How have the Rangers affected you?

Just wondering how well-known the Rangers are, and what we need to work on.

*looks at the post and lets forth a evil laugh*

the rangers are joke, pure and simple.

Any who wish to say otherwise come find me in trollsbane, Name a time and place.

Why isn't there option to vote: The Rangers Are Worthless

We don't need to fight you to prove otherwise Andrew, it has already been done. Also, we don't need your permission to have a useful group.

Even though if I were to see him on the street I'd put an arrow in his head, or worse. I must agree (Peter shudders) with andrew. Many atimes have I seen the town under siege by demons, monsters, crazed orcs, ect, ect, ect. And not once have I seen any group of rangers or even one ranger try to help. In fact most of the times it's been a bunch of mages who didn't know what was going and how to deal with, needless to say most of them didn't go away happy from the attacks. So as for the rangers I have heard of them, but never have they helped me or others that I have seen. Sorry Atlas or what ever your name is.

Isnt' this poll a little slanted?

They were very helpful to me.
They helped me a bit.
I haven't had any dealings with them.
Who are the Rangers?

Where's the options for:
They messed me up
They are crooks
etc...?

Not sayign they are, jsut saying the poll is slanted.

That's kinda like the question: Yes or No: Is this the first time you've been pregnant?

Well the Rangers are usually , as it seems not online when town attacks happen as we all live very busy lives. Remember, everyone is intitled to their own oppinion... and yes, the poll does seem slanted, it should have "I do not like the Rangers, although there are some pessimistic people out there. I believe if we get around 25% helpful, the top one then we are fairly sucessful.

@Sean I do not recall seeing you.

If any of the Rangers are "crooks", then I would've hoped that it be brought to our attention in some other way than making a vote. I have included another new option, but It wasn't quite the response I was looking for. If anyone feels that any of the Rangers are 'crooks', please bring it to our attention ((ie. Ranger Guild topic, Guild Board)).

@Peter:
You must understand that the Rangers have only 20 members (some of which aren't around anymore, so maybe around 15 now), most of which have limited time in which they 'patrol the town'. With only that many members, you can't expect a Ranger (or a group of) to be around at the time of an attack. Maybe it is like you thought, and the Rangers in town didn't step forward, but it is more likely that there just wasn't a Ranger in town at that time.

@Peter Lonin: Not every Ranger is necessarily a great fighter that can beat every monster or demon that appears. I don't think whether or not someone can't fight determines whether or not they are helpful.

@Peter: Like Dyluck said not every Ranger is fit to fight, take me for example but I could help get a group of people organized and come up with a strategy. If I was in town at the time that is.

It seems to me the majority of Illarionites know of the Rangers but the majority that know have had no dealings with them and /or have not been affected by them.

I never said you had to be a great fighter to help. I myself cannot stand up to a demon face to face. Mainly because I would be stairing him in the knee cap but also because these demons that attack are very powerful. But I do draw quite a bit of there blood with my bow. And how is that if there are around fifteen of you rangers and only one little hobbit that the hobbit seems to get cought in the middle of these attacks so often yet none of you rangers? Perhaps I'm just unlucky.

I don't think this is entirely accurate seeing as we don't go about screaming, "We are the Rangers! Look at help people!" Also we don't run up and say "Look at me attack this man because he is evil!" So It can't be easy to pick out things we've actually done.

Maybe that's the problem. Perhaps you should introduce yourself before you get involved. Something like " I am xyz of the Rangers, what goes on here?". I know it's open to misuse but eventually your names would be known and, if your deeds are pure, respected. Otherwise you are just seen as interference and an addition to the tenseness of the situation.

I never said you had to shout anything. I just thought since the Rangers are so helpful and so well known, they wouldn't need an introduction. After all those who might be old enough to remember me would know I didn't have to enounce I was in town before I was attacked by certain groups of people. I guess I just don't play well with other children. Well I need not waste any more time here. Until next time Rokwin
