Crossbow Bolt in German.

Post by Mah'dee Daye »

How does one say 'crossbow bolt' in german? I can't seem to buy it from the dealer in english. He would be more than happy to sell me another crossbow though, which makes me think he might be somewhat neurotic.

I'm not sure it works in German either...

The word "bolt" translates to the german "Bolzen".
"Crossbow" is "Armbrust", but I guess by using this word you would buy the actual weapon instead the ammo.

I haven't bought any bolts since a few weeks, thats why there is no guarantee that this is working properly.

How convenient...

I guess the crossbow I bought is pretty much useless. No wonder the sellsman had to go "rest" from working all day right after selling it to me.

Code: Select all

237 | Armbrustbolzen | crossbow bolt
But I also see the risk that you'd buy a crossbow instead of a bolt.

I'm almost sure it would buy the crossbow. I tried doing 'price of Armbrustbolzen' and it gives me a price quote for the regular crossbow.

Oh well, a regular bow would probally be more IC for me anyways. Maybe I will come across one and also where I can actually buy arrows for it.

Unfortunately that doesn't work. I am sure they will fix it sometime soon.

For me it works well in german and english.

In english you have to say:

"I want to buy a crossbow" to buy a crossbow and
"I want to buy 10 crossbowbolts" or "I want to buy 10 crossbow bolts" to buy crossbow bolts

In german:

"Ich kaufe eine Armbrust" an "Ich kaufe 10 Armbrustbolzen" to buy a crossbow or crosbow bolts.

Well, I hope you are right. I figured using the "Price of crossbowbolts" or "Price of crossbow bolts" command would show me whether or not the "I want to buy # crossbow bolts" command works. Unless a bolt costs 70 copper pieces I doubt the actual quote is for them. Perhaps the two commands differ?

*Tries it... gulp*

And so it works! I will try to be more illogical next time. Apparantly the bug just has to do with price quotes and not the buy command, either that or the shop keeper only knows what a crossbow bolt is if you actually are trying to buy one. He probally does this to hide the price! 4 copper for a little wooden stick?

*laughs*

Thanks for teaching me to take a risk.

I'm not that familiar with weapons ...

Bolzen is the correct translation for bolt
but those things you shoot with, arrows, are called Pfeil in the old tongue

try Armbrust-Pfeil,
even though its stronger than an arrow, I know
