Death/ Fear

Post by Gort Greegog »

As Arameh mentaioned. People are not scared of dieing. They are like so what, i can go to the cross and in half an hour come back with more people and try to kill you. This happens to me alot. So this takes fun out of it for the bad guys! We can complain to! Or I can.

Most people only care about dieing when they loose skill and it sickens me. I wish people would rp more fear. And Rp going to the cross. And also, I have noticed when "good guys" kill a "bad guy" the bad guy is supposed to wait at the cross to be dragged to jail. But when a "good guy" dies they just run or get more troops.

See, I care about my char dieing! I made him get caught. And then Taylor threatened to kill him. Although in the end Siltaris stopped him with 'words'. But still he stabbed Gra in the shoulder. Anyway, I care about my chars getting killed.

Is there an official RP guide for dying? E.g. is the resurrection at a cross meant to be a divine gift?

well, ive only died a few times but when i do, i say that I passed out when I return to where I died, it seems like acceptable RP for me, my characters fear death, when someone points a sword at my characters they dont try and miracurosly kill the pesron, they try to reason with him and not anger him

yeah i agree wholeheartedly. On everything there. People shoudl rp fearing death more. That's why Ules stays out of fights as mcuha s he can and my thief will never try and steal from someone 5 times his size with an axe :P

Yeah I noticed many peoples dosent care about their character getting killed/injured, unless they can lose equipment and skills. This gets really annoying. About the cross, currently what I RP when I go to cross is that my character gets killed, then resurrected at the cross, and I usually get him wounded for a while after that, I think most peoples RP it like that.

Yes, I agree! I did not know how to RP Midrusio's death because no official guideline for death.

I play it right now this way (more or less PO Stephen's way of playing death):
After I was killed, my soul left the body as a ghost (who is aware of the real world around him!?). At a cross the gods are merciful and transform the soul into a new body like the old one before it was killed. In that moment the old body turns to ash (but not removed body parts ).

Resurrections are commonplace, so why care about death?

Ressurection are as commonplace just as these post degenerate into "who is the better roleplayer" for a topic.

I still think that should loose all your supplies. I mean if your body turns into a spirt the armour can't stay with it. Can it?

I'd be cool with that if it depended on the cause of death. If I die from eating an apple acciedentally (which happened) or via NPC that would not be fun. If, however, I die via player that would be fine. I'd loss Turonga in a heart beat, but that wouldn't be a big deal, after all she is just a computer generated character, not a real person.

Hmm, well, if you made death permanant you'd have to

A) make it so monsters dont give perma death

B) Make sure something like being poisoned by a scorpion or gettign sick from food isnt permadeath

C) if someone is permakileld, and thinks the person who did so badly rp'd, their char should be kept in the database until a verdict is reached. If the person who killed rp'd badly, then they perma die, if they didnt, the person dies, if neither can be confirmed, the person's char is just revived.

I agree with Nitram, thoe no one would ever dare gain skill from fighting anything. And we'd all be weak little farmers in a month or so.

Uh, what if you were training and you lagged.

Thats the end of part of your life and soul right there.

Who was it who said, "For some people, a world breaks when their character dies"
