The girl lowered her gaze and sighed. She mumbled a thanks and the sailor nodded.
And ... where are we now? “, was the next question that came to her mind.
Now that's a good question. The mountains over there.... “, he pointed into the direction „ ... they remind me on Albar.“
We are in Albar? “, Mairead frowned.
Aye. That's what I think. But we are close to the border to Salkamar. Behind these mountains must be Illdoran already.“

Illdoran is a fine place“, Mairead heard the shipboy saying as he came from the shadows of the forest. He carried a bunch of wood. „I've some more wood for the fire. And good to see that you are alright Mairead.“ The boy looked at the fish. „God, I'm hungry.“

The boy called Taylor, feared by some, celeberated by those who truely know him, carries on with what some would call without a purpose. It's hard to say what this boy is thinking. His eyes show hate, anger, spite, maliss. Yet in his heart are things he shows no one. Worried, sad, depressed. Yes, these things dwell in his soul. He walks into the shop, Expecting someone there who would more than likely kick him out for his blasphemy against the Governer. But instead, Eliza ushers him over near slyly. She hands him a letter, torn slightly and smudged moderatly. The boy casually opens it up, expecting it to be a court sentence. or jail term, But no. At the end of the parchemt reads the things this boy wanted most to hear:

In deepest love,
Mairead

So she was alive. The boy nearly cried with happiness. His heart grew, yet his eyes stayed as cold as ever. The thoughts of going after her diminished, and more the thoughts of what to do when she got back. But a few words troubled him

"Please tell daddy i'm alright"

Athian and Him were not on greatest terms, More than likely do to the fact that Athian would probably kill taylor on sight if it wasn't for Mai. But she asked, so taylor had to do it.

He walks outside of town. and sits down against the tree, staring to the sky. He thinks to himself that the sky could not be any more blue than it was at that moment.

She, the sole holder of his heart, was alive. And that, was enough for him.

Walking was a torture for Mairead. Her ribs, her arms, her hip were bruised. Yet still she had luck. To be alive, to still be breathing. Most of the time she thought of Taylor and how worried he might be. As soon as she would be able to write a letter, she would do it.

The three of them found a path and followed it, expecting to reach a town or a village soon.
"I've never been in Albar before", Mairead stated while she tried not to sway due to some dizzyness.
The sailor casted his eyes on her making sure, she is alright before answering. "Been many times here yet. Don' really like it." While the shipsboy only grew terrible silent all the way long.
"Anything I should be careful with?", Mairead asked.
"Hrm. Best thing you just stay quiet and let me speak. If someone asks, you are my daughter."
Mairead wrinkled her forehead slightly and nodded. "Alright..."
