Arameh, with all due respect, though not really. You've got to be nothing but a blind, feeble, half-limbed naked mole rate buried 3 feet underground to NOT NOTICE the amount of ungrounded and OOC killing that goes on.
I really find it fathomlessly amusing how innocent and noble and mature you seem to think Illarion's community is. It's like you live in this little... bubble. It's almost cute. The bubble itself is, at least. And at any rate, you're all nice and warm and protected in this little bubble, and nothing sharp and pointy coming from the outside and realistic Illarion world (oh, t3h ironies) is going to come pop your pretty little bubble. Aww. That's so sweet. It, like, makes me giggle. Nervously. Please go dunk your head in the nearest well and realize that LIFE IS NOT THAT BEAUTIFUL, REALITY IS NOT THAT FAIR, AND ILLARION IS NOT THAT FREE OF RANDOM PK'ING AND PEOPLE THAT JUST DON'T GET IT, DESPITE WHATEVER THE HELL IT IS YOUR'RE SEEING THAT WE DON'T. ENJOY!

Hmm...what about the taking of Northerot when Arkadia held it?
If I remember right, word spread OOC that an attack was taking place and everyone jumped in just for the hell of it.
The RP reason was that Ark was evil........funny thing considering she was chilling up in the North, minding her own business, and proposing peace deals with the few groups when all of a sudden 30 people showed up.
That was fun........yeah....

Ugh...bitter about the incident and it is fine if you want to reveal your chracters to people, but some people don't like others to know who they play. It was inappropriate for you to "out" someone else's character. I honestly don't care how you feel about it, but next time you might consider just giving the story with an anonymous person.falco1029 wrote:huh?Durgin wrote:two things....Bitter?...and inappropriatefalco1029 wrote:Ive seen people OCC killing, it happened to me. Some orc i think. No adam, i dont mean you, i never gave you a reason to randomly make gorge (that it?) kill ules...
Gorge is dead, everyone knows adam played him (that was around then at least), and i was showing evidence, not being bitter. And then saying it wasnt adam in case he thought i meant him.Durgin wrote:Ugh...bitter about the incident and it is fine if you want to reveal your chracters to people, but some people don't like others to know who they play. First rule of online admins: Never trust the user!
If one player manages to kill off one char for reasons other then pure roleplay, then it's one char too many.
And heck, who cares if it's an "important" one. If I'd suddenly decide to treat my personal life problems by making a new char, powergaming him in all secrecy and then going into a killing spree I'm pretty sure I could do some damage before the GMs could step in.
Point: The risk of such a feature being horribly abused is just to high, even with Illarions selected player base.
That ig-death isn't an occurance remarkably enough has been discussed many times before. But perma-death isn't a solution.

i didn't read all. But the solution is simple.
We count the deads.
The counter decreases every 5 days the value 1
Never less then 0
Each dead increases this counter with the value 1.
If the counter is higher then 5 the system bans the char automaticly
To unban the char again, you have to speak with the nice gms. They have to decide, yes or no.
That solves the problem

Than don't come back from cross. I like the idea. 4-5 deads in 5 days and you are dead. Sounds good for me.And if it happened because someone killed you that often just to have you banned, you can speak with a gm and he will handle it.
Nice idea =).
And it will make fighters wait for a few times before they rush back into fight again.

The problem i would have with the kill count Nitram suggested, is my poor connection at this time (will get fixed soon).
Retlak has died from many players by accident, from a simple case of the connection dropping for me while i fight, not letting me step back. This would result with Retlak being banned alot and would annoy GM's greatly ^^

You've had this shoddy connetion for months. You lie!Retlak wrote:The problem i would have with the kill count Nitram suggested, is my poor connection at this time (will get fixed soon).

And the sad thing is, if people were to get perma-killed, alot of people would quit the game. It's no fun having your character die after playing him for months. Having everything you have worked for being torn apart just because you were killed a few times.
About coming back from the cross; just shouldn't be done, end of. If they come back another day, what's wrong with that? When Alkuurg was slapping the Knighthood around, it seemed they were being clouded on a regular basis. Villains can't attack dailey, but heroes can? Why not make suggestion for removing all skills and items, that way you wont moan that you cant kill someone, and many the 'evil powergaming villains who come back from the cross and kill people because they had day at work and are only playing for skills and items and to cloud people' all would leave.

Yeah, but unfortunately it is a quite common thing among Illarion chars.
Permadeath will draw many people away from the more dangerous professions, or into powergaming habits. I fear this will totally negate the fun of epic quests which are so common in fantasy games because most chars are either civilians who will die in the first monster wave, and maybe perma-die after some more and powergamers who don't care at all because they won't get hurt anyway.

I don't see why.
Epic Quest - Counter 0
It starts, some fights, and a few chars die. They got counter on 1. So back to cross and back into the battle. Maybe a little more carefull now. Fight, fight, fight, dead again. Counter 2. Nothing changed in comparing to the things currently. Just the chars get more careful. This could go on this way, until they got counter on 5. Then they will stay out and wait a few days, so the counter can decrease. This will make the players more thinking in battles.

That is perfect idea.
But what happens with the multi killing of chars? what i mean is, you die and about 3 messages appear saying go to the cross. does this make the counter go up by 3?
