This gets out of hand

Okay, because everyone is ranting about medieval jail locks, I would like to point something out here.
(And just so you all know, I have a fascination with medieval castles/architecture, and have actually done quite a bit of research on this.)
More often than not, Medieval 'jails' *DID NOT HAVE LOCKS AT ALL*. The doors were usually held shut with a simple bar-type 'lock', that either slid into a hole in the wall, or was settled down into pins set in the door and held it on either wall. It was the GUARDS that kept the prisoners from simply lifting/sliding the bars and walking free. Without the guards, a half-dead child could have freed themselves, if there was a window on the door (which often there wasn't, in which case the prisoner couldn't do *anything* about his or her situation, unless they happened to have an axe and the strength to use it, to try and cut through the door.)
Therefore... playing out a jailbreak, either IG *OR* on the board, and not giving the players of the GUARDS a chance to react, *IS* forced RP. There would be a guard there, at *least* one.

By the way im 16, and im not the one acting 10, im just giving my opinion, and I needed to tell you to look back on what I wrote so you actually explain somethingfalco1029 wrote:Wow, im starting to believe the you're a 10 year old info, as you have no clue what you're talking about. For the THIRD TIME, i didnt start roleplaying the locks being picked! Well, considering they use keys to lock the jail cells, im going to have to say there wasnt a bar lock. also, theres a window graphics on the cell, so i assume theres a window. Also, as i said, stephen or anyone can go back to that thread and rp seeing cris out of town.NirAntae wrote:Okay, because everyone is ranting about medieval jail locks, I would like to point something out here.

did you even read what i posted at least three times now? go find it, im tired of typing it out...Samantha Meryadeles wrote:You all should pay attention to those wise words, as they are very true, and calm now down about this topic.Therefore... playing out a jailbreak, either IG *OR* on the board, and not giving the players of the GUARDS a chance to react, *IS* forced RP. i dont quite understand that grammar, so il lassume you meant what did i post three times:Arameh_ wrote:How many third time is that?

Okay. I am willing to do this. I can only see this argument now as a street squabble between head butting rams. Naturally, each side is reluctant to admit defeat. First, Falco mentioned the researching of IG logs and stat matching. But to tell you the truth, I do not personally have access to such logs. The devs are the only ones who have it.Samantha Meryadeles wrote:Maybe a final word and desicion by a GM would be fine here to end this arguement,
Knowing this, I first want an unbiased account of exactly what happened. Sure, this will be difficult, but in this thread's current state, it is completely impossible to set a conclusion, based on the information here. We cannot decide who is right and deserves what things if we only hear half shielded stories from both fighting rams. Stats/skills are no problem, they can be checked if needed. But we cannot be ingame at every moment, many of us cannot access the master logs, and we cannot read every word of every post in RPG. This is when GMs need player help.

Can you tell me where Samantha (or anyone else, for that matter) said "Falco, your RP stinks, YOU should have waited?"falco1029 wrote:did you even read what i posted at least three times now? go find it, im tired of typing it out...Samantha Meryadeles wrote:You all should pay attention to those wise words, as they are very true, and calm now down about this topic.Therefore... playing out a jailbreak, either IG *OR* on the board, and not giving the players of the GUARDS a chance to react, *IS* forced RP. I read the thread. You made the first couple of posts, then Dusk/Devrah took over.
And yes, I understand there there are both windows and locks on the cells IG. I didn't say there weren't. In fact, I was drawing comparisons to that, if you noticed, I just didn't say 'unlike the ones IG'. I thought we would all be intelligent enough to understand that as being implied. But there would still be active guards on duty.
Because there are so few PC guards, the jailguards would probably be NPC's, in this case I would assume either Stephen as the town Governor or Revlen a the captain of the guard, would be responsible for playing them on the boards. After the initial 4-5 posts, it should have been *stopped* in order for one of them to respond with a post for the guard, and let them help set the scene. Otherwise, as Stephen pointed out, it would be no different then his scenario of breaking into Devrah's house (and the fact she doesn't have one just proves the point even more!)
Well i think some halfling (allen?) saw the first tiny bit of it,. and though revlen was there too, hed probably take stephen's side, so itll be pretty dang hard to get an unbiased account of the eventRinya wrote:Okay. There is something I just feel I need to point out here.
Devrah does exactly what she said she would do from the beginning - defends the town, but not under Stephen's name. She has been in town and she has stopped theives and sorted out arguments, etc. BUT she deliberately has NOT gone to get the check, because she doesn't want to take payment from him, since she stands against his government - why should she benefit from something she is protesting??
Just wanted to make that clear, because the statement that she hasn't been around is not fair.

HMm, sorry, when i get itno an annoying argument, my adrenaline goes up a bit (it sparks easily, no one i know even dares to hit me, wimpy though i seem, but tahts not important), which generally causes me to think everyone is against me. So I suppose i overreacted there a bit. That also explains my reaciton to your cell descriptionsNirAntae wrote:Can you tell me where Samantha (or anyone else, for that matter) said "Falco, your RP stinks, YOU should have waited?"falco1029 wrote:did you even read what i posted at least three times now? go find it, im tired of typing it out...Samantha Meryadeles wrote: You all should pay attention to those wise words, as they are very true, and calm now down about this topic.

As for guards, sebastian i eguss rp'd that, but yeah, theyr should have waiuted to give the guards a chance. Again though, fele free to post in the "imprisoned" thread (anyone) saying you catch cris outside of town (not catch as in you get him tot ake to jail, catch as in see him)
I have to get this out of my system, so sorry about this but:
STOP THE STUPID QUOTING!!!!!! IF YOU POST RIGHT AFTER SOMEONE WE WILL ASSUME THAT YOUR TALKING TO THEM! THERE IS NO NEED FOR MILLIONS OF QUOTES ONE INISDE OF THE OTHER
now that thats done, My char Allen was there, and though I can't remember much, heres a bit of it:
there was a big struggle inside the shop, well, the thief (dan?) hid under tables and while they were searching for him, ran out to near the leather trader dude. then there was some arm twisting, and weapon dis-arming I think the thief slashed his weapon at someone but they dodged it. during this entire time just a little fyi, sebastion watched this all, and the thief was #me'ing signals to him for help, but he never did. anyways after a while, Revlan kicked him or something and he ended up on his stomach.then Stephen twisted his arm behind him, drove his knee into his back, and then told me to get rope from eliza. so I got mixed up with rope and rp rope, (I thought maybey eliza got a new ware) so I went down to the lizard west, blah blah blah, but when I got back, someone how the thief escaped and his buddy got tackled and the thief ran off. Stephen and Revlan chased him, Revlan was a slowpoke and came back because of that. then we all had a nice little chat and tea, Stephen came back rping being hurt as if a fight happened and the thief unconcious in his arms and then put him in jail (the thief wasn't online).
thats from my memory, I'm sorry if it's not perfect.

I'll fill in what Poots missed.
Sebastian Wasn't kicked by revlen, Sebastian plays a clumsy fool, but is in fact a smooth mouthed sly devil. He acted like he slipped, and started falling towards stephen, At which time, Revlen tackled him to stop Sebastian from knocking stephen off balance. At this point, Cris(Zen) Stabbed at stephens wrist. His blow struck and he flinched, letting go of cris, And he started running. This is when Sebastian started to yell at revlen for tackling him un nesicarily, to keep him occupied and give Cris a decent chance.
Thats all you really missed. I know my vote may not count. But i can produce the logs If it is so needed. And i believe that is as close to the truth as it can get.
