Citizens of Trolls Bane and Peoples of the Free lands of Gob

Post by Garett Gwenour »

Written in a stylish crimson red ink with clear lettering is the following...

Citizens of Trolls Bane and the People of the Free Lands of Gobiath a new threat is on the horizon of our beloved civilization. An evil so wicked, so dangerous that even our vile Lich whom lives in the graveyard guarded by Ramon warns us of it's coming.

Earlier this day the town was underattack from a force sent by the Lich, Thark, the one we rarely see within the graveyard catacombs. He used a powerful magical portal called a "Doom portal". These portals do not vanish like others over time, they stick to where they were summoned until sand is poured onto them, drying them of their magic. With the use of these "Doom Portals" a constant stream of undead warriors came through the portals and into Trolls Bane, they would not stop until the "Doom Portals" in the catacombs were destroyed.

Balamos, Gwendolin Cad'ell and I were the ones to destroy the last "Doom Portals", after we had done so Thark himself came to us. He was with a female halfling whom I would have to call a fairy of some sort, they both congratulated us on finding out how to destroy the powerful portals and that we would need to know this technique for the coming evil. This evil was an enemy of Thark's for long, and he knows the enemy will come for Trolls Bane.

We will prepare, battle plans will be listed later. Trolls Bane will not fall to the ends of an enemy army so long as I breathe air. Trolls Bane will remain the capital of Gobiath and the jewel of the island.

For now I ask all warriors of Trolls Bane, and of Gobiath, to all train and hone their skills, they will be needed. All healers, gather up your herbs, your healing brews I fear you too will be needed. All mages, practice your magic, this will be your first test to see how much you can help keep the island safe. And lastly, craftsman and tradesman, make your trades, build your armours and weapons, we will need all of it when the day comes.

We the peoples of this island stand alone, together, against this threat..

Do you have an idea of that which will come? Or any way to stop the new threat?

You have my blade...as vowed to slay the undead.

I did not mention the men and women who fight and bled holding the west gate. I did not mention that because it was not important, you were told by a man how to disable the portals. What is important is that we know why we were attacked and now we must prepare further.

And yes, we do thank our dwarven allies and friends as they did help. But being given specific recognition and rewarded for helping the town that would help you, it is just not nessasary in times like this.

We, the dwarves, was the one who defeated the first wave of undead warriors!

An' we, the dwarves, has closed 14 Portals!!!

But why it is important who had closed the last portal an' not our work we had done before?

Fine, because it seems some people are childish and only do acts so they are recognized for them. So be it. Belgram informed me a man gave him sand and told him to pour the sand upon these powerful portals. He, Brendiil and I assume King Gemfist did this destroying many. However when they were in the crypt with Balamos and myself, they decided to turn back and leave because they thought all the portals were destroyed.
Balamos and I explored the rest of the crypt, we were ambushed by a couple dozen skeletons where I was struck down. I lost the fabled blade Kallahorn as well as a valuable drown sword that certainly I miss. When Gwendolin Cad'ell and I came back to rescue Balamos we knew a portal was still opened and so we went to the portal and yes, we only destroyed 1 portal. The dwarves did all else. I also should say that Midrusio, Siltaris, Karguk and Arameh stood and fought against countless undead at the west gate while we worked to destroy the last of the doom portals.

I hope all are appeased now and can get over themselves and onto protecting the island ?

So, you clearly say that you don't care for the people who fought and nearly lost their lives defending the west gates as the undead scratched the gates and kicked them open? I stood by the side of the Captain and many others protecting the town, and I have proven to him that I'm strong. I nearly got killed and this is the thanks, my name isn't even on the list. I though you were a bastard before, but this breaks all limits, Stephen. I hate you.

This is not a time for seeking glory nor recognition. It was not meant to be a list of those who have helped defend the town. Merely that it was defended valliantly and will need defending in future.

I refuse to give recognition to those who ask for it, but if the mention of my name above any others causes such a breach in the hearts of my fellow warriors, I would ask that it be removed.

Thats typical for ya lad, to take tha credit for ya, but forgot tha many others who did the most part, or had tha real work behind it! Without tha dwarves ya would still stand ther' an' fight undeads! Tha dwarves captured tha mage, an' discovered tha secret, an' tha way to solve tha problem! Ya just fullfilled tha last tasks.

An' it wer' tha peoples from tha grey rose, an' Revlen who wer' fightin' tha undeads. Hour for hour. But sur', that is not worth being named. but yaself, ya can name, aye.

The dwarves fought well, i admit that, but credit does not solely belong to them, nor does it to any race or single man. Many fought, i saw orcs, lizards, elfs, and dwarves all fighting to defend the town. I was one of the first to engage the undead, but without the aid of all others who helped fend them off i would have not held for long.

The writing is written in a clean hand, slanted to the left in what looks to be very rudementry Ink.

I'll fight for what i believe is right. I do not fight with you Stephen, But i am not against you. I fight for a friend that is involved in this. If it were not for that friend, and the other side paid more, i would fight for them. I could care less about you or any other in your town.

The letter is written in a sharp manner, many of the letters slightly cut off before the next one is written. There are several small tears in the paper itself and the letter appears to have been folded and creased on more than one occasion.

In regards to Rothman's last response, I simply must say that it is not a childish thing to want recognition in what a person does. If it is something they do, they deserve praises or castigations depending on the merit of what they have done. What you do, others see; what you say, they hear. Why would they not want to be accredited for being who they are? A leader should put the positive exploits of comrades before his own and in a difficult situation, one should put one's own negative exploits before that of his allies. In doing so, a balance of peacefulness at the cost of a little humility and self-sacrifice can be maintained. That is, if you actually want peace to begin with. Fortunately for me, I am in a situation that allows me to separate myself from bad seeds who fail to understand what leadership is about and can better align myself with those who would be better suited for my own allegiance.

Of every unsaid honerable deed, beleive Malachin sees it, for the warrior he shall judge you apon your death, not Stephen Rothman. As mercenaries fight for greed of money, so is as equal greed of glory. Surely, you realize such is frowned apon by the divine, and know that your mortal glory is only short lived, but the judgement of your god eternal.
