Hello,

this all seem to be some kind of weapons. I dont think this game will need much more of these stuff.
But what i do think, is that we need much more "normal" Stuff, like some chairs, tables and so on.

Just my opinion.

Bye bye

Furniture hmm

Post by Leinad »

Furniture just seemed a little easy thats all, and since we already have chairs and tables, i guess i can do some chairs, but tables are boring they are just squares really, unless you had any elaborate ideas? if you do please post them here, i welcome any new ideas

We can only use graphics that are MADE in the real, fitting size (shrinking them looks always bad). There are also different other things necessary if a graphic can be used... please read the graphics faq !

I've read the Faq i have shrinked versions which are ok in perspective and have been tested in screenshots, they all look fine on the floor and in the diamonds... Test them yourself if you don't belive me

The reason they are big is so people can see them like that
I have a refining program that allows direct scaling using a wire frame, then renders it after its shrunk

Okay, i said nothing :o) just remember, usable graphics must be cut-out and placed upon pink background after rendering.

btw, there is a little button, "edit", on every post you made. Press this button, and you can expand your last post WITHOUT needing to start a new post !

Nice work with that chair !

If you dont like making furnitures try making something else. I just wanted to say, that we dont need a lot of different weapons and subtypes of them. What we really need are items for everyday use.

Ahem, edit... The chair looks okay, I guess. However, the top hat looks exactly like the one in Monopoly.

To see if the items fit, make an illarion screenshot. Put it into an HTML document as background and place the item with modified, clear background over it.
We already have different types of plate legs, and tons of armor graphics - to help, and to coordinate graphic works, you should ask martin about what items we need.
Great work, this is - but watch the background closely. There are several pixels that have different color values then pink (must be exactly 255,0,255 in RGB).
Also closely watch the pixels in the object borders. They are often a mixture of pink and the item color - these parts must be changed manually. The best method would be, to render the object with antialiasing WITHOUT background (if your program allows that), or render it before a dark grey background and change the background colour manually.

A great tool might be the paint program of StarOffice - with one of its functions (pipette), you can choose one colour in the WHOLE picture, and replace it by a colour you want. So you can change i.e. the whole background colour with two mouseclicks, and look how the item would look in front of different background colours.
This method may be the best to avoid a pink or otherwise coloured frame around the object.

Very important is : coordinate your work with martin. He as graphics coordinator can tell you what items are stil needed - so you'll create items we may need, and that increases the chances of them being used. Since we have tons of armor graphics and a lot of weapon graphics too, it may not make much sense to create much more of these :o)

Ok

Post by Leinad »

Ok i'll e-mail him about it, i've teamed up with steffen also, he has some real ncie graphics too, i've posted them here Dont worry about any of the other things, like seeing if they fit or if the colours are correct, i already tested them myself and as you can see on page 2 they look fine in the screenshot. Thanks.

P.S. I jsut realised i have a professional program for that also, paint shop pro 5, its worth alot of money and does loads of stuff, like useing a pippette to alter one colour

After asking Martin and a little questioning Damien i've rolled up my sleeves and churned out a few more graphics, perhaps more detailed than the rest, please go to Page 3 on my graphics page to see the Trees and tiles i have made! I also made a ncie shortcut to my site, http://www.illarion.cjb.net , in future, when i've had time for a touch of luxury time i'll do up all my thoughts and ideas on illarion to this page, such as the long awaited rumour mill, polls, and tutorials i have wrote but never had time to upload. take a look at the graphics i've made, there will be a graphics board on there very soon so you may post your ideas and suggestions.
