Fighters and the Economy

Fighters and Economy

I was wondering. Fighters play no active part in the economy, except for consuming. The items they bring back are too low quality, and anyway; can be made from other sources.

My request is this, make some items obtainable ONLY through warfare. Before there used to be thread, and that was a nice and easy job for fighters. You could be asked by a bowyer, or a tailor to get 30 thread or so; massacre the mummies at the temple, and get 100 coins; easy and simple. Now, you can get the thread easier, cheaper and quite frankly; few people even WANT it...

Fighters used to be SEARCHED by others, they were an integral part of the economy. Moreover, they were self-sustanable, they could get food/leather from pigs, weapons from dead mummies or skeletons, and not require anythign else.

Now they have turned into just..consumers:

Food : Pigs/Fishing/BUYING from cooks
Weapons: Barely last/damage due to bad quality, need to buy from smith/carpenter
Shields: From carpenter, not as expensive
Armor: Doesn't last much either, needs to be bought from smith, HIGHLY expensive.

Do you see my point? N00b fighters without much money, can hardly afford to fight; unless of course they train unarmed, in which case they need to go in large groups because you need light armor to dodge, and you'll get overrun and beaten up. And maybe they don't WANT to be somethign else, maybe they want to conserve RP. "Hello, I'm XXXX; I'm a galliant Knight of Queen XXXXX; I also sew leather for a living".

My request is that an important part of the economy would require fighters to take part. What about not so hard dragons in caves, from which you can make REALLY strong leather armor?

Discuss.

Teeth = "Lucky"? [Increase chances]

I meant Galim.. that apart from beign to NPC sellers, they do nothing for the rest of the island. Its not like there are any massive armies attackign everyday.

You should compete with other monsters than mummies and skeletons ;-) Some monsters drop very high quality items. However, due to some "reasons", those monsters cannot be spawned without risking genocide on the whole population of the island.

Done. ALL artifact kind of items can ONLY be obtained by looting. Again, same "reasons" here, you won't find those monsters on the map too soon.

Edit: I don't know a way how to make parchment, orange potions and other stuff dropped by monsters.
Moreover, they were self-sustanable, they could get food/leather from pigs, weapons from dead mummies or skeletons, and not require anythign else.
AFAIK every single items that is not a wall or something is dropped by monsters. Like food (ever fought a human?), instruments, dishes, spoons, whatever. Fight some more monsters (trolls, ogres, humans) and report what you are missing. I am aware that some items are only dropped by monsters that are not spawned or simply useless like demons.

1) I meant: Why buy a half-destroyed leather armor from a fighter when someone can make you a new one?

2) Artifacts don't help the economy

3) I meant NEW fighters, before you could just WALK into the mummies tomb, take out half of them (helmets, swords) then to the skeleton (sheilds, leather armor)

Now some items are rarer, and they don't last long

Why concerning in becomming a leatherworker when a fighter can get the armor easilywith less efford from a monster?

And we need often warriors. when do you was the last time ingame?

Wasn't it so that fighters used to be huge in the economy because they were:

A) Easy to do. Grab a weapon and control-click

B) You could farm thread for hours, and ofcourse swords and other nifty things. You could sell ANYTHING to Eliza.

Maybe they are trying to avoid this nowadays?

As soon as you set foot on Gobaith your past is worth shit. Point. It does not care if you are Knight of whatever, your king, queen, emperor will not help you to make a living. You have to do that yourself. So work, steal, betray, scare babies or do what you wish, but you will have to earn money or die.

Actually that's a good idea, I had it a long time ago but I never found my time to implement it.

Be sure that this will come some day.
