What would stop you going into GreenBriar and claiming it as your own? I mean, Gishmel and Jacob did it with Silverbrand.

Yes, It has been said some weeks ago, you just need to bring some peoples with you and then will spawn halflings I think. Then you can take over the city.

You can take over anything. That is the beauty of this game. If your character can convince enough, is strong enough. He can rule the isle.

I suppose it would be possible. There are still some residents of Greenbriar, including Brendan Mason, Pronon Palmsuger and Dónal Mason, but perhaps you'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar?

Who? Theses characters are completely inactive as far as I know though.

Althought keep in mind, if you attack greenbriar you would probably have to deal with problems from Stephen.

Greenbriar is a collection of privately owned homes with little to no need for "rulers." Most people there are decidedly inactive, but until their characters up and sell their homes, or get them confiscated by the map gods, it remains stagnant.

Dusty Bottoms says,"Hey, Greenbriar is a lovely village! Why, I was talking to the boys just the other day, and this subject of 'government' came up, they told me that they didn't have any and that Trollsbane would probably take them over if they needed 'or wanted' to. Now I mustn't tell you that they seemed a little perturbed by this thought. They really dont want 'another' invasion, no matter how good the intentions. We've had several in the past, and they didn'twork out too good for the halflings.

I suggested perhaps we should elect a village 'Mayor' of Greenbriar. Not with any 'real' powers as it's only a village, but as a figurehead, a friendly point of contact for all things pertaining to Greenbriar. Elected once a year by those who consider Greenbriar home and represent it to the good folks of the rest of the world.

We have some excellent farmers, fishermen and millers in Greenbriar, and I think that we (citizen's of Greenbriar) should be represented in the most positive light possible, as a lovely little village, quaint and peaceful.
Anyway, I'd like to throw my name out there to serve as Mayor of Greenbriar for the upcoming year. All of those who consider Greenbriar as their home, halfling or not, I ask for your support. Thank you" :D

Greenbriar is the halfling village. It can be assumed that all dwellings are halfling size, except possibly the pub. Besides, Brendan is the honorary leader. Until Donal decides otherwise, of course.

Sorry guys, guess I posted Dusty's speech here improperly. How about we start a thread about it in RPG? I think there should be something of a government for Greenbriar, rather than having other's call it 'stagnant'.

I have met Brenden before, but how does that make him 'honorary' leader? Made 'Honorary' by whom? Anyway, lets discuss this in RPG, ok?

He's basically the last member of the guild that built the place. I guess that makes him the boss, eh?

Brendy became our honorary leader the same way Stephan became Trollsbanes, there was no objections. I suppose theoretically I am still a council Member (I think Brendy and I are the last remaining), although I haven't played for quite a while, making Brendy not only the last but also the honorary leader.

And it will forever be The Hobbiteers.

Ahh...so Brendy is Honorary like Stephen is? If I am reading the forums right, that isnt working out too well, and I wouldn't feel comfortable using that logic to justify your point.

Anyway, I believe that the current players should decide what kind of 'player' run government they choose. As much as I want to respect and say "Thank You" to all those who brought Illarion to what it's become now, let's not focus on who did what, or who's leftover from a by-gone era. It doesn't sound like there's enough of them to run anything anyway. Let's move on from this day forward into a future of fresh ideas, fresh blood and reinvigorate some interest among all the players. I don't really care who's 'Mayor' of Greenbriar, its NOT a 'power trip' I have to do or something, I was just suggesting an idea and hoping to spark some discussion and possibly even interest in a seemingly 'stagnant' village that people seem to have forgotten. I will work closely, with enthusiasm, with whomever the people choose, but let the people choose, SOMETHING!.

Brenden, as much as you have done, others must stand on your shoulders to reach even higher. I just want it to be said, "Thank You" for all you've done, I cannot imagine the hardships you all had to go through getting things started, and hope you continue to inspire and work for the players of Illarion.

Hey-I'm the player behind Brendan Mason. I have no objections with another character coming in and trying to establish a new government in Greenbriar. As long as it is a halfling and as long as you stop apparently posting your roleplay posts on the general board.
