I think that would be useful. Although it might be less messy if it was already divided into like ten threads like "Tailored Goods Trading Post" "Carpented Goods Trading Post" etc.
The only restriction I want is: No replying posts. You don't reply to a tv advertisement, you don't stick a note to a billboard, you don't leave a sticky note on a movie poster. Use the board for advertisement, use pm's to meet up ig, trade. Holding auctions on a board is silly, someone could post an outrageous amount never to be seen again or only to arrange a meeting to kill you and take the items. Thats all I have to say about that.
If we use Grob'bul's restriction on no replies, which I agree with, as people can just PM the seller/buyer and the poster can then edit the changes, can we try to bring back the Illarion Marketplace?
I dont agree, sure I think the idea is good, but it will be disastrous for the newbie.
If everyone knows that I sell cheap fishing rods, people won't buy them from anyone but me (lets ignore quality for now); so if you'r in town, and someone comes up selling a rod, you'll go "Hmm i can get it cheaper"
This would allow good crafters to sell goods faster, but new crafters would fail.
Look I know its realistic, but it wouldn't be fair would it?
Half the sales a n00b makes are because there aren't any rich people who sell at cheaper prices nearbye...
Or you know, the better crafters could be selling at higher prices because of their reputation as a good crafter...or maybe the markets between crafters will be roughly the same, so it wont matter in difference in prices too much?
you don't leave sticky notes, but you do leave a phone number to call so maybe 'doves' would be an appropriate answer.
Also, people wil still buy good from noobs. If you sell an item I want for cheaper than a noob, but I can't find you; I will buy from whomever is available. In addition, this system is already inplace. If someone were to come up to you and say I want to sell you leather for 5 coppers per sheet you wouldn't buy no matter who they are, unless you were desperate. Noobs just need to learn to pick up small jobs to make money. I would never have a new character trying to actually sell his goods before he was a respectable level of quality, again unless the buyer was desperate.
No we can't and that's the problem. There is a rule saying no buying/selling threads in RPG. That it must be done through a "trading guild".
Thats why we want a place that we can post them.
oh, maybe i should read the rules more often. That's stupid, they should allow trading on the rp board, it's kinda dumb to have OOC rules on an rp board, other than "Keep IC"
I believe part of the reason trading threads aren't allowed on the RP board is so that there aren't a vastly large amount of threads created over and over again for the purpose of just making money.

Still, that you should perhaps be an IC rule stating perhaps a limit or an official trading thread, and the IC officials would take them down, not moderators .

I knew about four to five of such "trading boards" which went down by time. First was Neons tradingboard, only used for chat. Anyone remember?
But perhaps it will work this time.
We could use a trading board, only 1 topic, but in which shoulnt reply to others, just stuff like"I sell hams for 2 coppers each and iron ore for 3 coppers each, my name is *****", or i buy or whatever, would be logic and useful for new players.
Back in the end of August I remember saying it'd be a good idea to put stalls east of Trollsbane so people could sell their stuff there at the market as you walk past! And it still should happen!!!
