A little red Book

Post by Taylor »

Taylor sits down at the grey refuge and takes the book kamik had gave him and throws it on the table in the library. He looks at it and sighs

If I put all my feelings into this one little book, But yet, I don't think it will make it feel any better.

He opens the book on the first four pages are hand written messages that look more like notes than entries. A few diagrams of sword swipes and staff swings litter the pages, along with magic symbols that look drawn with haste. He opens to the fifth page, it's blank, and takes out a quill with ink. He puts the quill to the paper and starts to write.

Well, heres my first entry into you. Master Athian has started teaching me to be a warlock, I want to be the greatest warlock there is! But he said i have to control my feelings and be tolerant to others. I can control anger, hate, spite. But the one feeling i can not control is my love for Mai. Maybe thats the true meaning of Fire athian meant, but i doubt it, since he told me i could only be friends with her. But what do i care what he says for her? She can make her own decisions. I wonder if Mai feels the same way, since she wants to marry Rhi. But Athian had said i was lucky that Mai felt so strongly for me. Does that mean that she likes me too? I wear the ring everyday, I can only hope she does. When i become a warlock, I'll become so powerfull, i'll be able to save her no matter what, and i'll be able to kill all those that harm her. I have to be stronger, i can not be a weak little kid anymore. I have to be a man, with that i have to control my anger. I vow here to control my anger, so athian will teach me how to save mairead. If I have to wait for Mairead I will. I will walk through the flames of those stupid archmages to be with her. Maybe she can show me what there is to believe about with these gods. I can only hope, I can only hope.

Taylor sits down once more and looks at the book, He hasn't written in it in quite a while. If kamik says that it will make him stronger, perhaps he should atleast try. Heaving a small sigh he grabs the quill and begins to write on the second page
My life is an interesting one for one my age. That i know for sure, yet so many riddles and questions come with my life. Athian's training is getting more difficult and my swordwork is improving. I'm fighting everyone that i can, to learn from the best, to learn what i can not from my Brother.

Mai, it's been a while since i've seen her, i can see her through the ring, yet i wish i could talk to her. There's so much to say, so much to catch up on. Will she accept my choice as becoming a mercenary? or will she be angry? Will she still like me even though i have scars now? All i know at this moment, that i must become stronger to live a peacefull life. Where no one can harm her. If it but means maiming my body in the process, and she will still love me, I will gladly jump infront of anything for her. My fears will be overcome by the need to protect her.

My fears...that is one more thing no one knows. I fear that i am losing my magic, every day more and more slips away even though i try to keep it intact. I do everything the sages taught me, yet it still leaves me. Maybe i am not worthy? This is too many questions for one day.

Taylor places the book beside his sword. As he leans back against the tree he looks at he dark sky, littered with stars, and one large cresent moon. Through his head runs one word as he falls asleep:

Mai...

Through the trees in the eastern forest, near Varshikar, One might stumble upon a Lone boy, Looking in his young teens, with light blue hair and ocean blue eyes. In a clearing in this forest, there are some swords, staves, and a few large stacks of books. Around this boy there stands alot of wooden staves, each different in length. These staves circle the boy, as he stands in the middle, wrapping his bandages back around the symbols.

Taylor stands up and closes his eyes, taking a deep breath, and then exhaling, he opens his eyes and lowers his stance. In one movement he jumps up onto a lower staff and stands there, balanced. From there he jumps to another, higher staff, throughing a kick in mid air. He jumps from staff to staff, seemingly used to the movement, and yet still, awkward. He waivers ever so slightly, Something that only a Master could tell from watching his pupil, When he lands on a staff. Taylor jumps down and spin kicks one of the staff's, breaking it over in half. He sighs and looks to his pitiful camp.

"Who knows how long i'll stay out here, But i'm staying out here untill I get it right. Athian says I need Balance. So I balance. Still, it's not helping me understand. Wind..a median to all other elements. You must balance elements to sustain life, but to also destroy it to a certain extent. While fire and water makes lightning, It also symbolizes strength and Mind. Why does it have to be so confusing. I'm not cut out for this, Sure, I act and talk like I'm smart, but this thinking throws me off. Maybe Mai is just plain smarter than me. The way of the sword has come much easier to me than the art of the books. Maybe thats the Windslasher in me. But what about the Jaebrinn side? Was she not a druid? Surely that endow's me with some magic cababilities if I was raised by sages."

The boy closes his eyes, but this time, he does not open them. He jumps up onto the staff, waivering feircly. His boots, gloves, and cape all seem weighted by metal, although he just wears his leather armor. His mercenary armor sits over by a tree where a small tent is erected. He jumps to the next staff, and the next, and the next, but his feet slip off the third staff and the wood jabs roughly into his back. A yelp of pain echoes in the woods. The boy lays on his back, in the muddy forest terrain, stareing at the clouds. Something he hasn't done in quite a while.

"I'm 13 now. Younger than any other fighter I know. Stephen got the closest to understanding why i fight, With his "You fight men twice your size and age, that is brave." But i'm not trying to be brave, I'm trying to be the kind of man that is acceptable, that is Kind, careing, and loving to that certain someone. But I lack these emotions. So I'll keep training my arm and mind. Maybe they will come back."

The boy stands up, and with a determined demeanor, he tries again, and again, and again, getting farther each time, but failing every time.
