To the GMS: Town for Lizards
A lizard village?
We wish to construct a village for lizards; however there are the following problems.
1) It says that you should speak to the GM in charge of that village for the building, this is not the case
2) There is no real purpose for it
Number 2 can easily be solved IF the devs arrange fishing to make it more of a skill AND make the city a place specialising in fish; it would become the fishing central of Gobaith; therebye giving it a purpose
> Till we wait for the time when there is a purpose, could a GM (to be in charge) please PM me and tell me about the costs et cetera? Perhaps we can get the items required, and then it could be made when there is a use for it.

I'd like to bring up what Aegohl said here, not long ago.
That being said, it seems like you'll have to wait a while before you'll see your town.
Or you can come up with real cunning arguments.
Aegohl wrote: Another item of import is that we want to support the current cities rather build more. That being said, if your building is outside of a city or you want to build a new city, it will likely be denied. We just don't have enough players at current to fill the cities as is.

I think there might be a reason that there is no lizard city. It does not fit the background of the race (check http://www.moonsilver.de/english/races/lizardman.htm) and underwater play is not possible.

Cunning Arguments? Here they are:
1) Food: This was the main intention of the base of the city; give us a proper fishing skill; give us Rare fish only found (as they have been bred) in the home-made lake, and the town will become important for its fish and other sea products. Moreover, the land around the home-made lake will be very fertile, which would allow farmland as well.
2) Traders: Say the city is built near threefinger bay; it would be a perfect place for sea traders coming from the west to land in. This would allow the town to sell items which wouldn't be obtainable otherwise (example: blue or purple dye; rare shields et cetera). Moreover, it is obvious that after such a long journey, they will require food and other supplies such as repairing the ship; which would create an NPC which would buy food, yet keep logic. ( It is illogical IMHO that a Farmer buys bread, as is currently). Moreover, if the Devs can create a sort of change every NPC restock, you could have days when a merchant selling foreign foods appears, while other times one selling foreign cloth et cetera. Also would give an RP reason for the old lighthouse.
3) Temple: The mainstay of the city is a huge temple dedicated to Tanora. Currently, the only places of worship present are.... few; and most are just altars with chairs in front of them. The large temple would become (RPED) important to priests, as it would be the largest in Gobaith
4) More Lizards: Currently, Lizardfolk are the least race present in Gobaith, perhaps the building of their own city would draw more Players to chose Lizard characters.
5) Coup-de-Grace: The city idea was tried many times, and it never got beyond the planning stage apparently. We'll still try again next time; so why bother the delay

Those are the most cunning arguments I can think of, and a message goes out to the players of illarion: Play lizard Characters, they're fun! [You can make lots of things up and never get caught
]
Anyone else got any better arguments?

RE: Background> Yeah, but now the lizards have decided they like the land, AND according to the idea; its going to be a FLOATING city.

but a small floating town or something might be interesting, not a city though. i doubt the lizards of Gobaith would be able to accomdate a non land structures over water. since there are no underwater graphic's it's be more like a bunch of small buildings (well decent sized anyway) connected by walkways and what not. that doesn't sound to unreasonable. you could travel my ferry to reach it.

A few things to say here.
1.I like the idea of a lizzard city because it would encourage more people to create lizzard chars. thus more people in the economy.
2.The orcs of the shadowhorde are making a larger cave and all the sudden, notice an orc boom?(by the way a gm for are city/cave thing would be nice.....)
3.One trade such as fishing hardly sounds like a reason for a town, maby a few more things you could do in the town. I know fishing is nice but lets be realistic not that many people care enough to fish so they get ham, and selling fish to people and only selling fish won't be enough for an economy for a town in illarion but maby in Real life.

Our characters can't technically sit. and? There are no underwater town/floor/building/fish graphics yet.
We don't have any other dresses than the blue one. and?
Our chars all have the same hair colour etc.
But we still have rp
I can't imagine that it would be a problem to building a cave 'underwater' and make it only passable for the lizard race?

Its not hard to come up with something that looks like a lizard town.
A cave with lots of water might do.
But the GMs and the Map Team have agreed that we currently do not create new towns or such and concentrate more on getting the current ones populated.
This decision still stands, to my knowledge.
A temple might come, maybe Aegohl even has one on a work-in-progress-map, but I belive this temple will be located inside a already existing town.

Could you please build it as part of the (future to be) town?Keikan Hiru wrote:A temple might come, maybe Aegohl even has one on a work-in-progress-map, but I belive this temple will be located inside a already existing town.
I know that there aren't enough players to go around, but if you have something like that, it'll interest and draw players to stay online.
Since you'r going to build a temple anyway, building elsewhere might make one of the MAIN themes of the lizard-city (in the future) already, therebye making the whole idea (of the city) useless to a point.
I think that if ALL the lizards in game (well 5/6ths of them, not including NPCS) agree that a temple should be built, then I don't think that we're all doing mass bad roleplay are we?Perhaps temple of Zelphia have no walls of wood or stone in their buildings, only water and nature.
Oh and temples of zelphia being (accordint to moonsilver) underwater,... they would naturally have to walls, only water. But if the lizards want to build a settlement on land, then surely they'll try using the items they find on land. (I think moonsilver says something about carved stone)
SInce you'r going to build a temple anyway, you can either help destroy the idea of the city, (because one of the 3 aspects of the city was a HUGE HUGE temple); or you can give us a starting point where to begin; we'd even collect the rescources and stuff like that.... A shrine is not a temple, a shrine is a holy place, and most people wouldn't build things around holy places, because they respect them.
I'm not locking this because it's any major breach of rules, in fact it was a fine discussion. However, the request has been answered again and again. And again. And again. And again. Illarion's playerbase can barely support the existing towns. End of discussion. There is a temple being built by Aegohl, but currently there is no way that a lizard town can be supported.
