Regarding the "Shrine of Sirani"

Post by Llama »

This parchement looks important, there is small print at the top

History: The "Shrine of Sirani", in the bay to the east of the swamp, was originally created and blessed by the early lizardfolk who came to Gobaith; and named it as a Shrine to the godess who you call Tanora, and we call Mother. The landlings, then stole the shrine and converted it into one of Sirani.

Now: The gods should not be worshipped in a stolen temple, and it is an insult to Mother seeing as it was hers, and you stole it from her; now it will be returned to her.

Let it be known, all peoples from all groups, that what you call the "Shrine of Sirani" will now be called the Shrine of Zelphia, or Tanora as you call her. All who wish to pray there will have to abide by the rules set by the High Templar:

-No weapons should be drawn on the holy soil unless it is truely needed. If this law is broken the law breaker shall have to pay a fine for the miss deed and ask for forgiveness from mother, as it shall be her land. The fine will be used to improve our city and economy

-No living thing shall be killed unless in posses a threat to the lives of others. If this rule is broken said person will be banned for life from the holy grounds for tainting it and shall be forcefully removed if needed.

-The holy grounds must be help with the most respect imaginable therefor no litter shall be dropped or the water tainted with waste products. If one feels the need to break this law they will clean the land. If this is broken more than 3 times said person will be banned from the lands untill the council says otherwise.

-Guests to the land must be respectful to mother and not under any circumstances insult mother. If the person feels it needed to insult mother on our holy grounds they shall be dealt with harshly and judged by the council to decide their fate

-During a ceremony guests must be sat quiet and still so the priest may speak in peace. If a person finds they must speak over or even whisper when not needed they shall be removed untill the ceremony is over. If they refuse to leave force may be used against them, if they react with hostility then they will be cut down.

-The lands are for the worship of Zelphia only and no man nor lizard should worship any other deity on the lands. Said person can be removed if they feel the need to worship another god. This of course is not to put down other gods as most hold importance to the land.

-If the holy grounds are tainted they shall be put into restriction untill made pure once more. This law's only punishment is removal although if one persists to enter force may be used or a ban put into place.

-The holy council reserves the right to change any law or put any law into place as it feels fit and shall not be argued.

--

These rules were written and accepted by the council of Zzyathis on the 17th Year of the 4th Day of Mas; and will be upheld by all under the High Guard.

My apologies to all priestesses of Sirani, but let it be known, that the gods do not smile when you pray to them from something which has been stolen. If needs be, please contact me by dove and perhaps we can sort something out.

If there are any complaints, or problems which are not simple threats or unsigned hate messages, please make them on the space below

I hate to steal your thunder while you partake on a holy quest, brother, but no one stole the shrine.

The statue was found in the far Northwest in the ruins of a temple to Zelphia and moved out into the east. Unknown to the lizards that moved it there, that place was known as the Hug of Sirani, due to it's shape.

Anything else is just confusion. In that way we must respect that while it is a shrine to the Mother, it is in a place named after the human goddess Sirani.

A name seeks only to try to understand what it is; but a name makes no difference.

You can call it what you will, and what you wish; yet by the rules above all who come to pray must follow.

Be it stolen or not, it is now Mother's once more

Dear Brother Selisidour,

I am one of the people of Gobaith, who lived here for many years, many more than most of the people who are now here.
And believe me, this place was as long as I know always a shrine for Zelphia, nothing more and nothing less.
The name "Hug of Sirani" is a very new name, mainly coming from a mistake, a map-maker made in his map, not knowing the true landscapes.
There was nether an act of stoling this place and using it as shrine for Sirani. Sorry to bother, but your history background is false.

Still no matter, it is now officially a shrine to Zelphia and it shall be used as with the laws above.

Thank you for having corrected me, a shrine in the middle of a place named after Sirani I would have beleive was one to Sirani; and since the map was from a landling's book, I assumed so.

I thank you all for your attention...

Dear Brother Selisidour,

Sorry, that I have to take again my word.
You wrote:

But I have to admit, that it was offically a shrine for Zelphia since years ago. You can't call something officially, when it was long ago officially a shrine for Zelphia.
I personally have known former temple guards of Zelphia guarding this officially shrine.
You may announce, that you and your brothers are now guarding the shrine and keeping up rules for the shrine, and I will keep my mouth. But it was and is offically a shrine for Zelphia, wether you did or did not announce something.

You seem to have a good way of discussing, Master ben Galwen.

Where I was mistaken to beleiving it was changed to one of Sirani, others would have so too. So this serves only to drive in the point that it belongs, and forever will; to Mother.

We are taking care of the shrine now, and I thank you all for your interest.

I have done some studies to find that the name "Hug of Sirani" is much more ancient than Aragon suggests, however, dating back to the first human explorers and cartographers...

However, Mother's Shrine is not on the "Hug" but in an island inside the hug.

It comforts the humans to think that their goddess' arms are around the island, just as surely as it comforts us to bathe in Mother's waters, and we should respect that.

At the same time, there is the ruins in the far Northwest ((not actually to be found on the current map, but give me some time)) that are also holy to the Mother and are the original source of the statue. Perhaps we should also attend to those.

Slaischkas, following your reasoning, maybe your lizard group can also tend to al seas, ponds, rivers and oceans, for all that is holy to the Mother too. Tend to all races, for we are all holy to Zelphia, or Tanora to those of us whom did not came from the water. I just wished to remark this.

I believe you misunderstand, Misjilah, but perhaps it is only my old age that I write such confusing words.

To the east is merely a shrine, a shrine taken from a great temple in the North. The shrine stands as it is, as all shrines do, but should we gather our brothers and sisters to pray and sing praises, and for priestesses to lay down sermons, we would want a temple.

May the Mother guide you to where the most delicious seaweeds grow,

It was more a general interpretation. But you cannot disagree with me, that Tanora has not only blessed you, but shows compassion and love for all the races? She is one of the Five elder gods you know.

Misjilah,

Though Mother has helped made all races, the lizardfolk she made by her hands; and we are thereby blessed in front of her eyes. The shrine is open to all who wish to pray in it, as long as the rules are obeyed. We are simply taking care of it, for it is Mother who drove us to the shrine, and we are grateful to her

The ruins at the northwest which you described we will tend to later, for there are many sites holy to Mother, and we cannot handle all of them at the same time.

Sorry to tease for the last time, but I do think she did it with something else than her hands.

A cloaked Elf reads the last reply and begins to laugh loudly; ceasing after a few moments and walking away.

It clearly shows, misses Mehialho; that she is cabable of telling male and female lizardfolk apart; much better than any of the 'intellegent' elves...
